Finally upgraded from stock tires to 225 MPS4S!

Loving my decision so far, but I want to get some spacers for a little more umph. Does anyone have a picture of 225 tires with spacers? Really appreciated, thank you!

225 Wheels? 225 is a tire size.

churchx 03-05-2018 05:08 PM

If it's flush looks you are after, then how much they are spaced outside might be changed by both offset and spacers. Specify what offset/size wheels you have and how much further spaced out you want to find out looks of.

17x7 +48 OEM wheels use a 20-25mm front spacer and a 25-30mm rear spacer to be flush. The term "Flush" is subjective. What some consider flush, others would say pokes a little. You will have to make up your mind what "flush" is.

Please don't put 20-30mm spacers on your car. That's a whole lot of weight just to look "flush"

bigger wheels to accomplish the same "look" would add the same amount of weight...

for aesthetic purposes i don't see why not

At least you can put more rubber on it. But yeah, for aesthetics go ahead.

PuslarBrrrz 03-09-2018 01:15 PM

A spacer will add under 2lb to each corner and its very close to the axis of spin so you won't notice anything..

churchx 03-09-2018 02:31 PM

Actually one may notice change like heavier steering due changed scrub radius. Or if this had been FWD car, increased torque steer.

r3myx626 03-11-2018 04:13 PM

If you look up the specs the 225/45R17 PS4S are pretty heavy compared to stock. Just in tire alone he's adding a bit over 6lbs in weight to each corner. Add in spacers and you're really going in the other direction as far as adding performance....if you care for those sort of small improvements.

JD001 03-11-2018 04:32 PM

Are you?

1. Planning to race your car?
2. Planning on setting a land speed record?
3. Planning to set new race track lap times?

If the answers are 'no' to the above then I think making your car look good in your eyes does no harm. Adding a small amount of weight will not dent your car's performance. Tyres, wheels, brake disk weights will vary as there are tolerances that need to be remembered.

My first mod was dropping the car and adding 20mm spacers up front, 25mm at the back. I love the look..

Are you on stock wheels and stock height or lowered?

Stock height 15mm/20mm or 20/25 spacer F/R would be reasonable, 20/25 might have some poke.

Keep in mind 15mm you will have to extend your lugs, the 20mm spacer can get away with an adapter style bolt on.

Yes, and this is considered "unsprung weight" which has a huge effect on handling and suspension & braking performance as well.

IDK what you are talking about. Tirerack.com has the 225/45/17 PS4S listed at 21lbs; a one pound increase over the stock primacys.

Straight From Michelin's website:

Wonder if that's a misprint considering that the 225/50 is almost 3 lbs lighter than the 225/45.

nico_rsx 03-25-2018 02:01 AM

This michelin table make no sense it's a mistake for sure.
The 225/45/17 can't be heavier thant the 225/50/17. It got the same width, but less height.
This can be confirmed by looking at the same size in 18", in that case the 225/50/18 is heavier than th 225/45/18

Called Michelin re: 225/45ZR17 Pilot Sport 4S at 26.85 pounds, they say "It's 26.85", then online chat with Michelin: "It's 26.85". Call Tire Rack, Felix, extension 4497, goes the extra mile and has one weighed... correct weight is 21.0. I purchased and confirm:

Next to an original 215/45R17 Primacy HP:

I just replaced my new Primacy 215 HP's with the 225 PS4S, and the weight increase was only 2 lbs per tire. The weight on the Michelin spec sheet was wrong. If you compare that weight with other tires, you'll see what I mean.

2lbs is way better than 6 and about on par with other options. Thanks for the feedback.
