Fossy Shift Knobs caught my attention..

I see these two shift knobs that I really like, but I was wondering what the deal is about the weight. Like how much of a difference does it make? pros and Cons? As a person who's always stuck with stock knobs I don't have much experience with this so a little help would come in handy:)

They are amazing quality. The heavyweight will make your shifting smoother i have the shortie redhead and it actually feels like it just wants to float into the next gear.

how does it look from the drivers view? I saw pictures of those on the website and they also caught my attention but the texture didn't look as smooth and fancy as the ones I listed above.

Like this view? This knob is textured it dissipates the heat so it doesn't get as hot. Its like a textured powder coat.

I just got my Flossy Grip Tape Shorty a few days ago. I've never had a weighted shift knob before and I LOVE the effect. Shifts are smoother, and more solid feeling. High quality product. Highly recommended!

enjoi23 07-31-2012 12:13 AM

what about these? I've never heard of this brand before but the knobs look nice..

i thought only the shorty knobs will work on m/t for the reverse function.

What are they made of?

Lee358 07-31-2012 12:25 AM

the Red head shorty specs

CNC produced with CARBON STEEL material
Powder Coated and Texturized for Grip and Feel
Coating allows for "cooler" effect, so knob stays cooler than most
Machined Threading allows for precision fitment with NO Delrin Inserts (bye-bye plastic)
Custom laser engraving on rounded surface so logo and coating never wears
Stealth series has small Flossy logo
Made in the USA 100% FLOSSY
500 GRAMS OF BUTTERYNESS
Stealth Series

correct because we have the lockout that you must pull up on the little nub on the bottom of the knob will block that.

Asterisked Accolade 07-31-2012 01:08 AM

Am i one of the only ones who doesn't like round shift knobs? What about cylindrical knobs?

I much prefer round. Unassuming looks and great feel.

Oh, i see.

Well you know, the most remarkable round shift knob i've seen (stock) was on the IS300. I wonder if anyone has thought about putting one in their FRS.

UM FRS 07-31-2012 11:10 AM

Just ordered my black shorty Flossy yesterday with custom engraving. Correspondence was great and I received an email this morning letting me know the product was shipped. I'll post picks once it arrives...........unfortunately, my car won't be here for 3 weeks still!

I kind of like these BLOX knobs you linked to.
What do you think goes better with a WRB BRZ? Yeah they're a little flashy but since I'll have the premium with mostly dark interior it will give a little more pizzaz I'm thinking.

For an frs, yes..but for another car maybe

eriktherod 08-01-2012 07:50 PM

Also check out WC Lathe Werks, Chris does amazing work over there.

I got the Stainless Steel sphere with engraving and Gun Metal finish. Not cheap, but damn is it worth it. Works great with the reverse ring as well, very heavy feel, love it!

Here's a couple of pics of mine:

Parked in first (or maybe reverse):

hopefully more will come. emailed them asking if others would be available soon. awaiting reply..

holy crap though these flossy knobs are $110! the Blox ones I was looking at and the Team Voodoo knobs are like half of that, and nearly as heavy. The Blox is 490g vs the flossy 500g.

I've only read positive things about the flossy knobs. Has anybody tried both?

and what happened to the FLossy Group Buy thread?

But other knobs might have to pay more for custom engraving.I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for"but these flossy knobs seem the be fair.

enjoi23 08-02-2012 05:28 PM

I mailed flossy about more options like the eltons coming with reverse lockout and they sent me this

Hello-

Thanks for the interest in our ish! We actually are planning to release the Elton in the Shorty (with reverse lockout) in the near future. If you would be interested, we can make one for you completely custom, and can have it ready in 2-3 weeks at the MOST (most likely less time). Let us know if this interests you, as it would be the same price as a normal Elton Heavyweight.
