Front Axle Oil ?

Hi,

Just want to confirm.

Beside the Engine/Transmission/Diff Oil,
is there any other oil that need to replace ... eg. Front Axle ?

Thanks

Tcoat 09-24-2019 12:51 PM

Do you have the AWD BRZ?

extrashaky 09-24-2019 12:58 PM

You don't really need to worry about the oil in the front differential unless you have driven through high water with the breather tube disconnected.

redwine 09-24-2019 01:20 PM

Haven't peek underneath. :D

You mean only the "driving or powered" axle need oil replacement ?

CoolHandMoss 09-24-2019 01:38 PM

If you care about your car you should go ahead and do the front axle fluid and the blinker fluid at the same time. Don't forget the muffler bearings too.

Only the powered wheels have axles...

KR-S 09-24-2019 03:55 PM

To be fair, OP may have just said "front axles" as an example... or he may be referring to a different car entirely. :iono:

To add to this, check to see if your brake calipers allow you to see your pads, and make sure your powered mirror does something. If not, your BRZ is literally the worst piece of shit car ever made, and you should burn it and buy something else.

Don’t forget to keep your blinker fluid full! It goes in the end of the turn signal stalk.

BMW’s run around with theirs empty all the time, never see the turn signals work.

Would also help to check the rear view mirror to see if it does anything fancy. If not, then it’s truly the WORST car EVER.

In all seriousness, just follow the required services by mileage OP. Other than the ones you listed, I think the only other fluid or oil service would be the brake fluid

KR-S 09-24-2019 04:27 PM

Can't quote you, but I already got that rear view mirror covered. Still good to see if maybe the side mirrors shoot double rainbows or something.

In case it's not obvious:
No.

Tcoat 09-24-2019 06:18 PM

With the owners manual there should be a maintenance schedule of what should be checked or changed when.
If anybody does not have this document they can simply Google FRS/86/BRZ Maintenance schedule and PRESTO you will have all the info that you ever needed to know about what needs to be done and when to do it.
Just think of how having such information at hand would save on sarcastic responses from the internet!

But sarcastic responses are the best part of the internet.

Oh man I really wish I was on this first.

Any way,
Why worry about the silly front axle, in our cars it's dog shit. (Lol)
What you need good sir is a brand new 2019 Honda Civic SI.
Our front axles have 100k mile before needing any service. So you'll never have to worry about that. If you get our extra lifetime service package, you'll never have to open the hood or look under the car. We'll do that for you.

Not feeling it. Try harder next time.

Seriously. The muffler bearings. People neglect the important maintenance and poof. No more car.

I've had mixed results from greasing the brakes

Don't forget to get the Sky Hook to pull the bearing. Prior to greasing I use flight line to hold it while I wash it with Prop Wash.
