Sorry for the tired face y'all! I Just arrived last night from my vacation and got no sleep! Time zone is so different from my country to here! But anyway, August 1 was marked and I was so excited to meet this lovely toy.
Came into the dealer at around 10AM and went straight to test drive it w/ my Family ( Did not get much sleep also from our flight last night) First one I noticed? CLUTCH is so SOFT compared to the cars I've driven before! No feedback! But I'll get used to it in breaking this in!:burnrubber::happy0180:

My dealer is so awesome! My reps were really PRO Customers/Clients/Buyer! Know why?

Haa! It was parked outside w/ these notes all over the car! I'm the only one I guess, who pre ordered and instructed them not wash and detail my car or remove the plastics. They were laughing and all that but told them I wanna feel the luxury of cleaning 1st my own car! haaa! that's why while in my vacation and not doing anything I ordered stuffs that I needed for the 1st prep and detailing! My uncle was asking me when I got here what are all those boxes are? and when we came in the dealer he had the clue cuz he was smiling and all that. I got all these boxes stacked up in my room!

Got thses magazine from my vacation.. Evrytime me and my girl go to a mall she will be "Ei, check if they have magazines that features the 86!! haaa!
She loves the color!! Made my choice for white cuz of her! She is part of this adventure w/ the car! Love mah girl! Mah boss!

More updates and small reviews to follow... Keep it burnin!

*Oh yeah! Got me nervous before bringin it home was that before the dealer fills the gas tank cuz I'm the driving it around, while waiting was that the car is in neutral/idle and felt the car kinda wanted to stall and suddenly Check Engine light flashes about 4 or 5 times. My rep saw it too and then service manager took over and checked. He said "it's a new car and with a new engine, give the computer time." They made me feel it'll be okay and it is under warranty anyway. Checked all the noted problems others posted, took a vid for the sound of engine, small things and what gas. we'll see how it goes during the break in period.

Imma have fun!!:party0030::happyanim:

Nice job with the detail! I get lazy sometimes with the tape and get wax on the plastic trim, but looks like you did a good job with that.

I know! Took a whole lot of time for me to get done but all good. I'll practice using the machine so it will save me time and will work all over it better, mostly the stains and light scratches.

Whiteout FRS of Vallejo! :) (Not intend to to make it as i own Vallejo.. Put "one of the" if needed)

tintumz22 08-11-2012 03:47 PM

Update!

Not having fun cuz of having CEL problems same as one in the TSB threads but will be in for repair issued by Toyota Corporate regarding the problem on Monday and hopefully get it by the end of Tuesday. huhh.. anxiety...:(:brokenheart:

But guess what? while having these problems with the car my local dealer Sales Manager contacted me yesterday, that a rep from Flowmaster is looking for an FRS to have a photo-shoot. He referred me! My baby will be having an appointment after the repairs. Hopefully, all goes well!:)

tintumz22 08-15-2012 02:26 AM

Update!!
August 13,2012

Car checked in the dealer today. Had them also know about a clunking noise when releasing the clutch when in neutral, when in reverse and 1st gear.( More audible on those circumstances) Checked the parts and saw the same as the pictures shown earlier on this thread. New ECU confirmed last 3 digit #811. Overheard from the parts rep that it is really in testing mode for all these parts came in for the repair. (The feeling I'm having with the variety of VIN #s having this problem is a Recall SOON) But we'll standby for that! I'll post whenever I get an update from my Service Rep. Hopefully the fix will do it cuz I'm really eager to drive my car! It's really a sad feeling just looking at the car inside the garage!

For now.. More forum reading and exploring while waiting until tomorrow or Wednesday until they give me a call. Also, they gave a a Camry loaner! Told them that I was expecting a corolla but yeah they gave me a special treat I guess.

tintumz22 08-15-2012 02:27 AM

Update!!

August 14,2012

So, this is the second day of my car being in the dealer for the CEL issue fix. I dropped by there to check what's going on, see what they are doing, ask some questions and wanna see the car, specifically the engine being disassembled. (Man it is heartbreaking to see a new engine being opened!) but all good as long as they take care of it (Seeing them really careful on this car man to Toyota!!!) As I said earlier, Toyota corporate is strictly communicating with the local techs on what to do and how to do it. So it came down they replaced 3 parts on mine the ECU, actuator, and the sensor. (Thanks also to the other tech that gave me some idea on what the replaced part is doing and how it is related to the issue. Man! i want to learn these stuff!! hopefully.??)

All that said, the best estimate they can give me, when the car is ready to go is by late afternoon tomorrow or earliest of Thursday. Cuz I still want the clutch clunk sound when you release be addressed cuz it is something for me to be concerned. (In my experience of other manual cars, they don't make that sound)

So yeah, I'll update as soon as I get her then test drive it and see if the issue comes back.(Praying it would never come back!! Let me enjoy the car!!) Ask techs questions and all that.

tnt 08-15-2012 05:26 PM

well if u have to bring it back in 3x for the same reason they have to give u a brand new replacement

tintumz22 08-16-2012 02:12 AM

Update!!!
August 15,2012

Got the car back!! :party0030: :burnrubber::happyanim:

First time I sat down into the car is like I'm excited but at the same time nervous that something might happen but Yeah i took the confidence from the Tech and my service rep! (Shout out to Miguel Toyota Technician who took care of my baby -- I saw him work and he was really careful w/ every parts; politely answered all my questions and taught me some stuff about this new motor and My service rep Ryan who kept me updated about the situation!!) from Toyota Vallejo.

Drove it 30+ miles from dealer, so far so good! It is running smoother! Even in Idle, i didn't feel the horrible shaking that it looks like it's gonna stall. More stable idle! The rpm dip when you come to a stop, nothing happened so far. I did not get enough time drive for more miles cuz lots of household chores to do. So, I'll drive it more tomorrow morning to check it starting from a cold start and check the stuff that I'm noticing before it got fix. I'll update again for sure.

*The clunking sound that I mentioned that you can hear when you release the clutch-- Tech said it sounds like it is coming from the clutch pressure plate. So yeah, nothing to worry about cuz the car have a 5 year drive-terrain warranty, if anything goes wrong. (Another thumbs up for my tech!!)

***So, all guys that have this issue.. Symptoms: CEL ON, Slip warning light ON, rpm dip coming from a stop and unstable idle PLEASE BE ADVICE BRING IT INTO YOUR LOCAL DEALER and let them know. Toyota will take care of you! --also for Subaru BRZ owners if you have these symptoms.(They took the replaced parts for testing to find out what is the cause)

So, we went at a local area here in my hometown and did the photoshoot! i'll post some of his shots as soon as he send me some copies. But manage to take some photos. tintumz22 10-05-2012 11:37 AM

What's up folks? Haven't update my journal for a awhile. Well, my car is running pretty good since the CEL had been fix. I have been busy at school so funds are kinda tight to do Big MODS but did some small things.

Latest MOD:
-Toyota Badges and GT86 Badge
-Windows Tint (Scheduled on the October 23rd @ Rocky Mountain Tint) I'll get this done first as a big MOD cuz it gets really hot inside the car during hot weather here.
-86/Pistons License Plates Farmes from 86_ZN6
-Got some 86 Keychain from 86_ZN6

Future MOD:
-Takeda Intake
-Still looking for the right exhaust for me..
-Coilovers (leaning to rs-r like Moto-P) but probably springs for the meantime (Eibach Pro-kit)

That's all for now folks! Keep :burnrubber:

Update!

A lot of things happened ever since the last update I made in my journal. NorCal Meet (HELLA FUN!!!!) and having dun in this rain. 5k miles and running and my next oil change is coming up. Still undecided whether use my free oil change or change my own. I already ordered my fumuto valve for easy drain for next coming oil changes. My dilemma now is my mods?! the Bummer! want to make exterior wise mods but at the same time learning this machine's capability is also what I want so I was planning to do some track and invest for performance driving school. I can't fund both at the same time so I have to make a choice of exterior or performance wise? thinking of doing track and drifting so learning the car's stock capabilities is a must at the same time have to invest on that. tires, brake system and then upgrade whatever needed to perform better. Note* I'm a beginner to these things so i'll be taking notes here in the forum. So whoever had experience can chime in for help. Thank you!

Also, school and holidays is filling up my schedule but I still open up this forum for news! have a good one guys!

A performance driving school would be one of the best things you could do as a driver. I'd definitely recommend it because it will make you able to use your car's full potential, no matter stock or time attack crazy. Also, what is your opinion of the takeda intake?

yeah that's why I'm trying to go that route. mix emotions! Takeda intake? Growling mannnn! haha. made the right choice too because you can find one or two thorough review of the intake that it is one of the intake that gave a lot of hp gain w/ a tune. It gave the car the needed growl and minus the sound tube.

Kilzod 12-23-2012 02:25 AM

Looks good! Enjoy the car, and have fun!

Also, take that performance driving course, it will definitely be beneficial for a lot of reasons.

Update!

What's up guys!? Have not updated lately. School work is wow right now. But yeah while schedule keeps on getting hectic I still manage to buy time to prepare the car for an HPDE in Sonoma Raceway,Ca. Planning to test out the car, learn how to drive the right way and in a controlled environment. March is the target. This is the most needed MOD I need for this car.

So far. Did some oil change and fluids too. Motul 0w20 for the engine, Pentosin MTF2 for the tranny, and some motul gear for the diffy. I'll be changing brake fluids to make it track able and not worry about boiling it out and have problems.

I'll be running stocks tires and wheels for the event (it is my first HPDE). But planning to get another set of wheels dedicated for track and stuff or keep these. I don't know. But hopefully, I can get some rubber on the new shoes already! Just happy I got these set of wheels. No second thoughts! ;) We'll get to that. I'll prepare for the event first. Then, I will test out some race brake pads on the event. Review and info soon.

I'm loving the exhaust I got. Importantly, it's in house built and really got sold on how it is different. The sound is just aggressive but with a soft touch. "ZERO" Drone and just really makes it a gentle man exhaust. Not obnoxiously loud but can grab an attention. Even the customer service from WORKS is just TOP NOTCH! The owner is just awesome and knows what customer service means. Info help and support comes with the package.

The bushings just made it night and day difference. The positive shift kit and rear shifter bushing just made the car into a real sports car. Solid feel and immediate feedback from the tranny. No more uneasy and sloppy shift in any type of driving. Gave a little more NVH but tolerable. Exhaust, engine and music can cover those up. You get to know and feel everything happening to the car.

I'll update again as the event gets near. Thanks. Keep :burnrubber: Be safe.

Installed:
Grimmspeed Plate Relocator
Eiback Pro-kit Springs
Whiteline Positive Shift kit
Perrin Rear shifter bushing
Whiteline Rear Crossmember Bushings
Works Catback Exhaust
FA20Club Stage2 Tune
AFE Takeda Intake

On hand(soon to be installed):
Advan RSII Wheels Semi Gloss Black 18x8.5 & 18x9.5
Goodridge Speedbleeder (to make it easier 1 man job)

Future:
Works Blue Race Brake pads(will have review on it)

Very good instructor! Learned a lot and I did meet my expectations and goals! I spun out!! traction control all off in one of my run to test where I am and what are things I need to learn in controlling the behavior of the car in such a speed.:party0030:

I will be posting pictures and vid!
