Gravel in my rear
After some spirited driving on gravel roads, my rear bumper/panels appear to have retained some gravel. I can hear it when I gently bump the bumper.
Anyone come across this? Do I have to remove panels to remove the gravel? |
yes,
id look into what dirt fish and other rally guys do to prevent them from picking up weight |
God I hope you mean your car.

I have the same problem. Just drive really aggressively and they'll fall out over time lol

Which reminds me of back in the day, my old Chevrolet had "gravel pans" on the front and rear (see in the picture - the pan between the bumper and body). So, you would just brush the gravel that snuck through, off of the pan. In your case, I would try to suck out the gravel with a shop vac. humfrz |

Ok, on the real, there are a couple boxes behind the rear wheel wells. I think they're referred to as the rear bumper side seals. I've cleaned gravel and shit out of that area after it dried up. If you back up onto a couple ramps or use jack stands, you can reach up between all the nooks and crannies and find the junk. There are plenty of places for it to collect. No, you can't get at it with a shop vac. |

This 1960 Willy CJ5 was properly built to go just about anywhere so that's exactly what I did. I saw some cool places and did a lap of the country in 1993/94. https://imgur.com/a/1BPsB5B |
Rwd+dirt roads is just a blast. I just wish this car was a 20 year old beater I could rally the shit out of lol. Our cars are well balanced, have an lsd, and suspension based off of an impreza. Seems like a recipe for gravel/dirt glory if you ask me.
Quick question about dirt/gravel hooning; are you more likely to pop a summer tire than a comparable all season or even winter/all terrain? |

I can answer this one and all tires that arent gravel specific have near the same ability to pop now you can sort of delay it if you run a taller sidewall and deflate a bit. but at the end of the day gravel specific tires are reinforced on the inside and weight alot for that webbing |

When I removed some panels to install the rear NUR spec rear spats, a bunch of gravel came out. I used to park in a gravel lot in my previous job, and my FR-S is at least 2 inches lower than stock. I've actually gotten stuck 3 times in that lot and had to be pulled out.
