Switching from OFT to Ecutek
Has anyone done that? Is it really as simple as reload the factory ecu rom back to the car using OFT and then unmarried the device? Does this wipe all OpenFlash codes out of your ecu cleanly with no issue later on when install ecutek tune?
|
Yes, I used the OFT in the past. I unmarried the device and flashed back the stock tune. Now I am using an Ecutek tune without any issues.
|
I did this last week. You need to flash your original rom onto your ecu using the oft. After that openflash manager will allow you to erase all data on the tablet. This “unmarries” the device from your car. Click the download button in openflash manager after erasing the device. It should say the tablet has never been used.
Do these steps before installing the ecutek license and flashing your ecu with pro ecu. Your oft will remain locked to your car otherwise. |

Do I have to connect the tablet to the car when unmarrying/erasing data from the tablet? |

If the tuner wrote back a stock tune to car with ecutek it would unlock ecu, but if you then used oft to write back the oft stock rom you will loose your ecutek licience. If the tuner is prepared to renew your ecutek licience then you could unmarry oft that way. Otherwise you wont be able to unmarry the oft easily. I can do it but you would need to mail the oft unit and cables to me |

I’ll definitely write back the stock rom first using OFT before installing ecutek custom tune. Even though it means I may have to deal with couple days of CEL in between the tunes lol. |
Sorry to bring this thread back, I’m ready to move on to ecutek next week. I will do the following with my OFT, please correct me if I’m wrong or missing steps.
1. Flash stock ROM back to the car 2. Connecticut OFT to my pc and delete all the tune files on it and unmarry it Are these all? |

Yes Write stock tune back from slot called original Then on PC use erase function to completly erase and unmarty tablet, this is different to just erasing tunes. The full erase requires conmectoon to internet to talk to oft servers to confirm erase |

If the oft erases then rom was stock I thnk thier is also an asterix next tovthe tune oft thinks is in ecu |
I was referring to after I reload the stock ROM back into the car, can I use oft to check the current tune in the ecu is indeed stock rom?
|
just flashed stock rom back into my car and now I'm seeing the CEL lol. I'll have to deal with it until Monday after I install my new header and new tune.
|
I’m ready to unmarry my OFT today by using the Erase Data option, but I’m getting the error saying no more erase credit present, I have to email OpenFlash for more erase credit. This is the first time I’ve ever used the Erase function.

got it fixed, i reinstalled the OpenFlash Manager and it worked.

It was easy to flash back to stock before getting tuned with the Ecutek. If you have any issues there are youtube videos and instructions online how to demarry it, etc. |
