FRS BRZ Receiver Hitch
Anyone know where I might find one? Need a 1 1/4" hitch for a bike rack. Surely someone has one in the works...
|
Check your manual, Toyota does not recommend that you fit any bike racks, tow hitches or anything of the like to your car; Also in my opinion, it will look horrible on the car...

I want a hitch for bikes also. I emailed Curt - they said more or less no.
But if you can get this "one off" I'd be interested! |
It was the same problem with the EvoX - sooner or later someone figures out there's a lot of people that want one.
|
I would get one so I can haul my motorcycle to the race track (for now I will be swapping the FR-S for my buddies 2012 silverado for the day)
I started a thread about towing with the FR-S too |

No solution yet, but there is a bright spot in the potential for a hitch for the car... |

Someone please do this. Free hitch!
|
I emailed curt hitches, because i live 2 hours away, also i am an avid biker. If they need my help im willing to drive there.
|
Where is this hitch going to attach? And why on earth do all you guys insist on using a 2 door coupe to take your bike out?!?! Can you even get to the trails with this car? lol hope you get your hitches soon!
|
So far it seems like the safest option is suction cup mounts.
http://www.seasucker.com/shop/bomber/ These are used on most sports cars. |
Anyone have any luck yet?
|
I'm able to get my mountain bike in the trunk after I remove the front wheel and lay the rear seats down. haha My particular bike has "knock off" wheels so they can be removed or installed in about 30 seconds each. Just make sure it's clean and try not to scuff it up!

^I too have been able to get my bike in and out of my FRS. It isn't super easy, but it will fit.
|
I've gotten two MTBs in my FRS, removing wheels, pedals and seats. I travel to ride, and that involves lots of other stuff to put in the car. I also have a Toyota 4x4 truck, but it averages ~17 mpg instead of 30 mpg, which can make a significant difference in fuel consumption on a multi-thousand mile road trip. Yes, the FRS will get to 99% of all the trails I've ridden all over the US. Point of the thread is to source a solution for those that are in the market for a receiver hitch, though I do appreciate the questions and suggestions.
|
I'm not a biker, that's obviously why god invented cars...
However, wouldn't a roof rack be better than a rear mounted rack? Around here whenever I see hipsters with fixed gears (or even actaully cyclists with real bikes) they are always on the roof, even saw a 370 Z the other day with two bikes on top. |

I have a design at a machinist now and supposedly they have to run 3 sets of these (2 bars per set) to make up for bringing in the material (1.125" stainless rod). The design is based on using a roof rack mount from 1UP USA ($199). If anyone is interested, please PM me as I'd like to unload the other 2 sets of bars to some members looking for a convenient way to tote their bike. |

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got the custom U-Haul hitch made for my FR-S, and it's now available. 150lb. max tongue weight...1500lb. max trailer weight. Attached a couple pics:

I just noticed that Curt now has a BRZ hitch. Looks like it uses different mounting points, judging by the photo.
http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitc...leid=201322576 http://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/gr...1379_2_500.jpg They also sell a trailer lighting harness that doesn't require splicing taillight wires. |
A member on this forum sells them. Very well made.
