Leather wrapped interior pieces (including dash trim) pics

Just got these back today:

The trim piece was bonded to create a single piece. It was also sanded down so that when wrapped it retains the original dimensions.

Speaker grill had to be cut out and then bonded / siliconed back in place.

The cluster surround was also covered, but I don't have a pic.

Total ran me around $1k at Mark Luhr's custom upholstery in Santee, California for the labor and a full hide.

Could save a bit with a cheaper material. He's also a bit more expensive than some other places, but his work is quite good.

Installed pics

Looks a lot better in person

Love it. It adds so much more of a finished and higher quality look to the interior.

boredom.is.me 07-24-2012 03:23 AM

Nice. Now you just need an e-brake boot.

Guff 07-24-2012 03:43 AM

Wow, that's nice!

Pricey, too. How's the price of Alcantara compared to leather?

BRAWL 07-24-2012 04:12 AM

Looks great. Not sure on cost, but you get what you paid for with this sort of work. Kudos!

colHolm 07-24-2012 08:18 AM

I like it! Expensive though...

RidetheTran 07-24-2012 09:18 AM

Not really sure about the dash, maybe I need to see better pics. Really digging the speaker trim though.

Alcantara is typically a touch more expensive...

It is pricey but understandably so. I had 7 pieces covered, they had to figure out how to do a lot of the stuff, there was cutting and bonding involved, and they ordered a full cow hide.

CBR600RR 07-24-2012 11:05 AM

Very nice!!! The red stitching looks like it matches well.

ImAwesome 07-24-2012 12:20 PM

I don't think the price is that bad..looks great

industrial 07-24-2012 05:35 PM

Love how the center console piece came out. Nice man!

Bonburner 07-24-2012 05:47 PM

Oh damn, I really like how it turned out ..
Might have to copy ..

TSLRich 07-24-2012 06:07 PM

This looks fantastic... money well spent.

TouchMyHonda 07-24-2012 06:53 PM

Looks fantastic. A g not is expensive, but I am sure the super long and crappy labor with material cost is fair for sure.

I've dabbled with upholstery in the past, and it's definitely something I'd just rather spend the money on these days. It's not worth the headache and risk of fucking up to do it myself.

Xenocide117 07-24-2012 07:37 PM

Oh wow that looks great!

TouchMyHonda 07-24-2012 08:00 PM

I though of having all the sliver trim found in the car painted gloss black. Such as the silver piece on the steering wheel, the vents, the center console pieces by the climate controls, and the silver piece around the shiftier.

It would look good and be much cheaper. However your way is much more baller.

sho220 07-24-2012 10:23 PM

You spend a grand on interior and then show it off using the 5 dollar Snoopy camera you bought back in '73?

j/k...looks good from what I can tell. :)

whataboutbob 07-24-2012 10:27 PM

Looks really nice.

It's actually a Sony DSC-TX7...I just can't take pictures for shit :P
I think the ISO was too high and my hands shake like I have MS. I'll have my better half take a few...she's much better at it.

edit: Probably the best I'm able to do.

That looks absolutely fantastic! Well worth the money, especially considering it would probably cost at least half that much just to get the speaker panels and knee pads from Japan. I will definitely be doing the same, with the exception of the dash section. Haven't figured out what I want to do with that yet.

FRS GT 09-25-2012 05:40 PM

Nice work! Definitely raises the caliber of the interior!

Mrqb22 09-26-2012 04:22 AM

Looks great. I ordered leather heated seats. I might have to copy to match the leather seats. looks awesome money well spent.

Anyone in the Cleveland area that could do work like this. I ve been in Florida for the last 11 years just moved back so as far as where to take my vehicles for modding and interior work like this I need some direction on reputable shops.

Again looks very high end great job

nashsnazzy 11-04-2012 07:23 PM

Where did you get the leather heated seats? I dig this idea for the dash. It would be nice if someone would let us send them our parts and have them covered and returned.

stalon320 11-11-2012 10:54 AM

I really like the look of this.. now if someone would make a flat bottomed steering wheel.. and add some Aluminum bits for the console pieces and the steering wheel.. PERFECT! :)

cslntuee 11-18-2012 10:11 AM

It looks great!
How did you install? Using double side tape?
Thanks.
