Sunday 'Top Trumps'

Sunday ‘Top Trumps’

This game is about car spotting on a Sunday morning between the hours of 07.00 to 12.00. The rules are:

1. The cars have to be interesting (old or new) to your average petrol head residing on this forum.

2. You can’t include your own car(s).

3. Can’t count the same car twice if seen on the same day.

4. The car has to be spotted on the road or parking lot, no spotting at museums or car shows allowed.

5. The game is only played on a Sunday (therefore seeing something interesting on any day of the week other than Sunday is not counted).

6. Game is based on trust, photos will be nice but sometimes difficult to take so posts without photos will be okay.

7. No prizes for the best spots but I’m sure recognition will be measured on the number of ‘Thanks’ awarded.

Kick start the game:

Sunday morning spots in my neighbourhood:

1 Lamborghini Aventador
1 Lamborghini Haracan
1 Aston Martin DB11
1 Porsche 991 Targa
1 Fiat 124 (normal variety).

Cole 01-14-2018 02:54 PM

This would be more fun in the summer time.

Spuds 01-14-2018 02:59 PM

Well, it's damn cold everywhere on the USA east coast, but I'll try...

Porsche boxter
Mazda Miata with a cage AND hard top.

Totally agree. I admire the guys who are driving their specials on greasy, salt ridden UK roads.

For what it's worth, last Sunday I saw an i8, a Cayman and a 911.

Nothing super special, but my god does the i8 ever look amazing in black.

The i8 is fast (in electric mode) heading down the road to obsecurity much like the old M1. I haven't seen one on the road in months.

It does look good though but I've only seen them in dual colours.

Leonardo 01-15-2018 12:19 PM

I really like the i8 too. Beautiful car. Not really a fan of the silver and light blue some come in though...

That's the one. I wish they were more popular, I can't imagine that having the black, white and blue is helping sales at all.

3 easy steps to poor taste:

1. Wrong wheels, 2. Wrong colour, and 3. Stupid carbon fibre garnish

That looks terrible compared to the all black one

I'm obviously not living in the same level of neighbourhood you live in. Most expensive vehicles in my neighborhood are SUVs, trucks and a couple of Corvettes.

tacos 01-15-2018 04:52 PM

i saw a black aventador yesterday, and a citroen 2cv

although the citroen was in its usual parking spot, not sure if that counts

oh and few different Rolls', but thats normal
prob saw a couple mclarens too, but those are everywhere, the aventador not so much

and there was a modded Genesis at the place i had tacos (meh)

Indeed, the area seems to be a hot spot for expensive or unusual cars. I have even seen a RS200... I am hoping that I see it again but this time on a Sunday!

Oh, we have the usual SUVs and pickups. Bentley SUVs too.

Scarafices will have to be made to play the game. I'm sure it'll be worth it! I'm expecting great spots from you! Don't let us down Reni, we will all be thinking of you when you start out at 07.00 this coming Sunday.

JD001 01-21-2018 07:02 AM

Its snowing today, therefore as fashion dictates in my neighbourhood, 4x4's were ruling the roads but I did see a BMW M coupe in Blue.

Am I to deduce from the above list that a 'minivan' is a Canadian Petrol head's nirvana?

No. I just live in a minivan kindda neighborhood. My FRS and the wife's Impreza stand out like sore thumbs here.

'Sore thumb' for one man is 'desire beacon' for another.

Ultramaroon 01-21-2018 02:19 PM

I'm trumped every time my neighbor across the street opens his garage. Among other collectibles, he has a magnificent mid-50s Bel Air.

JD001 01-28-2018 08:22 AM

1 Bentley Mulsanne
A gaggle (should that read 'a gurgle') of 991 Porsches
1 Ferrari California
1 Range Rover Velar

I think the super car playboys have gone away... no screaming 12cylinders..

JD001 02-04-2018 07:08 AM

This Sunday started slow..... the usual Mulsanne prowling the streets.. The BMW M coupe doing its thing and then out of the blue came a Noble GTO. Not seen the Noble before, visiting or local no idea.

A pristine Jaguar XJ from circa 2000s, Jags are funny cars. In the UK, they go from Exec barges to Chav chariots very quickly. The occasional one that has escaped the abuse much like fine wine matures into something that looks good on the street.

Tcoat 02-04-2018 11:52 AM

Can't tell what is out there today since every car is covered in a foot of snow. Ging to have to presume it consists of a bunch of minivans again.

Spuds 02-04-2018 12:13 PM

I've got a Celica seemingly abandoned on my street. I guess that's new and interesting.

It's only covered by a half inch of snow here.

shiumai 02-04-2018 08:15 PM

just saw a green mercedes AMG GT-R a couple of blocks from my street. haven't seen one before and had to look it up.

Leonardo 02-09-2018 01:51 PM

This thread is a few weeks old, and I have not seen one note worthy car, till yesterday on my way home.

saw one of these...

Living in Oakville is the best for car spotting. Sunday mornings, downtown by the lake in the summer and feast your eyes on the newest and greatest supercars.. even saw a F50 once. Will be posting here a lot when spring comes.

P1 is a great looking car, only seen one in a car showroom. Plenty of bogo McLarens on the road, difficult to tell them apart..

I know it's not Sunday today, but I saw this a few hours ago and it reminded me of all your minivan sightings here Tcoat. Enjoy.

If my wife ever saw that she would want it only in purple. If she had her way she would have the only post 1995 Impreza in the country with purple under glow.

... Your wife has purple underglow on her imprezza!?!?!

...

That's awesome! Anything else and is it worth a build thread?

Also, since Saturdays are better for spotting here than Sunday anyway, I parked near a new Lexus RCF today. Pulled in and immediately felt sorry for the person because it looked like some idiot in a truck smashed in their front quarter. On second look, noticed that there wasn't actually any damage, that's just how the car looks.

ha ha

Saw 8 newer Dodge Challengers in a convoy around Port Townsend this morning.
Another different Challenger with red LED angel eyes around all 4 headlights and the turn signals.
Was going the other way, so didn't witness the inevitable officer interaction when they see it.

"If she had her way" So far I have avoided it.

JD001 02-18-2018 07:18 AM

Yesterday started promising, the Aventador was screaming the place down, then I spot a really nice Honda DC2 in white with red buckets, a custom painted Subaru GC8 (4door) and a new Focus RS.

Therefore, I had great expectations for Sunday but it turns into a damp squib!!!
One lonely 2017 M5..

Boomerang 02-18-2018 07:28 AM

One red and black Torana

Possibly too cold for the big boys to come out to play today... saw one very good looking Sorrento Green 1.6 205 GTI.

I used to have a nice silver 1.9GTI (minus stupid sunroof) that my wife loved driving due to all round good visibility thanks to the big windows and slim A and B pillars. The funny thing is that my wife has zero interest in cars so used to be a bit lost when the car geeks used to approach her to talk about the Pug at gas stations..

krayzie 02-25-2018 03:15 PM

Now this is visibility what a view. This is what I miss from older cars.
