Help Deciding On A Custom Plate

Hey Everyone! Thanks to the hard work of @Veloist I found out I'm the lucky owner of #15\500 of the 2018 BRZ tS.

My dilemma now is figuring out which color to go with for my personalized plates. Maybe Y'all can help me out!

(I'm partial to the red, but I'm not married to it)

Thanks in advance!

Indiana has some great plates. Hell our normal flag plate is decent. Ton of options here.

Op: are there any other choices you have in Texas, or are these your only options?

There's over 600 different plates to choose from for Texas. A lot of them are just colleges\college teams, but yeah it's pretty nice to have so many choices.

Red with a black frame to divide the red from the blue. Works' with the red accennt line.

A lot of those seem redundant. Like two pages of disabled veteran plates.

Pink camo all the way!

My thoughts as well. I've shown some people at work and none of them really "see it" though. My wife is partial to the blue but something about the red just looks great to me (with a frame of course).

I wish I had kentucky plates. Full black "Friend of coal"

Custom plates FTW!

Some of those Texas plates look dope. But Florida beats them cause of no front plate required and no emissions or inspections.

Our friends of coal plate is kinda lame.

None of the pics are loading for me in either Chrome or Safari.
But since you have a WRB tS, I'd go for one of the mostly blue plates.
It generally looks pretty cool when your plate mostly matches your car.

Or contrary to @yurikaze's idea, go for one that gives contrast on your body-color:

Just a matter of taste, and if you want it to blend in or not with the car.

WRB

Strange they're not loading. I posted with Chrome from Google Photos.

You have to use direct links to the photos and make sure that they're public (or viewable with link).

So the links/URLs you need to use here end with .jpg or whichever file format your photos are.

Somehow I've managed to have never been pulled over due to no front plate. I'm sure it'll happen now that I've said something though.

Swabodda 10-05-2018 11:01 PM

Google photos wasn't allowing the photos to display even though I had them as public. Used imgur and they seem to be working now.

Y'all need to stop waisting your money on custom plates. The state government gets that money, yearly. What do they do with it ? It's just a plate, I don't see the draw , is it lighter … does it help you stop ?

Yeah, I'm a hater. I was thinking of getting one myself, I just don't see myself giving my state DMV $50-75 yearly, just for a custom plate.

Why do you bother getting a car that requires more expensive gas? You’re only increasing how much you spend on gas and likely how much more often you fill up for rich billionaire oil people to get richer.

Grady 10-06-2018 09:28 AM

One of the black plates. The blue plates are not close enough in color. I wish Texas had the all black with the yellow lettering. That would look good on my 17 yello! Right after I purchased my car I was drinking and interneting. More dangerous on your pocket book than drinking and driving. Was on the MYplates site trying combinations of plates and it took PHUQUEU. Luckily Texas caught it and rejected it.

I wouldn't give California any more money than I had too either. Texas is the greatest state in the solar system, though... And I'm not stressing over $90/year.

90? I remember paying $150 for mine, granted I only paid for 1 year.

Yeah, I know. I drive low mileage per year ( 1500- 4k) on the FRS, and as much of the maintenance is done by myself. I put more miles on my xA per year, that takes 87 octane. I also ride my bicycle as much as I can as well. I keep yearly mileage driven to 8-10K. In other words, in my lifetime I shouldn't need another vehicle (at my age) , so I'm pretty much done. Gas... insurance , Registration ( a custom plate would be part of this) on FRS is about $280, and what needed maintenance per year is what I pay.

You're correct, 1 year is $150. 5 years is $450.

86MLR 10-09-2018 02:07 AM

Here in AU, my plate cost: initial order payment of $300 + $107, then $107 per year.

If I wanted full custom, $464 per year.

I was looking at getting SLOW86, until I enquired about the cost, $464 F that, that how much my insurance costs.
