Good turbo tuner SD?
 

I need to find a tuner for my car that will be turbo'd this upcoming weekend
I live in San Diego and dont really trust driving a turbo car up to LA non-tuned.



Is there a shop in san diego that you guys like?
Ik my chanses are low but is there a shop that can tune it for Open Flash so I can swap between E85 turbo tune and 91 Oct turbo tune when I please. Open flash is also important to me because of smog. Im going to have to remove the turbo once a year.

You could use Delicious Tuning in SD for tuning but highly suggest you considering ECUTEK. You can still switch between 4 maps in ECUTEK with a flick of the cruise control stalk. You can always still go back to stock tune/map with ECUTEK too for smog.

I personally recommend going to CSG for tuning. PM if you need more info.

Not a shop but still a highly reputable tuner for these cars as well. Check out db_tuned on facebook or instagram. He'll fly out to you for a small fee and gets your car tuned. He does both ECUTEK and OFT for NA and Turbo.

dude, delicious tuning is literally 40 minutes away from you. theyre pretty much the name of the game when it comes to engine/power tuning the brz. im on ecutek, but if i was 40 minutes away from delicious, theyd have ALOT of my money

I would love to do delicious tuning but my problem is that i want an unlocked tune so i can swap between e85 and 91 on the fly. Im open to doing eTuning if anyone has a reputable eTuner.

Flex Fuel is the answer my dude. You'd never even have to worry about changing back and forth. Most if not all licensed Ecutek tuners will tune for Flex.

but if i want to travel i need the option for 91. I DD my car.

Then get a flexfuel kit and you’ll be good no matter the octane... you shouldnt stick with oft simply because you want to switch between tunes....

So I think after a little research ive come to a conclusion. Tell me if im wrong but I want to.

I think im going to put the stock rom back on the car to unmarry the oft, get an ecutek license and goto a tuner to get both a proper e85 and 91 tune at the same time. Just switch between using the cruise control map selector.

What we are trying to tell you is a Flex Fuel tune makes it so you don't have to map switch at all. It's dynamic in the sense that when the sensor sees different fuel quality it makes adjustments accordingly. Say you have a half tank of 91 in the car. You go fill up on e85. The sensor will see the ethanol content rise, and according to the tuner's programming the car will adapt to it. When the car sees the fuel quality lower back down it will pull those adjustments back out automatically.

I understand that flex fuel might be better but why pay for something that already works?
How hard is it to flash a tune at a pump as you fill up anyway?

dude, heres what you do. go to Delicious. the next step is very important. pay close attention now. tell them "i want the sauce." i dont even have delicious, im even not a fan boy. but you not going to them is like being in italy and refusing to eat any italian food.

Hit up CSG. Zach does a great job on this platform. Or if you want some nostalgia I know a guy. Stick to shops that have a reputation and are a legit business these cars are also easy to e tune also someone like HRI can take care of you. *thumbs up*

The main difference is on a turbo car especially you want the car to be the most dialed in it can be. Pump ethanol varies day to day or even pump to pump. In the U.S. some ethanol pumps can be as low as 51% and not true 85%. So if you get tuned on e85, then you go fill up at a pump that has 51% ethanol there's going to be a difference. You can't flash back to the 91 tune, but the content in your car won't match what the car was tuned to. The flex sensor would ensure that no matter what the percentage of ethanol is the car would still be in tip top shape.

It's money well spent in my opinion. The feature is safety, the side effect is not having to switch maps around all the time.

From what I am taking away from these, the tuning is done dynamically with the flex fuel kit - allowing a dynamic adjustment while driving, thus removing the worry of filling up with E85 one tank and filling up with 91 octane 2/3's a tank later, which seems to be part of the concern. Perhaps call delicious and they can shine some light on the subject? They use Ecutek as well, allowing the nifty cruise control to act as the selector (I think that feature is the bees-knees TBH).

I guess the real question for engine safety and reliability is:

"if you have different maps and the flex fuel setup, will the flex fuel work with the mappings or not?"

Listen to everyone. Ditch OFT and get ecutek and flex fuel. There is a reason everyone is telling you to do so... You spent money on the car and want to boost it, don't cheap out on the most important part when boosted and that's a solid tune
