jpit 08-02-2012 05:24 PM

Both the Greddy and Takeda are made by aFe power and are similar. They list for about $350 msrp.

Correct $350 is MSRP. Greddy is guessing on a late August / Mid September release for this.

RRnold 08-02-2012 07:15 PM

Nice!

FRES86 08-02-2012 07:51 PM

@ GREDDY.Awesome! Any specs on HP/torque gains yet?

D1cker 08-02-2012 07:55 PM

Ordered mine already, pretty excited because it looks clean and gets rid of that stupid sound tube.

C.A.R.B legal? Still getting it even if not

Superhatch 08-02-2012 08:43 PM

I wish products which are added to gain hp, had hp gains as part of the rollout PR package. I find it odd when it's not.

Looks nice. :)

feldy 08-02-2012 08:44 PM

Why do people want a cai and want the sound tube taken out? I don't get it. I want the cai to help hear the motor more when in autocross. Cai increases sound in the cabin so does the sound tube. I want a cai with a sound tube hook up.

lucchesi423 08-02-2012 09:04 PM

thats super clean! looks like a hybrid between the Air-raid and the Injen intake, which was exactly what im looking for, hopefully theyll throw some specs/dyno sheets soon.

japino123 08-02-2012 09:23 PM

looks very clean. can't wait to see the numbers.

whataboutbob 08-02-2012 11:24 PM

Nice. Want. Any vendors selling this please PM me.

Visconti 08-02-2012 11:34 PM

Yeah, I don't get it either. Having a sound tube on these intakes would make them even louder, which is what I want. That's why I pre-ordered the AIRAID intake, it's the only one that has the sound tube connection.

Cheddar 08-03-2012 09:31 AM

Does Greddy have a sponsor account on here already?

jpit 08-03-2012 09:39 AM

The photos of the Takeda show the sound tube has not been eliminated on their intake. As of yesterday Greddy hasn't decided whether to keep it or not. They are still testing.

bakerr6 08-03-2012 10:33 AM

If you are worried about the sound being in the cabin, why not just get a louder exhaust? You would be getting additional performance, plus it would clean up the engine bay.

The revised Takeda will not have the sound tube connected. However, if you wish to keep it, you will be able to drill out the hole and install the sound tube.

Its been said a million times. The sound tube is ugly. Removing it cleans up the engine bay. And any aftermarket intake is going to have superior sound than what the sound tube is able to produce. You are going to hear the intake more under the hood with an aftermarket intake than what that little sound tube is going to give you.

xcelir8brz 08-03-2012 04:51 PM

EXACTLY! SOUND TUBE DELETE. Oh did you guys see that I have a solution for that? Actually three.

Sorry but that's a bit ghetto for a $350 intake. :bellyroll:

driftartist 08-03-2012 06:47 PM

As for appearance, I drive with my hood closed, so I don't care what it looks like under the hood. Our cars don't have too much eye candy anyway, so my hood stays closed at car shows.

As for the sound, you're missing my point. The aftermarket intake produces lots of sound PLUS the additional sound the sound tube pipes in. It's not like having the sound tube hooked up deletes all other engine noise. You'll still have your regular aftermarket intake sound, it will only be amplified by the additional sound coming through the sound tube. Is that illogical?

That's very logical, and in most cases probably correct. Whatever sounds the aftermarket intake is making, it will be translated into the cabin by the sound tube. And by all means, if that is what your after, then keep it in. I agree about "popping" the hood at an event when the car is brand new and stock (besides the curious folks) but I am anal about some things like extra crap roaming about. Less is more in my eyes when it comes to under hood appearance.

NuckinFutsFR-S 10-19-2012 06:03 AM

Any other brands have the sound tube option other than AIRAID?

SpeedmasterBRZ 10-19-2012 06:10 AM

Greddy has a the sound tube option. The pictures at the first of the thread are old and do not reflect the production model.

2forme 10-19-2012 07:36 AM

Just wanted to let everyone know. I talked to Takeda and they have no intention of offering any "sound-tube-less" pipes. I even offered to pay a few bucks for one just to clean up the engine bay. :(

NuckinFutsFR-S 10-20-2012 05:08 AM

Thanks. What do you all think of TRD parts? I was thinking of installing nothing but TRD so I wouldn't void my warranty but looking at other brands I'm like "screw the warranty, I want Greddy and injen!" yet still can't make the move to buy cuz I would like my car to be covered in the event of some mechanical failure. Have any of you with obvious mods taken the car to the dealer? If so,did they tell you that "all that mess just voided your warranty"?

even TRD voids warranty if it is proven to be the caused of the issue

Eightysexy 10-20-2012 05:21 AM

TRD voids warranty even if dealer installs it?

Froylavin 05-28-2013 11:04 AM

So does this have a sound-tube delete or not?

I actually want to keep it...
