Delayed again
 

Just got a message from my dealer this morning. My GTS Manual's scheduled production has been pushed from September to November now (Not sure why a whole month has been skipped).

Order was placed June 18th, originally going to be for Aug built, Sept delivery and that slipped like everyone elses by a month.

Trying to call him back now to get more info, not sure if anyone else if experiencing this. Was looking forward to having car scheduled for production next month and now its an even longer wait! But what can you do.

Come on Toyota, getting rid of the spare wheel was supposed to get us more volume by aligning our production spec with Europe!

My guess that i was getting it closer to xmas really is coming true (unfortunately):sigh:

June 18 order for Aug production, then September production.... I think your dealer was having a lend. My May 1 order I was told on June 8 that I "might" get Sept production - after being told June production on May 1.

Can only tell you what the system tells you at the time, I saw the screenshot. Just got off the phone with him, could jump around again next month. Simple problem is too much demand and Oz is at the lower end of the Toyota food chain. Might as well delay it so its a 2013 car.

Your car doesn't have a scheduled for production month yet. There is no way your dealer could know this unless he has a buddy in the Suby factory or something. He's probably just guessing based on their order sheet and how many are coming through.

I'd ask him straight up where he got this information from.

You were just unfortunate to order when you did as your dealer had no allocated cars of that spec left for you so all you could do is wait until the first production run which was August/September.

I pre-ordered mid march...

Finally I have a August production - End of sept delivery.

Unless you see the tracking with a production month, then you cant really believe what the dealers are saying. My dealer found out about the ETA on the same day as my tracking updated.

In the end, 1st allocations were done to the dealers regardless of what pre-orders the dealership had. Some people got lucky and the dealer got a car in their spec. I didnt, and the other 2 guys infront of me didnt either.

What has happened as happened. Hopefully toyota will learn from this.

A bit more communication was needed from toyota to advise customers of what the process is and waiting times.

Im sure this would be easy enough to communicate.

Car is in high demand, so there is going to be mistakes and things missed and some unhappy people. :slap: It sucks but what can you do.

Does your tracker show scheduled for production or in production? And it definitely shows August? I have been told a few times from various sources there was no August production run any more.

Yeah same as me ordered early march, was supposed to be aug delivery now been pushed back twice ! Now oct delivery.
If I has gone to another dealer, I'd be driving my car.

3rd of may - got my tracking On order

20th of June On order AUGUST production month came up.

24th of July changed from on Order to Schedule for production august production

1st of august - pickup eta came up online 29/09/2012
Dealer sent me an email on the same day saying 24th sept eta.


Just waiting for it to change from Scheduled to IN production.

Forgot to mention I pre-ordered mid march

NO AUGUST PRODUCTION.

Dunno if it is true, but my dealer called me a couple of weeks ago and told me my August build was delayed to September for October delivery.

WOW i am astounded on some of the push outs i am reading here.

i had my first, and there wont be another, i told the dealer so. and they understood.

the car wont go begging that is for sure. will just switch to plan B.

was advised as much as they can assure me, it will be the last push as far as they can see and they fully understand the annoyance.

on the flip side i am not in a hurry, i justy have a timeline to follow and i promised myself a new car for my birthday, so its the whole principle of the thing. i admire you die hards who keep getting pushed out.

I told you guys the dealers have no control over the delivery dates on the car until there is A20 (Production Confirmed) your car can bounce months for production

trueno86, i do remember that you also got urs from le mans, footscray? I got a call too yesterday about the spare tyre issue and my dealer was still unsure about oct/nov as well. I wonder who's higher on the list, me or you lol

Was your order an august build ? Does the online tracking say planned procudtion month august

Thats what my dealer told me, I didn't bother checking myself.

I asked him about that, he said it wouldnt matter so much. But I ordered Jun 18 if thats any indication.

The way I see it, it gives me more time to run my old car into the ground and save by paying into the deposit :)

It can push out past the January 'promise' for as long as my old car runs ;)

My car is on its last legs. Every day I pray it will start, and even it does I pray it won't stall. Hoping I can get into the new one without spending $ on it.

Same here. Celica is 22 years old, 445,000 Kms. Struggling.
Had to renew rego for 6 months, 2 weeks ago. Was hoping I would get the 86 last month. But have to wait till end of sept.

I have the exact same date of 29/09 online tracking eta
Ours will be on the same boat and my dealer confirmed today that mine comes off the production line 27/8 so it'll be a couple of weeks till it says in production.
The 24/9 is when the car is supposed to arrive at the dealers but he said it may come to him on the Friday before (21st) and the online tracking is being conservative with 29th as eta

Nah. The new cars just seem to crumple up even in small accidents. I have had 3 cars rear end the celica with no visible damage on my car (paint line cracks). Their cars we're $4000-$8000 fixes.

Even the front is built tough. 15cm x 15cm square beams front and back right under the square bumper skin.

When did you pre-order.?

Pre-ordered March 20th. Originally told July delivery, same as you.
Hey at least we still get the full sized spare!
I'll upload on here when my status changes to in production, should be the same date as yours.

21/06/12 - ordered White GTS Manual for September production/October delivery from Le mans deer park
17/07/12 - had to go in and ask about ETA after seeing delay bulletin and spare tyre delete. Dealer did not contact me or anything prior to visit. Was told October production/November delivery
06/08/12 - visited again for update: now November production/December delivery

i got sept/oct then oct/nov, there wont be another.

How do you track your order? Don't think I have any tracking number on my pre-order contract.

I was told to use my batch number as user ID and password... When i log in, it says my batch number doesn't exist and doesn't log me in..

I swear there better not be for me.. Reckon there's any chance of scoring some freebies when we pick up our cars? Slim chance, but I want to be compensated for the spare tyre delete..

Batch number is userid but the password is another RNG. My dealer mixed them up when he gave them to me. If you don't have the numbers just pester your dealer until you can login.

no such tracking for me. just a call once a month. wait isnt killing me just the 4 weekly push outs are a set back when your geared to accept something in a specific time frame.

ah well, heaps of cars out there. i think what kept me in the game was saying i didnt care about the whole spare tyre thing. i think for a few it was a deal breaker and for the dealers too.

just got a call from the dealer today and have been delayed a few weeks

Don't mind too much, gives me time to save up for opti-coat, wheels and extras etc... still - I have such a shitty old honda accord and really want this vehicle.

Well I just got delayed for the second time... dealer says maybe november delivery now.
Pretty unhappy considering I ordered 5/6
