First Look: OEM Arm Rest

here's how the OEM armrest will look like

what do you guys think?

Lonewolf 07-23-2012 01:39 AM

For the FRS people it's going to require you to get the leather e-brake/boot so it matches. I wonder if it will have the 86 logo when it comes here?

Maybe USDM won't have red stitching

mechaghost 07-23-2012 02:17 AM

that would fit the brz real well

JDM ones won't fit right? Given that it's RHD.

Guff 07-23-2012 02:23 AM

86_ZN6 07-23-2012 02:26 AM

Because the fuel lid lever is opposite.

See the JDM one? fuel lid lever is on RH. It's notched specifically for it

http://mkimg.carview.co.jp/minkara/b...6174971/p1.jpg

The USDM one is notched on the LH side. Also, notice that the floor mat clips are asymmetrical. And so are the fronts of the mats. So yeah, they won't fit.

hmmmm... im kinda lost here!

in this thread, we are talking about center arm rest and not floor mats :)

Just giving you a headsup. Back to the armrest. This isn't the OEM armrest. It's one that a Toyota dealer (Aichi Toyota) custom made.

Their website.

http://www.aichi-toyota.jp/shop/prod...product_id=860

I can read Japanese. The armrest does not go up, nor is there storage within it. It looks like it just a box that sits in the spot that the cupholder does. You can put it fore or aft, just like the cupholder.

yeah i would like to see something with storage.

Just use Google Translate. If something isn't clear, I'm more than willing to help translate. And yeah, you should try to find some EDM LHD GT86 mats.

Looks good, maybe a bit big. A lot better than what I thought it would be, was expecting it to be similar to that of the yaris.

russv 07-23-2012 11:20 AM

I was thinking I would want the arm rest but mine came with the optional drink holder and phone holder, and I don't seem to miss having an armrest.

GTETech 07-23-2012 11:59 AM

What about those 2tone seats. Anybody knew were can I get those and how much they costs? I'm assuming it will fit on BRZ right?

Looks great with the stitched logo. Wonder how long will that last?

Cup holders seem to get deleted with this attached. Hmmm... not sure if I'd want that. I'm too used to placing stuff in the mid console's cup holders. Choices choices.

Will purchase if reviews say it's durable and it's under 100 bucks.

RRnold 07-23-2012 01:48 PM

Not bad but I wish it didn't have the red stitching.

It's kind of funny how a center is now being offered. I remember the Honda mod for the Integra was to swap it out with the JDM version that didn't have a console. :bellyroll:

Dadhawk 07-23-2012 03:11 PM

Just "meh" for me. It looks too much added on, which of course it is.

I thought at first I would need it as an armrest, but I've found I really don't. I'll hold judgement for the real OEM version (as noted above this is NOT the OEM one) but if it doesn't add storage and doesn't retain use of a cup holder, I won't be getting one.

quik1987 07-23-2012 03:24 PM

Not sure if it flips open

MrH 07-23-2012 03:51 PM

Yikes, I was hoping for something much smaller. Good to hear this isn't the OEM version.

civicdrivr 07-23-2012 10:09 PM

Not feeling it. I actually dont mind not having an arm rest though. We'll see what Toyota brings to the table though.

Dr.Science 07-24-2012 12:44 AM

I've been waiting for an armrest, but this is NOT it.

Juanito08 07-24-2012 11:20 AM

I was hoping for something like this

That is exactly what I would want, but it needs to slide back for access to the cup holders or fold all the way back and become cup holders for the back seats maybe (for looks not because it would be practical).

My drive home from school is far to long to lose a cup holder.

If I get an armrest, I want one that is hinged and has a storage compartment underneath.

Xenocide117 07-24-2012 08:40 PM

Work is 25 minutes. School is 7 hours.

Blast! I still need my Thirst Buster though.

Innova 07-24-2012 08:51 PM

I use the ebrake as my armrest.

Ray@Carsmo 07-27-2012 01:55 PM

We at Carsmo are currently developing a simple armrest for the FR-S / BRZ. A prototype should be created in a week or two.

There are many different types of armrests, some are simple, others are more fancy and have added functionality. We will probably keep it simple so it can be a simple armrest at a price point that wouldn't dent anyone's wallet.
