speeding tickets
got my first one in the FR-S.. only took 3 weeks..
mind you I'm actually very carefuly when I drive, I just got raped by this spot... going to fight it and see what happens.. I was leaving DT Toronto.. Gardiner was closed so I went up to Adelaide to go east to get onto the DVP.. Adelaide comes to an end and there is like a double ramp there to get into DVP.. I saw the 50 signs and was doing 50, then there was a dude on a bicycle that tripped the shit out of me and stopped 1/4 way onto the on ramp and backed up as I slowed down to wave me through, ( and I thought this was the DVP already, wasn't really paying attention to be honest, since I was confused as to why he was on the highway on a bicycle).. so I sped up to let the poor fellow through and get off the highway with his bicycle.. thinking this was the highway and not seeing the last 50 sign that was right beside me apparently as I sped up I drove right into a pig with a tripod on the hill.. anyways.. didn't let me off with anything and gave me 84 in 50 zone.. and comboed it up with no insurance card, which I have insurance just didn't have the slip, but that is waived when I show I have insurance prior to that date.. anyways.. that spot is retarded, my situation was retarded, I'm going to try my best to postpone this court date and have this ticket thrown out with some loop holes, or try to explain my situation to the judge and hope they let me off.. anyone else have any yet? |
lol, that was last night.
Those ramps ANYWHERE near their are cop infested, if you are going from gardiner->richmond/lakeshore, to whatever. There's always a cop there, especially during the day, if it's 50, do 50 :). What time was this? That's unfortunte D: |
keep postponing your court date, best would be 3 yrs later. it would be your best move. and hopefully the cop does not show up.
|
84 in a 50 zone is not great to say the least. It's worth it to hire a professional to defend you. If it's your first time. It'll likely get dropped. You could get the charge dropped by representing yourself but I wouldn't take the chance for something like that. Take it to court. Don't take that first appearance offer they give you. Trust me.
I'm at EXPERT at speeding tickets unfortunately. |

They get paid over-time when they show up. What I hear, Cops show more often now. |
yea it was yesterday during the day.. it was around 11:00 am.. guy was being a complete douche.. I've honestly never gone that way before and assumed it was the highway already.. I'm debating getting a professional, but realistically I have a feeling the only way to get out of this is going to be to have them postpone the court date (not me) for 12 months and get by on 11b of the charter..
anyone know what the requirement is to request a translator? I speak English well, but I wasn't born in Canada and I can pretend not to speak it well.. apparently translators almost never show up, which would have them postpone the court date thanks for the support.. really put a dark spot on a great weeknd |

Did you see like a factory there on the left right before the 50km/hr ramp? If my car wasn't broken into it would have been parked right there .. cuz thats where I work Sorry unrelated haha |

Even though your option doesn't seem ethical, but it may just work LOL! |

Don't waste your money on a so called "professional". You can do better representing yourself. They won't drop the ticket for you - they will only plead it down. Good luck getting it dropped - not likely unless you had another ticket you could use to make a deal with the prosecutor. I would say try and wait it out like everyone else says and then have it dropped. Or go and bargain with the Crown. Remember: ANY conviction will raise your insurance rate - points or no points. |
Make sure to read this thread over at redflagdeals, those guys have got it down to a science on how to use the system to your advantage.

thanks!
actually I think I got very lucky.. the fine is only $137.50 (+$20) and its a 34km/h over... which according to HTA sec 128 (which is what I got the ticket for) it states that the fine should be in the $250 range.. apparently this is a fatal error.. thanks again for the link |

Get a radar detector. Bel STI Magnum or STI-R. Undetectable to all current pig RDDs. Haven't gotten a speeding ticket since started running my STI Driver in 2009, plus it's fun finding the speed traps esp if you have a dash cam. Used to get lots before, huge hassle requesting disclosure, freedom of information act, filing Charter applications (S7, S8b etc) since pigs always show in court now (get overtime pay for sitting there for the day).

Oh wait, you said undetectable... :bonk: |

That's why I'll normally only drive up to 15km/h over - that ticket is just a fine with no points, very minor, and the cops don't appear to be that interested in people driving that fast (slow?)...since I have started using that policy I have never been ticketed (for speeding!) |
^ this during the day (difficult to speed more than 15 over in traffic anyway). Late at night on 400 series and DVP, I keep it to under 49 kph over speed limit. Radar detector gives me a free pass since pigs here almost never run LIDAR at night. I keep it to 49 kph over or less bc in Ontario 50 over is automatic 30 day suspension and car impounded (so much about innocent until proven guilty).

They are legal in Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC.
