$2500 for Dealer Delivery cost???

I am being charged $2500 for Dealer Delivery costs... does this sound right to you? <STRIKE> My Dad was charged $1000 for his RAV4</STRIKE> from the SAME dealership and thats a bigger car than the GTS. :iono:

Any advice? What did everyone else get charged for dealer delivery.

EDIT: BTW i am in Western Australia.

EDIT: Argh i feel like an ass now. Sorry guys the shit my Dad told me about his RAV4 DD price WAS WRONG, he was charged the same from the dealership we are both getting our cars from. He was qouted $1600 for DD from another Dealership.

Z86 08-06-2012 06:22 AM

$1500

Dealer delivery is a crock - its basically profit.
When I bought my BMW the dealer delivery was $4000 - but then because I get a corporate discount they make it $1000.

Sutty 08-06-2012 06:25 AM

$1600 in Cairns

mroczeK 08-06-2012 06:29 AM

I don't understand how they can justify these mark-ups..

Devie 08-06-2012 06:35 AM

From my understanding they are not allowed to charge any extra from what is on the Toyota websites RRP.

DanVIIIVI 08-06-2012 06:40 AM

Dealer delivery is a grey area. With inflated dealer delivery charges the dealer must be able to substantiate that the vehicle does cost more to freight/prepare for delivery.

whyreeto 08-06-2012 08:22 AM

FCK BRO, im GLAD SOMEONE MADE THIS THREAD....

I'm furious at the dealer delivery being $2177 dollars? my mate's one was like $1800, and I called the dealer, the dealer just said they don't control dealer delivery prices and blah blah blah, I'm like wtf, you guys being at 5 dock (the dealers) are not in rural australia or something....how is $2177 justified?!?!?

BTW my 86 is only GT as well? further, I'm not prepared to argue anymore with the dealers as I'm worried that they would treat my baby inappropriately as it arrives :(

mroczeK 08-06-2012 08:36 AM

I have been quoted $2,495.01 <--- .01? IS HE FUCKING WITH ME? for both GT and GTS.

I hear people saying "as long the total price matches the online price, dont stress."

Well for the GTS Auto i an being charged $42,700 all up

and on the Toyota website it's

RRP
$37,990 [P1]
Full Driveaway
$42,630.34[P1]

for the GT Manual (which i am switching to) he is quoting me $33,990

and on the Toyota website;

RRP
$29,990[P1]
Full Driveaway
$33,877.82 [P1]

[P1] Recommended Retail Price (RRP) excludes dealer delivery, statutory charges and metallic paint

rosco186 08-06-2012 08:50 AM

shouldnt matter aslon as the drive away price is the same.
I got offered $33500 DA fot GT Man and another $6000 for the GTS.
i think it was $1875 for dealer delivery. from Grand Toyota

Its not like they need the extra cash, dealer principles take a $5,000 - $8,000 cut on each vehicle sold, depending on the value.

One HSV dealership that I do some work for said he does about $9,000 - $10,000. This is not profit obviously, just cash flow.

They also get a cut when they arrange your insurance the day you pick your car up.

KamalT 08-06-2012 11:10 AM

I just paid $2500 as well for mine.

giraffee 08-06-2012 07:43 PM

LOL. Please tell me which dealerships make $9-10k a car. I could do with a massive pay rise. Toyota dealerships average $500-800 per car. Volkswagen average $1200 per car and Mercedes $3500-4000 per car. I have never ever seen a DP skim of the top, let alone to the tune of $9-10k.

Dealer delivery isn't shipping despite the name. Its the associated costs such as freight from the manufacturer, detail, pre delivery and advertising loading. There's also some profit but contrary to what people believe we're not rolling in money when we do a deal.

Anyone willing to take a guess at the monthly expenses of a car dealership? It seems people know what we make per car, so there shouldn't be a problem guessing overheads....

mroczeK 08-06-2012 08:28 PM

I'll share my breakdown price on both quotes when i get home from work at the moment i am being told from people who use to be Toyota Dealers that $2500 for dealer delivery is a crock of shit and it's just rubbin salt in the wound. I understand they need to make money but shit... i wan't to keep money! They also mentioned $1875 is a fair price for DD @rosco186.

m0nty 08-06-2012 08:47 PM

And let me just clarify I'm not condoning higher dealer delivery charges. The market ultimately decides what dealers can charge. If you don't like their price don't buy anything from them.

Yeah i understand it, but other people within the same state aren't being charged such a high DD rate so why should i cop that xD i realize dealers need to make money but i asked for a discount because i have previously bought cars from this dealership, i don't see any discount at all -_-

As I said before, vote with your feet. Don't buy if you're not 100% happy with the dealer. Its a competitive market place and if they aren't prepared to match the TMCA pricing find someone who will. But also keep in mind other factors like timeframe and convenience.

NSW Rego for this car is $323 and black on white slimline plates is $160 - unless your getting custom plates with $99 annual fee?

My dealer tried to rip me off by charging me $461 (1505kg to 2504kg) for rego. When I noticed this he said it was a honest mistake :paddle:

That might be for reissued plates. MyPlates is an ordering service. Establishment in dealers is $99. I've double and triple checked this morning.

Thanks for that mate - always good to have an honest dealer on the forum.

Is there are reference to these prices online? Scanned through the RTA site and all it does it refer me to the myplates site.

hey buddy just checked on website, the kerb weight (KG) is 1257 and this weight falls in the $323 threshold.

However the Gross vechile weight rating (kg) is 1670, and it falls in the $461 threshold :(?

i got the feeling that the dealer is gonna go yea man 1670 falls in the $461 more expensive threshold lol....fml:sigh:

000 Racing 08-08-2012 10:03 AM

$1950 dealer delivery.. unregistered and no warranty Sydney @ Clintons of Campbelltown... It's just a take it or leave it deal... I shouldn't complain.. about the first time I have ever paid it... Advantage Toyota in this case ! Problem is people have great memories if they think they are being stiffed ...

000 Racing 08-08-2012 10:09 AM

For those interested in weight..
Department of Transport RVCS for registering the vehicle for use on Aust roads shows
ZN6-AKB8 (GT Man) Tare Mass 1179kg
ZN6-AKB7 (GTS Man) 1199kg
ZN6-AKE8 (GT Auto) 1198kg
ZN6-AKE7 (GTS Auto) 1220kg

You will see the code on the sticker inside the drivers door opening near the locking plate.

The "tare" weight of a gt manual is 1198KG. This is the weight the RTA use for any weight calculations.
