For those of you with grimmspeed or perrin license plate relocator

Just got mine on my car, however i didn't drill into the bumper plug. Now theres the big hole there and you can see the white bumper foam. Do you think this would be an issue with rain?

one more on this. the Dealer installed that crap front plate holder. so now i have holes in my bumper.... is there a color matched "cover" i can get some where? or am i going to have to fart out some cover for it. (it looks like shit)

Brimford 08-05-2012 09:37 PM

Well i actually ended up just drilling the hole! I wish that one of the companies that manufactured these front license plate holders would produce a new cover. I would buy one to avoid drilling anything myself! :)

It is possible to put the tow hook cover back on the car easily once it's taken off?
Does it have some sort of plastic clips?

Yep. Comes off and goes back on with no issues.

Do we have a part number for the plug/cap?

if someone has a solution for this i would appreciate it too - i unfortunately purchased my fr-s that was already at the dealership (6-9-12) and they drilled the license plate holder in but it looks like the actual 2 screws at the top of the license plate are actually in the bumper about 1/3 of the screw in.

i have heard of bumper plugs for porsche;s but i dont know how good of a match their paint is to ours?

If this is the "cap" you're referring to then it's: 57731CA210

Before being drilled:

That's it indeed. Part number brings up a valid part with purchase price as well, excellent. Good work Manny!

empower-auto 08-13-2012 12:54 PM

Looks like this is way better to install on the FR-S. No drilling actually needed

Neziah 08-13-2012 01:21 PM

The hole is quite a bit larger than the plug on the FRS. You could get by without it, but looks a lot better if you do drill it. I almost left mine off and painted the insides of the bumper showing through the hole black, but ended up drilling it instead.

Brimford 08-13-2012 09:11 PM

Actually it looks like it could be an issue, if you get water in there it could mildew and mold overtime with the foam behind the bumper that is exposed!

The car is constantly exposed to humidity/water/rain. Dont worry about it.

Hanakuso 08-14-2012 12:09 AM

DOH! I was trying so hard to find the part number when I had it laying on my desk. lol. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I'm not really worried about it. It's a FR-S not a 458.

if it was a 458 i would be worried about it catching on fire...

driftartist 08-28-2012 08:09 PM

i drilled my cover, didnt take too long and with a little filing, it looks pretty good

ggpaul 10-16-2012 06:48 PM

My cap is drilled as well and now I want a new cap. Can I get it easily? Or is there anything else I can get to cover it up? I need to do it before Fri

I ordered mine through the local dealer. Took 1 day to receive it, but then again Toyota's HQ is only 5 minutes away. Each color has a different part number since they come prepainted.

Btw, I made a DIY for this. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15922

How much was it?
