JDM Center Armrest

I saw this armrest on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...0cac6a&vxp=mtr

I wonder if that's what's coming to North America this fall.

anteater86 07-23-2012 01:46 PM

I WANT

paulieblaze 07-23-2012 01:47 PM

Looks sweet, I just dont know about the leather look

ebhopal 07-23-2012 01:49 PM

LivingLegend 07-23-2012 01:50 PM

Yeah the leather would not match the alcantara thats in the car. It looks good tho!

excited86 07-23-2012 01:58 PM

where are you gonna put your bottle water?

Nepenthe 07-23-2012 02:00 PM

Looks good. I like that it is configurable by slope. Does it open? Does it slide? Does it add depth to the storage (4 and 7/8ths inches is all I ask (that's what she said))?

Cool. I'm down with that. Looks like another thing to add to the list!

Roadies?

Jlturner 07-23-2012 02:27 PM

It looks good, but there is no way I could justify paying $200 for an armrest, especially one that eliminates the cup holders. For $200 I will keep on resting my arm on the e-brake!

quatrecentsreves 07-23-2012 02:41 PM

Sorry, noob question...how would you install the arm rest? Or does it just stick on top of the cup holder?

Nepenthe 07-23-2012 02:49 PM

My car has a No Drinks Allowed rule so the "cup holder" was gone from day one. $200 is actually really good. I was thinking $350.

The clear marker lights are $130 and that's a very minor cosmetic piece of clear plastic.

The Mini Cooper armrest is $250.

Still want to see if there's a matching material version for the US and see whether it opens or not.

Norkoastal 07-23-2012 03:14 PM

Waiting for the "textured" plastic clone version of this to be released. Leather and the cloth seats will not jive well..

86_ZN6 07-23-2012 03:19 PM

This is not OEM toyota part

It was made by a delaer in japan.

paulieblaze 07-23-2012 03:22 PM

Roadies=Beers on the ride home from work:)

deucethemoose 07-23-2012 03:23 PM

I'm interested to see how it attaches.

Technically it does match the material in the US version, at least it matches the BRZ Premium's leather trim that's on the upper part of the doors and armrest on the doors.

As for that armrest design though, epic fail, losing both cup holders and the phone holder slot is a shitty design choice. Guess i'll just stick with my original idea of making my own arm rest, which I was planning on making just one for the drivers side that would cover the phone holder slot but leave both cup holders open.

Sigh-on-Rice 07-23-2012 03:28 PM

https://www.aichi-toyota.jp/shop/pro...product_id=860

It's 9800 Yen in Japan. About 125 USD. I guess $200 is a fair price.

Sall 07-23-2012 03:51 PM

kinda expensive just for an armrest.but i guess is a fair price considering that is a brand new high demand car and that makes all very expensive.check it out you can even get the 86 jdm wheel cool but again expensive :( http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...6aacf6&vxp=mtr

Exhaust 07-23-2012 03:58 PM

Id buy it for the price, if you want quality you gotta pay for it. However will it match our interior? Considering the GT86 interior is much more flashy then ours.

I think it would take the place of the cup holder in the center console.

i.e. remove cup holder and install into the notches there.

Just my guess though.

Hanzo 07-23-2012 04:12 PM

Doesn't look OEM quality.

You're correct. The JP site says the installation is simple put it on top of the console.
Google translate = "Installed, just put it on the console".

Yeah, I don't see it on the Toyota 86 JP site. You're right, it's probably not OEM if it's not on the official accessories site.

If it fits into the grooves that the cup holders do, then you would lose storage under it as well... It would be much more practical to have it screw on to the back of the console and lift up with a hinge, that way you get hidden storage and don't lose the space below it. Maybe I am visualizing it wrong though... :iono:

Synack 07-23-2012 05:07 PM

I just wish we could move the cupholder thing forward more without disabling usage of the AUX power port.

Sall 07-23-2012 05:15 PM

even if its not an oem item i bet when toyota releases one it will look exactly the same..(except for color combination maybe)

calis5nest 07-23-2012 06:05 PM

i want it! XD

Agreed. I would spend money for what you described (or one that was hinged on the side), probably not for something that just eliminated the storage completely.

Exactly. It's way too cheap to be an authentic part. "OEM" in eBay terminology means fake.

You can't even get it for $200, shipping adds another $68. It's nice, but not that nice. I'm waiting to see what Scion offers us in the next month or so. I bet it's similar and I'll probably get that, but like everyone else I hate to loose the majority of what little storage space we have if it just drops into the console opening.

motofan 07-24-2012 12:58 AM

Thinking about putting 200x $1 bill there~

cgrey 07-24-2012 01:00 AM

No good. Next.
