Should everyone have one?
Hey guys and gals,
I've been lurking on this forum for the past month and I've been hooked on the 86 legacy like a mouse to cheese. I'm located in the inland empire. I had a chance to test drive a sunburst AT FRS and it was lovely. I rarely get excited over a car, but it is the car that I definitely want. However, one gripe that I have is when a great product comes out, a whole slew of people who may not appreciate it get their hands on it. It's used as a status symbol instead of an appreciation for it's rich heritage and nuisances. Maybe it's the green jelly monster rearing it's ugly head because it's not sitting on my driveway yet. But to each their own. End rant -VD |
hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

It's inevitable that that will happen. I'm sure it already has. In a perfect world, maybe it would be the way want it lol. I do agree it would be cool if people who appreciated the car for what it is could get their hands on it first, but I guess that was the First 86 program.

lmao....a Scion as a status symbol?

Im buying one and prolly not going to drive it. i do a lot of driving into plants and shipyards. Thats why i will be driving mustang and letting my brand new 13 fr-s sitting and adding as many aftermarket parts as i possibly get my hands on, you know what i mean
|
dat shit cray. Compared to other car forums the people on here actually know what this car is about. Every car has people who drive it that are asshats, but this doesn't seem to be near as bad.

I've had people say they thought it was an Alfa Romeo or some other Italian brand until they saw the scion badge.

My two biggest issues are the lack of power (understandable) and the extremely poor performance of the FR-S a/c.
role the freaking window down dumbass wwwooowww |

i came from a 95 civic sedan and a 90 toyota 4runner. My FR-S is a major improvement. Maybe some people have been spoiled with the luxurious features of modern cars.

A/C works just fine out here in the middle of the Texas desert!
Unfortunately every car, no matter the cost will have "those" people. I own a 2007 Mustang, so believe me when I say I understand. 9+ million units allows for every walk of life to be behind the wheel. |
I came from an m3. Very different cars, but no regrets.

Regarding the FR-S a/c-
We have had a heat wave for weeks in Toronto. There have been several days where my outdoor temp gauge reads 36'C and yesterday it said 37, highest ever. So, there probably isnt much temp difference between here and TX these days. MY a/c works great. On the other hand I drove my '12 xB this morning to work (winter car) and as it is a larger vehicle with larger interior volume to cool, the a/c is calibrated differently. The #1 fan speed blows harder than the FR-S. I am sure this is to get the larger volume cooled at an acceptable rate. Since the interior volume of the FR-S is so small, perhaps you are just not accustomed to the fan/ac calibration for that vehicle. Or, maybe it needs a warranty service. :bonk: |
It's been regularly over 100 degrees where I live in the Sacramento area and the A/C has been fine.

I do believe there may be an issue with the car as I have a squeak noise everytime the ac compressor kicks in. |
All I can say is TOP DOWN TOP DOWN!

So far, judging by the forum members here, and the few I have seen out in the wild, the Twins have a way better userbase than most cars I see, ESPECIALLY the BRZ since most Subaru owners imo are shitheads.
On the GC forums, the big thing over there is that stupid ass hellaflush shit, or putting big dildo shift knobs on their cars because it is "jdm". Even though a lot of forum members here think they are driving God's Chariot, I'd rather have that, then people putting pink rims, and "Hi Hater" stickers all over their car. |

Where I live it's just the WRX guys. STI guys are about 4% more mature. I love the other Subaru owners (impreza/legacy). I had an older lady in a legacy yell "i love your car!" at me in traffic and caught a cutie in an impreza taking pictures of my car. Ended up pulling over so she could check it out. Another older lady...about 70..with an Impreza helped me find the dealership when I was lost one day :D |

Let's wait a few years, when there will be an abundance of used (i.e., cheaper) BRZ's & FR-S's out there, and see what kind of a crowd scoops them up then. I suspect (but certainly don't hope it) that more and more un-informed, immature "racer-boy" types will be in possession of these cars when that happens. For me, I'm just enjoying being part of the current "userbase" of these cars while I can :) |

Like with everything new the people who really want it and can enjoy it will pick it up as soon as it comes to market and while the supply is still low. You'll see more people pick it up in the future who may not appreciate it as much as we do.

But there are only 2 "God's Chariot" in this world and I drive one them. The 2nd Gen CRX si and the E30 M3. http://ipravda.sk/res/2012/04/25/thu...988-clanok.jpg http://images.paultan.org/images/History_M3_E30_1.jpg I suspect the 86 may reach such a status level of undeniable awesomeness that it will have to be added to the very exclusive list of "God's Chariot". But first, like the other two it has to prove it can dominate in the racing world. |

thats what the 2yrs free service, warranty and scion dealer is for.... take it in already and if they dont fix it in the coming months - maybe go ahead and gripe... to scion |

The great thing about this car is that the people who use cars as status symbols aren't interested in it! "Bah, only 200hp?!" "No turbo?!" "So disappointed with the power output, what were they thinking?!" "lol Scion" "Dude, you should just buy a Genesis" "I could have got a Civic Si and paid 3-4k less if I wanted 200hp!" :bonk: |
