What would be the first mod you would do to your FT-86?

Wheels/Tires
Sport spings
Coil Overs
Air Intake
Cat Back

Tires

NESW20 11-30-2010 06:36 PM

depends on what i don't like about the car the most: either a short shifter if it needs it, or brake pads if i don't like how the factory ones stop. either way, it'll be something small and simple first.

chulooz 11-30-2010 06:50 PM

I agree with the idea of seeing what it might need but possibly a knob/short throw, maybe tints or anti sway bars?

RRnold 11-30-2010 07:34 PM

Since this is a new production I'm assuming aftermarket parts might take a while right?! For me, it would be suspension

70NYD 11-30-2010 07:53 PM

Tires most likely, unless the stock wheels are heavy, in which case wheels/tires..

ryude 11-30-2010 08:02 PM

Wheels/Tires definitely.

ichitaka05 11-30-2010 08:31 PM

Girl who will be sitting in passenger side will surely be changed to HOT one. LMAO!!! just trollin'

but serious side, prob nothing til see the other ppl's feed back on the after market parts.

Dragonitti 11-30-2010 08:37 PM

Suspension, although I voted other as I would like a turbo first or very close to the same time as suspension upgrade. Plan on waiting a year or more before buying the FT.

This is what I want:

RRnold 11-30-2010 09:50 PM

Wheels would probaby later on my list. From what I've seen it's usually takes several attempts before someone gets the perfect offset that not only looks good but doesn't require too much fender mods. The last thing you want to deal with is some chewed up fenders! :barf:

I totally know what you mean! I'm feeling the pain right now w my Impreza I bought bit aggressive off-set:cry:

fargasj 11-30-2010 10:21 PM

I guess that wheel fitment I want is going to be close to 19x10 5x114.3 +35mm Rear & 19x9 5x114.3 +38mm Front

That sux! The thing is the front can be fixed but the rear is going to cost some $.

fargasj 11-30-2010 10:25 PM

I like agressive fitment, here is my most aggresive setup on a previous car of mine:

Wheels/Tires sure!

Yeah, idk why but front fender isn't too bad. It rarely rubs... but Rear, every time I go through dumps & dips I wanna cry. It looks nice, but looking nice come w a price.

Kids Heart 11-30-2010 10:49 PM

My goal is to have it look as close to the concept as possible. I doubt it will come with those wheels so that will be first. After that Coil Overs then power.

iff2mastamatt 12-01-2010 12:52 AM

Other: I'm de-tagging whatever logo is on the car, it looks stellar with no branding.

DanZilla 12-01-2010 01:58 AM

I'm a tire whore, I just love super fresh tires for some reason. Wheels while at it.

Then maybe an exhaust.

Midship Runabout 12-01-2010 02:38 AM

2JZ swap.

That would make it go faster in a straight line and ruin everything else IMHO.

Matador 12-01-2010 09:40 AM

The "Take it through some winding roads and out to the country" mod, so that everything gets broken in nicely.

After that probably wheels and tyres.

+1, 100% agreed.

DantKR 12-01-2010 11:10 AM

Depends on what it comes with stock. I'd have to drive the car and see what kind of responses it gives before I changed out a single thing.

I'm surprised and impressed with the number of people that said tires.

RE-11s or RS-3s for me.

I've done it on every bike I've owned since I first discovered it on the motorcycle forums.

I was really curious to really try it on my '06 R6. This was the year Yamaha got busted for claiming it redlined to 17.5K when it didn't. All the power is made from 8K to around 16.2K rpm.

I took all the bodywork off and with 0 miles on the odometer then went out on the freeway around 6am morning since there was hardly any traffic. I pinned 1st, 2nd and 3rd making sure to load the engine and keep the revs about 8K. 1st gear takes you to about 60mph, 2nd to like 110, 3rd to like 130mph IIRC.

I put on about 24 miles, went back into the garage and drained the oil. I was surprised to see how dark it was and the fine metal shavings. Thats when I started using the Shell Rotella and changed it at 150 miles and then 300 miles.

The manufacture runs them prior to leaving the factory so you're not really doing yourself any good by keeping it under 6K for 600 miles.

lol

ALL HAIL THE 2JZ-GTEl :bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

but it would defeat the purpose of this car, but i like your style

Besides taking out a 2jz is just dumb unless it's for rebuilding

I was joking

But first mods would be wheels and tires accordingly. And an exhaust to hear that boxer rumble.

Ryuu0u 12-02-2010 12:06 AM

First thing ima do is throw some 22inch blades on ma whip. . . . .
I should probably slap my self for saying that lmao but in all seriousness most likely basic wheel/suspension mods, maybe from trd or any reputable tuner, and maybe some basic power upgrades if my gf lets me.

no, no, I installed driver mod about 7 years ago, and have been updating it ever since. Just swap it form car to car as I go along.

I'm thinking about doing a major upgrade sometime in the future.

KTB 01-05-2011 10:59 PM

I'd say tires. They will make more diff in driving.

First mod is...

http://www.bbs.com/_images/company/fi_sport_silver.jpg
This
18" or 19" BBS FI CNC in gunmetal.

Unfortunately, it's available in 19"-20" only.

Neutral_Eyes 01-06-2011 05:39 PM

Definitely tires.
