Awaiting a PPI on it but given it's already got an exhaust and coils just hoping to find out whether it was completely hooned or not. Thanks in advance.

soundman98 08-26-2019 09:17 PM

of course it was hooned. the question is weather it was properly maintained.

ThatYeti 08-26-2019 10:55 PM

Fair point, anything special I should be checking for given the mileage?

Ultramaroon 08-26-2019 11:33 PM

Listen carefully for even a hint of whine from the transmission. Should run dead silent.

.... Corsa exhaust makes that a little hard

Shouldn't be loud at Cruise or on light throttle.

You asked. I would steer clear of anything modded. Period.

Appreciate that and I understand the risks with that, mainly looking to see if anyone knew/knows the prior owner as I'm just curious what else may have been installed and removed.

Something strikes me as I saw this on the New England 86 FB group and the warning was to stay away.

Appreciate that, any details on why? Link maybe?

Apparently there was some questionable repair work done. That dealer also has a terrible reputation and is a good one to stay away from. Keep searching ;)

Thanks I guess, will keep looking

Never ever buy a modded car.
100% are owned by fools.

fixed.

but seriously, if the previous owner returned everything to stock after they beat the everloving crap out of it, does it still count as modded, or does it count as stock?

Personally, I would never buy from that kind of seller. Even if the car was returned to stock. Modders are typically fools who don't know anything about proper maintenance. And hoonings.

Is this made by a fool?

but if you're buying used from a dealership/lot, does it count as modded if it's been returned to stock?

A VIN check could solidify this claim, although I'll guarantee most people don't post their vehicle identification "number number" on the forums.

The dealer can't really undo global damage caused by modding. All they have to do is "bring it back to stock" so they can legally sell the car. It's up to the buyer to feel comfortable enough that latent failures won't result from whatever the previous mods were.
