Joying 10.1" Android 8.1 4gb+32gb Intel 8-core +DSP
 

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post a review of Joying 10.1" android 8.1 headunit.

The specs are
SKU:JY-UO134N4GS
CPU:Intel Airmont eight-core 1.8GHz SC9853i
Ram:LPDDR4 4GB
Rom:Samsung 64GB
Support Apple Carplay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, WiFi, DVR, OBD2, Back Up Camera, Digital Sound Processor, and 4g LTE

I've been using it for the last two months and its been awesome. It fits the car dash perfectly in my opinion. Also it supports Apple car-play without the use of a dongle using Z-link. Also the screen is massive and you can install your normal android apps on it if you like. Most importantly is that it doesn't block the vents and I was able to get it to fit mostly perfectly on the 2017 Toyota 86 dash. It does block the digital clock however there's a clock in apple car play. See the attached images

It's mostly plug and play if you get the Toyota wiring harness. The only thing is to run the OEM backup camera you will need to get a step-down to go from 12v to 6v. Everything else was a plug and play. Also you will need an adapter if you want to support the oem usb connector and 3.5mm audio jack.

If you do decide you want this, you need to order the Toyota wiring harness otherwise it won't be mostly plug and play.

what do I need to get the oem usb/audio jack input to work? 2013 brz

also I'm noticing they have a 4g version, I wonder if this will work with my spare project fi data only sim card.

Few questions:
Does the OEM mic on the roof still work?
Is it wireless or wired android auto?
Does it have the pesky "safety" where you wont be able to input or watch vids while the car is in motion?

Did you get your back-up camera working too?

Wow that does look pretty good. Did you need to buy the mounting kit? And does it have a SD card slot?


Nevermind, I ordered it and installed it yesterday. Took me a bit to notice that the DVR seeing was off in the factory settings SMH. I was like where's the damn DVR app lol. This unit is very zippy and damn it looks huge on the dash. I just find it odd that they didn't set this up with quick boot. Even though it starts up from cold boot really fast. I just find that really pointless when these units have been doing quick boot for a bit now. My only setback is that the z link doesn't want to work with my OnePlus 6T but it does work with my moto E4 backup phone. Other than that, I'm loving this HU.

Hey sorry for being gone for a while.

AX-SUBUSB to retain your factory USB port and for the audio jack you will need this Axxess AX-TOY28SWC. I haven't tried wiring the audio and I can't promise that will work.

You have to tap into the oem mic if you want it to work. Also it's wired android auto and nope it doesn't have the pesky safety thing you can disable it in the settings menu.

Yes I did I had to buy an adapter for the backup camera to step down to the 6v from the factory oem 12v.

Did you retain your steering wheel controls?

Is you capacitive back button working?

mine does but its pretty bad in sensitivity. I feel like all the left side buttons are pretty bad in this regard.

have you been able to get rid of the black box with grey circle for fast keys?

After a few emails they are sending me a new screen.

i remapped mine. for the x and y axis. much better now

There's a setting somewhere to disable it. Touch helper or something like that

Ended up ordering the 10.1 with the Hilux harness. I saw John Nguyen's video on youtube and apparently the stock amp wasn't turning on. Anybody had this or know how to fix it? My unit is with DHL right now.

Could be two things. You might need to Repin a cable in the harness. I know that was issue on my first joying HU. If it's the new Intel model you have to turn on app setting on the HU. Might be pointless now since it's been a while and you probably figured it out now.

So I had purchased older PX5 unit not realizing it afterwards. From the beginning the capacitive back button didn't function. They ended up sending another screen and that had same issue. They sent a few update files and nothing. Last attempt ended up getting the HU stuck in bootloop. They had me try SD tool recovery method with no luck. I ended up sending them back one of the screens and the main board. Paid $60 and they sent me the newer Intel unit. This thing is way way better. No issues at all. Extremely responsive.

I need to figure out a way stop sun reflecting on chrome part of screen. It's annoying.

Plastidip the chrome bits to matte black.

Vinyl wrap the chrome bits to any dark color

Put a sticker over the chrome bits to any dark color (add a logo to be fancy.)

Vinyl wrap in either silver or black brushed aluminum OR metallic black vinyls will look like it came that way from the factory. Take your time and carefully install it over the chrome bezel.

Here's an example of it put all over the dash piece. It's a bit much here, but will give an idea of the finish on the smaller chrome parts of the head unit display.

Do you have aftermarket speakers and a sub too? I really want to know the sound quality vs something like my pioneer HU and if DSP really helps. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
