Sticker Removal on TRD

I'm thinking about removing the stripes on my TRD. Would doing this hurt resale? If so i'll just not mess with it.

Grady 10-22-2019 11:47 AM

Most likely yes. Unless the person wanting you car does not like the stickers.

I think The car will be worth the same, with or without.

Same. If the dealer or new buyer wants them, they can purchase them.

Yeap, it can't hurt resale any more than the cost to purchase and reapply the stickers. Even then, if someone doesn't like them (myself included) then it might actually help resale.

if you're worried about resale, you bought the wrong car.

LOL depending on how much you paid new lol. As long as I get in the low $20's grand after a year of use I'd be satisfied. That's if I don't like.

soundman98 10-23-2019 12:41 AM

i don't remember what i paid. i expect to get nothing more than scrap value for the car whenever i decide to part with it, either out of boredom or force.

VittorioS 10-23-2019 12:50 AM

I took mine off, no regrets.

It'll probably raise the value.

Ya. Won’t look like a Hotwheels car.

StraightOuttaCanadaEh 10-23-2019 11:24 AM

I think the stripes look amazing. When the Evo 6 Tommi Makinen edition came out, a lot of owners removed the stripes. Nowadays the cars with the stripes intact are more desirable. So it may raise value in the short term, but I think in the long term, genuine OEM stripes will be looked at as a desirable, collectible option.

I always wanted to drive or own the evo 6.5 TME. One of my hero cars I've never meet.

Being in the states I had owned evo 8, 8.5, 9 and evo x. The only car comparable would be the Civic Type R. The evo 8 was better than the E36M3 I traded for it. Amazing for it's time and today in terms of feel.

Ditch the stripes. The only cars I like stripes on are 40-60 year-old rally cars and race cars. Pretty sure the vast majority of our cars won't be around by then, and they're not exclusive enough anyway. Keep 'em if you want but I think they look awful.

Sapphireho 10-23-2019 08:13 PM

..ly ugley, and cheesy.

I love my 86 as much as the next guy, but they are about as collectible as cans of tuna. OP should just do whatever he wants, drive the snot out of it, and not care about anything else. This is the gift that is the brz/86...

Yea I agree with this.. it's a lot less stressful driving around an 86. I'd cry if I crashed a GT4 or even put a ding on it. The 86 is replaceable.

Actually, if you're worried about resale buy a house not a car.

but unless you're flipping it within the first year, there is no way to make money on that prospect either.

I tend to agree with this. If a special edition of a car has specific stickers/decals I think they should stay on the car. The most confusing decal situation is with Porsche though. I never know which ones are supposed to have decals or not. [emoji1]

meh I actually like the stripes..less obnoxious than the typical racing stripes on many muscle cars..but cannot deny looks really clean without them too ^^

JesseG 10-28-2019 12:48 PM

Yeah it looks good either way. Is the TRD Edition only available in black?

Manual and Black only.

A white option would have been legit.

with vinyl being everywhere today chucking the stripes for a cleaner look isn't really a big deal. could just print new ones. and we can't really predict the classic-ability of our 86s and BRZs today but when the manufacturer makes something special and years later everything about it is still there, all subjective, but I think there's definitely more of an appreciation for it. I know I would! little things like still having the original window sticker, owners manual, magazines, brochures, if you're into the that stuff etc. although thede cars are a dime a dozen lol.

don't know how that translates monetarily but it's also cool to see sometimes the styling of these stickers and how they can provide a reflection of their times.

but not my car, just 2 cents. if it makes the car unique and isn't gaudy then im all for it

^ That looks a lot better. The TRD version looks like it was sponsored by Nike.
