Toyota Canada - Mosport

anyone get an invite to a track day at ctmp ddt in july? or have gotten one in the past?

just curious how the day will unfold....

RayRay88 06-26-2019 01:03 PM

I got the invite, very curious about this event. I wonder if it's DDT or the GP track.

jordan7831 06-26-2019 01:41 PM

I got an invite and RSVP'd. Good to know others on here may be in attendance.
The invite said it would be on the DDT track.
Anyone hoping we get to play around with the supra?

Tokay444 06-26-2019 01:54 PM

It's DDT.
Got the invite. RSVP'd.
Spoke about test driving other exciting models. That can only mean Supra. They don't currently manufacture anything else that could be mistaken for exciting.

TRD Camry maybe, TRD 86 more than likely.. Supra? A low chance I'd say.

Yeah, no.

Got it.

Pretty sure they will be marketing the Supra, with some collateral promoting of the current model 86.

After all, who are the best ambassadors for a Toyota branded sports car? As well, some of us might actually upgrade to a Supra at some point.

The idea is expose the model to those interested in purchasing as well as those just interested, who help sell the product to their peers.

I am not in a position to do itnow, but I can definitely see the appeal, autobox and all for the grip and acceleration offered.

StraightOuttaCanadaEh 06-26-2019 03:10 PM

what, like a letter?

Unless there is a MT involved and the Supra somehow becomes much cheaper, I will not be upgrading to one.

Fairly certain it's for the Supra. They did a press day a couple of weeks ago and now they want to bring the fans.

FLYFISHR 06-26-2019 07:13 PM

Missed RSVPing in time. Hope there will be another date to try and get my backside into a Supra just for giggles.

Cheeky 06-27-2019 01:15 AM

Dam man, email went to promo tab of my gmail so I never noticed it....

Was this a paid event? Any idea if someone can just show up to watch or something?

daftpunk 06-27-2019 01:16 AM

Toyota just covering their ass in anyway possible. I'm sure it'll be a stretch if whoever goes on the track actually gets to drive properly(hard/spiritedly), or if it'll be a speed limited cone event.

Edit: BTW your name is great. @daftpunk

wparsons 06-27-2019 10:12 AM

Last one was at the GP track, but they had the Supras at the DDT the other day.

Likely due to potential sound violation issues. Even the race track has to keep sound down.

I mean.. Not on bike weekends... SBK is crazy loud.

Big race weekends pay extra to run extended hours and not adhere to noise limits. If you think the bikes are loud, come for the IMSA weekend and listen to the 911 RSR's.

You mean a small package of crackers and one apple boxed juice.

Tokay444 06-27-2019 04:37 PM

There was no descriptors.

It'll likely be catered by CTMP, and their food is usually decent.

It won't be a typical track day, speeds will be slow and very controlled. I doubt they'll be using the skidpad at all.

TRAKRAVN 06-29-2019 06:47 PM

Is there anyway to get the info for this? I haven’t gotten any email or anything about it.

Weird...bought my car new and in the 5.5 years I owned it I never once got an invite to one of these. What was the criteria in order to be invited by Toyota, if any?

Probably just a randomizer.

Black cars probably get first invites because best colour though.

Hahaha for sure

Tokay444 07-02-2019 01:06 PM

Just need to have given them your email, and then not marked them as spam.

They keep a notation in their system if you asked for a discount when you purchased your car and if you did they automatically exclude you.

Very funny :slap:

If that were true I should have had VIP access, no discount on the Monogram Edition

Heard a funny but sad story from a Mercedes owner in Michigan a few years ago. The local MB dealer held a track day for the AMG owners. A few days after the event, one guy with an CLA45 has engine problems. The same dealer denied warranty on the ground that the car was raced!!!!

Yep, got one yesterday. Just wondering did anyone list a strut tower bar as a mod? Would that be okay to have?

Edit: Toyota emailed me back. They are okay to have.
