My 10-Series mod journal

I figured this would be fun to do, why not right? I try to stay more modest and quiet about my things on social media, however I think amongst the community or would be alright.

I purchased my car a little over a year ago, in December of 2016 buying the car out from Scion. I’m currently the second owner, my car had some extras from friends back home @Kusagaya @skanemura. Original owner of this car was my mother’s car @janet_86irl I’ve added in an article on here written by drivingline on the car.

https://www.drivingline.com/articles...nd-subaru-brz/

Car came on KWV3 coilovers, Volk G12 wheels, TRD exhaust, and the e-force kit.

Stuff I’ve added so far have been:

20% tint
Beatrush differential brace
Billion radiator cap
Cusco braided clutch line
HKS front pipe (current)
Beatsonic DRL module
Beatsonic antenna
Beatsonic CF roof spoiler
Beatrush oil sandwich plate
Cusco rear subframe bar
Defi oil pressure gauge
Defi boost gauge
DBW Motorsports tune
Greddy evo 3 (sold)
Koyo coolant neck
Radium crankcase catch can
Stri oil temp
Stri water temp
Tom’s tail lights
Tanabe front pipe (sold)
Toyota OEM mud guards
Sard oil pan drain plug
TRD door stabilizer
Ultra racing fender braces
Wrap intake box with heat tape
WRX PCV valve

Fluids I’m using are

ATE typ 200
Eneo’s 5W30 synthetic
Redline 75w90
Subaru coolant
Subaru 75w90 (diff)
Subaru OEM oil filters

Stuff waiting to go on:

Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +38 sourced locally I’m currently prepping and repainting.

Stuff waiting to be delivered:

Within the next few months:

255-35-18 tires
Beatrush underpanel
Beatrush foot rest thing
Beatrush rear performance bar
Beatrush rear strut bar
Cusco power brace front lower arm
Cusco power brace
oil cooler
SS brake lines
TRD short shift kit or FT86SF short shift kit (undecided still)
Trd fender extension

Wishlist before 2019 of January

Cleib exhaust
Cusco/safety21 roll bar (undecided) I love blue but like the stealth black as well.
Hotchkis sway bar
Koyo radiator
Personal grinta black/red 330mm leather steering wheel
Works bell long hub

I’ll be adding more pics and edits as I go!

Note: At the Subaru dealership, they recommended the 75w90 gear oil, which to my surprise was GL-5 fluid, not ZC/ZN6 friendly, obviously this has been covered, and I wasn’t too happy once I started reading up on here. I wanted Amsoil gear oil, however it wasn’t available to me at the time, so I ended up buying a gallon of redline GL-4, my gearbox feels great now, there were some shavings on the magnet, however after 10k my oil looked brand new still.

Installed my HKS resonated front pipe, ultra racing fender braces, Cusco rear subframe bar, and the beatrush diff brace, billion cap, TRD door things, Cusco clutch line, are next to put on.

Kojiap1 06-30-2018 12:44 PM

Update: added Tomei 60S, paired with HKS front pipe, Cusco rear lower bar on, Beatrush diff brace on, and the fender braces are on.

Within the next month I’m trying to upgrade brakes, and adding an oil cooler.

Have my winmax w3 pads already.
Bleed the oem fluid with ATE TYP200
SS brake lines
Going to let the pads destroy my rotors before upgrading to slotted.

Finally getting a custom tune today as well, from Doug @DBW Motorsports in Peachtree city, GA. I was originally going to use Delicious Tuning, but I geardbgood things about the local tuner here.

http://rs3.pbsrc.com/albums/y56/koji...h=480&fit=clip
Baseline with 93 octane, Tomei 60s, and hks front pipe.

Kojiap1 07-02-2018 01:54 AM

Here’s the final result from dbw motorsports, with hks front pipe and Tomei 60s. Pretty impressed, however haven’t been so impressed with their support after my tune was done, been waiting to get a digital copy of my rom file, for when I need to switch back to carb tune, along with my check engine coming on from P0461, P0462, and P0071 so still waiting on the update from him.

http://rs3.pbsrc.com/albums/y56/koji...h=480&fit=clip

284whp & 244wtq, it doesn’t feel it though on the butt dyno though.

Kojiap1 07-03-2018 12:56 PM

Well so far DBW Motorsports have still been lagging on giving me the revision tune, to supposedly make my codes go away, andv launch control. Customer service is proving to be unsatisfactory, it takes 5 minutes to email something.

Kojiap1 07-18-2018 06:51 PM

Stay away from DBW motorsports. I had emailed various companies, with a log file I made, car was being restricted it’s power due to tip in knock. Doug at DBW wanted time to schedule another appointment to fix his mistakes, fuel sending units malfunctioned, cruise control doesn’t work, and my skid control light is always on, his “update” was turning them off, and he couldn’t even activate launch control, half-ass tuner.

I’d rather just get a new tune all together from a competent shop. Stay away from DBW unless you like no power from 2-4K and check engine lights for days. Doug is a fuckin g cheat and a crook.

Kojiap1 07-18-2018 06:55 PM

Finally had my wheels and tires mounted, 255/35 and 265/35 18x9.5 rpf1. Raising the front up slightly and I’ll be researching for alignment settings. Next things to be done are oil cooler and a tune from delicious tuning.

him.

I just finished gathering parts for my oil cooler, it consists of a Derale 10000 series 16 row, Aeroquip aqp lines, Aeroquip and mr. gasket fittings, worm gear style clamp finishers. Sandwich plate is a Mocal thermostatic plate for 92 Celsius, I’ll be stacking it on top of my beatrush sandwich plate with hopefully no issues. I’ll have pics loaded when my lines arrive.

Lonewolf 07-27-2018 12:28 PM

Has delicious fixed the previous shop's tune yet?

Kojiap1 08-15-2018 10:18 PM

Just about finished up my custom oil cooler, it’s. 190F Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate, sitting on top of my beatrush sensor plate, I may opt for a spacer, I have 2 45* bends and 2 straight, with a 16 row derale oil cooler, aeroquip line and fittings. Noticed about 8-10 psi pressure loss.

Next will be my Megan racing H brace, couldn’t beat the price, 80 bucks shipped brand new..

Awaiting for my Ultra Racing rear side bars to come in, and my P2M carpet. My chassis bracing is basically complete, next to adding a brake master cylinder brace, I’m trying to make one myself though. Will update pics soon

More pics to come, I cut the crash bar, and styrofoam, and the oil cooler sits nicely inside by some brackets I made, with rubber grommets I slipped the bolts inside with to help absorb shock.

I ordered a Perrin spacer that’s on the way, and the extended feed bolt. So it will be stacked to hell.

Oil filter
Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate
Beatrush npt sandwich plate
Perrin spacer

Kojiap1 09-12-2018 12:27 AM

I have my Megan H brace and ultra racing rear side bars installed now, failed to take a picture.

Changing laile/beatrush sandwich plate to an fittings with temp sensors to get rid of my stack.

Currently I’m at
Subaru oil filter
Mocal sp1ft
Beatrush sandwich plate
Perrin spacer

Oil pressure seems okay still with the spacer added on, about 90psi 185-200F

Will update soon.

Kojiap1 10-11-2018 01:12 PM
