Did a thing, converted to complete hydraulic no more TOB problems ever again.

Taken me 8 months to design this and get it right.
Installed yesterday Billet mounting plate and highly modified Tilton hydraulic release bearing. Enjoy pics below. Currently at 50miles of stop and go side streets working like a dream. No more chirpy chirpy grindy ever again. “Patent Pending” |
Wow!
|
SO. MUCH. WANT...if it works well that is ;) Since it's patent pending, I assume you're considering selling this as a bolt on solution?
|
Are you planning on selling this? I've been wanting to buy one but Money Shift Racing's is taking too long to come out.
EDIT: See that you're affiliated with Money shift racing, DAMMIT YALL HURRY UP I WANT IT. |
Interesting!
 humfrz |
Holy want. Nice job man, hope it stands the test of time.

hmm... looks like that might fit my Quaife QBE60G too. Then again, I don't really use the clutch that much. :bellyroll:

Haha! I'm the one guy on here that doesn't use facebook. or Tweeter. Or Instantgram. Sigh...I'll find the info somehow;) |

Looks good !
|
Pretty awesome :o

Looks interesting. Pitty it's hard to put into words subjective thing like how now clutch usage may feel. Noises quietened would be unimportant to me, but rather how it feels with leg, with what pressure it needs to be pressed compared to stock, how long travel, how progressive is engagement after bite point, how easy to feel bite point ..
|
Leave a brother hanging like that. Duuude... You don't know how tough it's been keeping my mouth shut. ;)
What's the throw compared to stock? That's all that matters. Oh, and this. Grrr... right? https://i.imgur.com/WV4DscQ.jpg |
Found the FB page, MSRP of $599 apparently :O thought it'd be more

Fully engaged at about 1/2 pedal distance. Can quick shift with no grinds at about half pedal press. I had to take the helper spring out to firm up the pedal it really lightened the stock pedal on first test drive. I think without the helper it’s easier to modulate the clutch it does not pop the pedal at a pivot point like it used too. |

As for the little notch all the factory raised castings need to be accounted for it to sit level and flush. |

No.. you're the other guy. I'm the one guy. |

I'll have to find moneyshifts phone number and call them up on this one. Any idea when testing might be wrapped up and this might go on sale ? |

"Oh! EVERYONE will see it on facebook!" That's a definite NO. |
So how long does this thing last?

Damn, and I just bought a Verus clutch fork... hehe I think I'll wait for more reviews. Maybe a nice upgrade for next year. Looking forward to see and reading more about it!

This... is money. Awesome.

* does the bearing make constant contact with the pressure plate fingers? * how is the bearing lubricated? Thanks, humfrz |

The entire unit is rebuildable at a fraction of original cost. Seals and base are rated at over 1 million cycles. Im beating the heck out of it now trying to make it fail purposely riding the clutch shifting more than needed randomly pumping the pedal while driving let the car idle for a few hours sit at traffic lights holding the clutch in. ect..., but the amount of research and time is spent researching and designing parts I want this to be the last time anyone has to replace it. |
How does Tilton allow for co-axial tolerance?
|
@celek so this is what's been keeping you from the ITB's??? COME ON! Just kidding, this is badass dude!!

Piston Bearing and contact surface is not an off the self part from Tilton. |

To rephrase my question, is there allowance for the bearing and contact surface to float into position coaxial to the pressure plate under load? |

Nice!
|
Definitely looking forward to this as I'm always paranoid about my clutch system going bad (which I think it is).
|
How will this work with dual and triple disc setups with high pressure plate ratings??
looks awesome |

I have a little bit of give in the bearing to support a taller Pressure plate but if it is too tall I will have to custom one off the base to adjust the height. Unlike the original fork which has full movement this piston can only move so much before falling out. So it has to be engineered within the tolerance of space and available movement of the clutch its self. As for heavier plate ratings no problems at all. Its hydraulic. |
I built a setup like this back when i had a faceplated tremec trans behind an fa20. Much better feel than a fork and way more reliable (bent forks). Solid setup, nice work
