Red FRS USED for the low price of $33,888!!!!

I guess this is one way around scion "pure pricing". Drive the car 11 miles sell it to a friend and call it used.

"Hurry and take advantage now! Less than 1k miles!!! You don't have to worry about depreciation on this great FR-S!!!!"

i should sell mine, buy a new one and get a turbo fr-s!

deucethemoose 07-27-2012 05:31 PM

Someone brought in an asphalt 6MT with 200 miles on it for trade. The dealer gave him MSRP for it, so they have it for sale at 30K... They'll be hard pressed to find someone to buy it at that price.

Why he got rid of it? 200 miles and that was it?

Yeah. Didn't even get through the first tank of gas. I don't know what he traded for or any other specifics. My dealer called me before he finished the trade-in paperwork and wanted to know if I wanted it. I told him at that price I'd wait for a new one and save a few thousand dollars.

Story I heard is that the guy wanted something more comfortable and automatic since he drives around a lot, so he traded it in for a Prius C.

Maybe they mistakenly think it's an LFA.

Or maybe they're just a-holes.

zombie 07-27-2012 08:29 PM

Thanks...but I'll just take the depreciation hit and buy new. Appreciate the offer though lol.

Do you at least get a complimentary jar of Vaseline if you purchase that car?

Actually, that car has by been on sale at that 2nd hand dealership since June @ 28,000. Guess they couldn't sell it for that price so now they're tossing it on ebay to try and cut their losses. lol. They took a gamble and assumed people couldn't wait to order one at the dealership and buy theirs instead.
But 90% of the dealers in Portland are selling at MSRP with no markup.

titusdrake 07-28-2012 03:00 AM

My dealer mentioned they would do this if I didnt buy it (First86) I hate dealerships

For some reason I feel sorry for that FRS.

OldSkoolToys 07-28-2012 05:22 AM

Yeah, don't have to worry about depreciation.....on a car who's sales price is over appreciated by almost 10k.

RandomHero 07-28-2012 03:51 PM

Email that dear and offer $19k see if he bites. Maybe its haggle markup? hahaha

Danny3602 07-28-2012 08:08 PM

I went to that Lexus/Subaru of Pembroke pines dealer when i first started looking for the car. They are adding minimum $5,000 over MSRP on ever BRZ they get and confident as hell that they will sell for that. they were also extremely misinformed about the car.
