FRS Price Hike
So i have been bored these past two days and i decided to check auto trader to see how many were available within a 50mile radius. I used autotrader to locate my FRS by the way. The cheapest price i saw was 26,030 for manual when they were originally 24,900, at least thats what mine was a week ago. They have a blue auto priced at 28,160 in one dealership. I think what some dealerships are doing are adding accessories automatically to the car and trying to force people to pay for them if they want the car.

accessories and other ridiculous add-ons like nitrogen in the tires and pinstriping

Bespoke add on ? Rust proofing?

Yeah, I think that's what you'll find when you shop dealer lots... Unless someone ordered one basic like mine, but the deal fell apart and the car would then be available.
I think you may have to order one in order to have a better chance in having one without any extras to the cost especially... Fortunately, the MSRP on my ordered FR-S was $24,985. |
you can avoid all this by ordering one just the way you like it... at least one dealership in Houston, TX has told me they are currently taking 3-6 weeks to get new ones in.

This is why I ordered mine. No markups. 24,900 + delivery + 5AD spoiler. Only the options I wanted.

Don't forget to use your college graduate or military discount if you qualify for either of those!

Another vote for ordering, you get exactly what you want, nothing less, nothing more.

Yeah I got mine due to the deal falling apart for the person who ordered it. It came with the upgraded radio(don't have an iPhone, so I didn't care), mud flaps, and tinted to SC regs. I like it though, it's a red MT. I was marked to 26,852. Not too bad.
So right now I'm one of the few luckiest people in SC because it doesn't matter if you can afford it, but good luck finding one for sale. The southern region where I live isn't going to get very many shipped for a while. According to Toyota. For the 1k discounts they only apply if you financed though Toyota. They offered 10% with 2k down. I went to Navy Fed and got 3%. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk |
I wouldn't mind if the dealer wanted to charge extra and convert it to a GT86. ;)

That is why you go tell the dealer exactly what you want. Every FRS my girlfriend looked at *most were already sold or pending sale* had the BeSpoke system, nitro in the tires, rust proof.. you get the idea.
When we ordered hers we told them to leave all that crap off of it.. even got them to take out the BeSpoke and put the base HU in, which saved about $900 off the final price. Same thing for my Tundra.. No way I am paying $1000 for OEM side rails when I can get BETTER rails for less than half that price. All those dealer add-ons? Tell them to take em off |

You can go to most discount tire places and ask for Nitrogen. I also ordered dual valve stem wheels for the race car for purposes of purging air and filling with Nitrogen. I like racing on Nitrogen and it's cheap. It's the 4th most abundant gas in the universe after all. So yeah.. Nitrogen good but nitrogen as a "add-on" at the dealer... not good. |
They are still selling them for the original MSRP around here.
|
Yeah I was called and informed that 2 had arrived at the dealership but they told me they were 31k because of "beautiful" wheels that they put in.
