We need to cruise the Tail of the Dragon
 

I'm just throwing this out there. We need to organize a big meet-up/cruise in western Tennessee, with emphasis on the Tail of the Dragon. I keep hearing about how awesome it is, and looking at the maps and pictures all I can do is drool.:drool: I live in Arkansas, so I can't just go there on a whim, but it would be less than a full day's drive for me if we were to plan a weekend for it. If we could get some locals to the area to look into this, maybe check on hotel group rates and whatnot, I could see this becoming a big event. :thumbup:

If I recall correctly, I think the 8th Gen Civic folks do their annual Tail of the Dragon drives in the same season. I'd hate to intrude over their weekend - unless they'd be willing to organize a combined event, possibly to score lower rates on nearby lodging. :burnrubber:

Yeah, the Mini club does their annual meet there, too. I'm in!

The southeast region of nasioc does a dragon trip every year - I'm sure the BRZ crowd would be welcome. We used to do that meet every year in the SVX. It is scheduled for September 7-9 this year. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2327784

Lots of other roads I greatly prefer (basically pick any of them near there) but deals gap is worth doing at least once in your life. After a couple times I got bored of it and moved on to more relaxing, less repetitive roads.

Good! I hope you are doing well. One of these days we'll make it back to the dragon. We'll just have to bring the kids along with us and hope the ride doesn't make them puke!

Plus it has lots of traffic and is heavily patrolled. Many tickets handed out for speed and left of center. MR2 Spyder owners are heading there in mid to late September for their annual fall run and again in April or May for their 13th annual Spring run.

Here are my pics from my Tail of the Dragon run...great fun.

I was in knoxville a couple of months ago and took the long way back to Charlotte to include a trip across the dragon in my rented chevy sonic. That poor car.

But do be careful. A local club made a run there this spring and one of the guys left the road in his M6 and totalled it and another guy (not with the club) launched off the road into the trees as well. I think a harley guy dies while they were there as well.

I haven't been to the Dragon since around 2004 but I'd love to go back, and I live way closer this time around.

Was that a photo from killboy or one of the other local pros? Or did you drop off a friend and make a few passes?

I'd love to go to the Dragon's Tail, but like someone already from what I've read up on and seen in vids. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL! The guys from skyline owners usa went one year, they got lucky and was able to run the road first right after it reopened due to a mud-slide that morning. It heavily patrolled because of all the sport cars and bikes, along with all the accidents that has happend there.

That was done by 129slayer, I have some others shots taken by moonshinephoto and killboy that I will post later.

I'm down. I used to go with the Z club every May.

This reminds me, I need to pull up the dates I was last through Deal's Gap and see if anybody snapped photos of me.
