davey90 07-31-2012 06:13 PM

Who is he trying to rip off? Lol! My GTS auto is not even worth that much.

JiB 07-31-2012 06:36 PM

With no paddles shifters or LSD the auto GT is the least value for money. But given how quick they disappear off carsales they seem to be popular too. :iono:

Nafe 07-31-2012 06:54 PM

Wow, expensive!! But that’s the thing, some people will happily pay the extra for immediate delivery. Doesn’t make much sense to me!!

Xauterus 07-31-2012 07:58 PM

Did he force you to buy it? Is that how you got ripped off? Mines worth $120 000. Want to buy it? It's manual

from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rip+off
1.an act or instance of ripping off another or others; a theft, cheat, or swindle.

2.exploitation, especially of those who cannot prevent or counter it.

There is no rip off here. It is inflated price but no one is being forced to buy the car. I would be more inclined to make fun of someone buying the car than a business try to make money given the opportunity.

Supply and demand my friend.

Why are diamonds worth more than cubic zirconia

AUmarvin 07-31-2012 08:25 PM

Well, all he needs is someone to be ignorant of the RRP, or willing to pay to have a car straight away. Its a free market. Wont be me though.

DanVIIIVI 07-31-2012 09:07 PM

TMCA will not be very pleased. They sent out a bulletin to all dealers just after the launch specifying in no uncertain terms that the vehicles are NOT to be sold above RRP.

I award his courage for trying to take advantage of the good ol' supply vs demand debacle; and there will almost certainly be someone out their prepared to pay an excess for immediate delivery.

lokvo 07-31-2012 09:26 PM

Yep...that's totally worth it.

Suffa 07-31-2012 09:29 PM

diamonds have a hardness of 10 on Mohs scale, CZ's is like 8ish. also the scale is not relative, so diamonds hardness is not 20% harder than cz, it is 1000%'s harder :)

Plus cubics are man made, where as diamonds are naturally formed. BUT, there is such a thing as man made diamonds (synthetic diamonds) but they can only make them in a size of around 1/4 carats, so nothing to worry about yet.

:threadjacked: :P

Bonburner 07-31-2012 09:38 PM

well with only 1 plant in the world maybe all the cars are being sent to the US for 24k ~ lol

genometuning 07-31-2012 09:56 PM

maybe the car prices are higher down there in australia? I know a BMW3 series (30k here) is 50k there. i dont know toyota prices though.

st162celica 07-31-2012 10:22 PM

you wouldnt happen to have a copy of that would you??

Satu23 07-31-2012 10:41 PM

That's just absurdly overpriced and it also seems to be a demo car with almost 1000km on the clock rofl...

though there are 3 other 86 GTs on carsales with even cheaper prices lol which again is still a rip off...

Not sure who would buy a demo car that would have been flogged so much and pay a premium on top

We're all paying excess for this car even at the current RRP. We're all being ripped off man. RRP is close to 39k. this aint a 39K car. Just sayin. I still ordered one!!!! :burnrubber: yay!!!

DanVIIIVI 07-31-2012 11:13 PM

As defined above, a "Rip Off" is where the purchaser was unable to avoid the excessive price charged. You made the decision to buy the vehicle, therefore you weren't ripped off.

Also, the Retail prices set by Toyota i think are very conservative, i would be inclined to say the Stamp Duties, Dealer Delivery Fees, and registration costs are the only rip offs associated with most new vehicle purchases.

Azzaboynt 07-31-2012 11:58 PM

The dealer will probably justify the price with "It's got aftermarket tint, paint protection, interior protection, and includes dealer delivery fee, taxes etc..."

I'd like to see anyone getting into a new 3 series of 50k on the road, try 65k

And in my opinion, we are being exploited and swindled in Australia. It would be very difficult to prevent or counter the price of at least 38K for the top model. In my opinion, this is too much. No one is twisting my arm to buy the car. I can afford the car. But at the same time, I don't agree with the price we are paying. This is only my opinion on the matter. :party0030:

sticky 08-01-2012 01:24 AM

hmm it seems to have been unlisted. wonder if some sucker actually bought it?

Hardness has nothing to do with it since synthesized can be/is used for industrial application. For bling bling hardness doesn't matter. They expensive cuz you want to pay for them ;)

you can sell a used car for whatever you want, look at anything BROCK in the commodore range for instance. Does that mean people selling those cars are ripping others off? As for a new car-yes you are correct, it needs to comply with RRP.

spr1nter 08-09-2012 07:15 PM

Raise you one! Now THIS is a rip off! :confused0068:
