What is this part?

And what does it do?

It’s located at the bottom of the car kind of underneath the dash area. Centered but offset a little to passenger’s side. You can see it if you open the hood and look from the passenger’s side down the hole to the area?

JD001 12-09-2018 12:52 AM

Are you looking to take weight out of your car?

Tcoat 12-09-2018 01:19 AM

Need a better picture. Can't even tell where that is much less what it is.

extrashaky 12-09-2018 01:38 AM

That's amazing. I didn't know you could take a picture with a potato.

Welcome to our happy clan, there, Silverz -

Well, I went out to my car and looked down there, but didn't see anything like that.

It sort of looks like a greasy pivot arm off of an old Case combine (but this is the FR-S/BRZ channel - sorry.

How about orientating your picture for us - which end is up?

Is your car an AT or MT?

Yep, like said, a better picture would be helpful.

Why do you want to know what it is and what it does - ;)

Yeah, I think we're all going to need a better picture to be any help here. I don't have a clue what I'm looking at there.

I love those kinds of posts. It makes me sharpen my mind reading skills. Sadly I have to face to face with the person in order to work.
Works better if we are locked in a passionate kiss. But most people don't want to get that close. And I'm a total noob when it comes to telepathy, so. I wish I could be better help.

At those point all I can do is advise you to sell car and by a nice new Honda Civc Si or if you got the extra cash a type R.

ToySub1946 12-09-2018 02:54 AM

chingadara

Mexican Spanish.

Noun cognate of the Spanish verb "chingar", which originally meant "to split lengthwise". In current usage, chingadera refers to anything for which the speaker has momentarily forgotten the word, especially things of little value or broken. Chingar may still refer poetically to splitting things lengthwise, though most Spanish speakers are now unaware of this archaic sense. Thus: "una chingadera de leñas" means either a small pile of firewood, or some quanitity of split firewood, such as a cord.

When the old lady at the Latin market dropped her weird hairy chayote squash and shouted, "Ah! Chingada!", I don't think she meant it had split lengthwise.

Lol. It’s like trying to snap a pic of the Loch Ness monster I tell you. Let me try this again with the aid of a light. First pic is the general location and second pic is the actual item. Situated above the exhaust. Just curious what it is and if it looks normal.

Yes that whole thing should be remove and a manual transmission installed.

extrashaky 12-09-2018 12:59 PM

Transmission control shaft lever. When you move your shifter, the linkage moves that lever to actually put the transmission in gear.

Sadness control lever

Looks a bit like a grenade fuse, and the spoon is gone. I'd leave it alone.

ETA: Clean your engine bay.

ETA 2: This should be a contest, rando bad photos of parts, first to ID gets nothing.

Hey, I asked the OP up in post #5 if he had an AT, got no response - :iono:

Besides, aren't you supposed to be doing something else - like draining your garden hoses, or putting the freeze protectors over the outside spickets, or cleaning out the gutters or insulating the chicken coop ????

I have a red in stock. But there is a 2 week wait for any color you want. But really it's just a couple of days. Just the paper work is the problem.

JD001 12-09-2018 10:54 PM

I have a sneaky suspicion that the OP's car may have picked up a rouge Toyota rally part whilst on the production line. The brace has rally written all over it.. then again I could be completely wrong.. hey ho!

HOT DANG!

That is exactly what ol humfrz needs.

* 306 HP; 295 ft lbs torque

* 4 doors, to be able to load and unload the granddaughters quicker

* a handy hatch design for there backpacks

* no more being last out the school parking lot

* no more embarrassing comments from my granddaughters "pa-pa, Mary's mom, in her mini-van, got ahead of us - again"

RED, YES! Will that impress the old gals up at Walmart … or what - :happyanim:

No more worrying about weak valve springs, bad TOB, dangerous torque dip, annoying crickets, grinding gears and lack of power.

OK, now, how much will you give me on trading in my FR-S? - it's cherry!

You'll need plastic covers and floor mats to counter car sickness induced through the driving style that you'll need to adopt. We can all chip in to get a Burberry baseball cap (special type with the peak stitched to the back)..

The only issue is that cap clearly has a curved brim and no sticker. No self respecting Honda owner (or most Subaru's for that matter) want's a curved brim.
