Do want but pretty pricey STEP1(230万円) STEP2(330万円) STEP3(予価426万円) https://www.hks-power.co.jp/event/ta...gine_fa20.html https://clicccar.com/2020/01/10/945154/ |
Ummm... if I've entered the numbers correctly the stage 3 conversion reads AUD$61,000. Surely that can't be right?

I was kind of expecting a 2.5L like their TA car for that much yen. 2.3-2.4l at least.
|
That is Synergy money.
|
I better be able to get 300hp on it!

Should be good for 600hp+ |
It is high but, you can't get a stage 3 equivalent below 20 grand.
I've been talking with IAG for 2 months to do just that and my cheapest quote is 17.5k with me providing custom pistons, gaskets, the hks stroker kit and cams. That is not a complete drop in engine either but a long block assy. All in all the setup will hit around 26k assuming I don't use the hks rods. And before asked, Synergy's 2.4l quote came in at 72k and just trading up to a GT4 is too costly (month to month.) |
I have no idea how they compare in practice but I get the impression that Element Tuning know what they are talking about. Their engine "10.5:1 Turbo Engine Build with Big Valve Heads $7363", looks to me to be of similar build standard.

A lot of money for jdm mystique.
|
Well guess this is something else I can put in my fantasy build spreadsheet
|
For that much money, a turn key LSx swap would be a hell of a lot more attractive to me. Yes, it would be more money still, but not a whole lot more.
|
Lots of people out there with much more than that into their engine. Odds are good every car featured in any magazine had at least that spent on the engine alone, if not more.

never compare a complete engine price in Japan to whatever you can do with your money elsewhere in the world.
Nismo Omori Factory regularly sells rebuilt RB26 engines for anywhere from $20-65k+ USD. The engine pricing is anywhere from a basic rebuild to about 500+WHP mods, but for the money you spend you're better off getting something from somewhere else and build your own. However, what these shops do is provide a complete turnkey service for the customer in Japan. The engine may be orderable for an overseas customer, but 1) there is an engine deposit/core charge required, and 2) it's meant as a "drop off your car at the shop and pick it up weeks later" type of service. Omori Factory is one of those places where if I lived in Japan and owned a GT-R, I would love to have them work on my car. https://www.nismo.co.jp/omori_factor...ice/index.html An example are these 3 from Jan 2017: Left to right, the prices are JPY 4,800,000 // JPY 7,150,000 // JPY 4,300,000. None of them are more than 500WHP as-is. All 3 still keep the stock twin turbo config with upgraded N1 units.... which still suck. Omori Factory sells a lot of these in Japan every year. https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...bb&oe=5E98566B |

Some of the dealers out there sell the engine for cost and just charge for labor. It's not unheard of. If you're HKS Pro Dealer you also get a marketing allowance every year, so if you use it on one complete engine you basically get a $5k discount off your cost. |
