What an awesome trip to run in the car!
I have some brilliant trips planned for mine when she rocks up

Nice. I planned on doing the same thing but in reverse if I had found a MT GTS on the east coast. Enjoy the trip. :)

I have ridden around Mt Panorama (not raced) and thought it would be the scariest place to race. I mean there is no room for error across the top.

Enjoy the the drive.

Good work mate enjoy, I work in Orange and Live in Bathurst. Ordered my 86 from Bathurst will have mine around December. Have fun mate.

Just be careful as they sit near the chase and on the crest of conrod.
Thankfully the track is quite wide so racing around it especially in an 86 would actually not be bad.
I am a member of the Bathurst light car club and regularly compete in hillclimbs and super-sprints around Mt Pan. It is daunting the first few times at full pace though.

Cheers
Camo

I would be very wary of traveling after dark. In some places you can count the dead Roos on the side of the road. So many that you can pass one and see the next dead one ahead.

That will be a pretty memorable experience for picking up your new car! What a great excuse to do some interstate travel, with the added benefit of jumping the crazy queue to pick up a car.

I'll bet those first 1000km will be a real pain though ;).

hey guys, I have decided i am going to write a whole article on the drive and send it throught to a few mags and see if they want it.

It has been a great drive, I am currently in the passenger seat 600km from home.

The car is amazing. more than enough power to pass on the highway, noticeable power drop down low, but with the boot in it it revs up quick.

Almost got taken out up a bathurst too! *great story - scary moment*

no regrets on the auto, i have always driven manuals and this thing changes quicker than i can - also on downshifts over about 3000 rpm it will blip the throttle before the downshift!

onto your comment bacon, the mechanics told me to drive it as i normally would as the run in thing is a little over stated i did accidently rev it too hard as i put it in manual, then remembered to check all the mirros before leaving the dealer and forgot i had it in M! .. a few times over 4000RPM in the initial 1000km for passing, but all good.

will post the story and pics sometime tomorrow with the video of my almost crash at mount panorama!

1816KM on the ODO!

im studying in orange at the moment and wish i had mine delivered already :( i wouldve joined you at panorama.

fuddbutter 07-27-2012 11:46 PM

Are you carrying much weight in it (luggage), and was there much of a performance difference?

There is a little bit of a noticable performance difference with a passenegr, but not much with luggage. Still very good with the carry on bags in the back and my passenger ... can't wait to take it round a mountain range!

You inspire me Karlos13, now that's dedication!
