What is your BRZ average MPG?

My ‘17 Limited Automatic BRZ is averaging 30.7 MPG overall with 7,500 miles driven.

How is your BRZ doing with regard to fuel economy?

noodlefish 01-11-2018 09:30 AM

Eh my 2013 86 is basically a BRZ right?

According to my fuelio app over 4000 km:
Average: 7.25 L/100 km (32.4 mpg)
Best tank: 6.73 L/100 km (35 mpg)
Worst tank 7.72 L/100 (30.5 mpg)

I think I need to start having more fun in this car

Dadhawk 01-11-2018 09:38 AM

There are quite a few threads on this where dozens of persons report their mileage. A quick Title search with the word "economy" turned up several. Mine is in my signature below....

I don't track mine that closely but the gauge on the car shows my total average being 26.9mpg. I spend most of my time in stop and go. One hour to work and one hour back. Cruising at 75mph in 6th on flat ground the gauge says 35+/-1.

2013 6MT.

I drive it like I stole it any chance I get though. :) I never get good MPG in my cars other than our Suburban which I actually get better then average 15.9mpg. But that is because it's a tank so I drive it like a normal person.

Owl 01-11-2018 10:29 AM

Averaging anywhere from 28.5 to 30.2 per tank. Depends on a lot of factors. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the MPG achieved by a car this capable.

tennisfreak 01-11-2018 01:28 PM

If you're getting over 30mpg, you're not driving this car right! LOL ;)

StraightOuttaCanadaEh 01-11-2018 01:42 PM

I got 385 km from my last tank...what's that in mpg... 23-25 mpg?

spike021 01-11-2018 01:49 PM

Heh, another one of these.

I get about 25mpg with 80/20 city/highway. When I get 80/20 highway/city it's about 30 or more.

But I also keep revs higher for more smiles per gallon so

:burnrubber:

Ahh, time for our annual "what's your MPG" thread.

Annual? We were up to about two a week at one point.

I go really far when I drive one way. Not as far when I drive another.

"What is your mileage?"
"How much do you pay for insurance?"
"What was the total price you paid for the car?"

These are all questions where any and all replies are meaningless gibberish since the variables are massive and comparing is totally valueless data. They do make for some fun d1ck measuring responses though.

Look, Tcoat, we haven't yet proven there's such a thing as not having two exactly alike things.

So until we do, we must ask ourselves the same exact questions, every day, to narrow down and prove the hypothesis!!

Now I want to know your insurance premium, DAMMIT!

$750 a year. With full collision, comprehensive and replacement value coverage.

Actually that could be wrong since I think it went down about $20 this year.

LOL does that win the insurance rate duck measuring contest

My commute is about the same and yes I do have fun with the car so my numbers match your numbers :burnrubber:

Trueweltall 01-11-2018 03:20 PM

Best fuel consumption 30.67 MPG
Worst fuel consumption 24.37 MPG
~recorded over the last 14,736 miles

During a road 1,000 miles road trip I recorded 34 MPG, this was before I started using Fuelio to track it.

HSUBLU 01-11-2018 03:40 PM

Wait, "worst" of 24.37? I get that on a good tank. Maybe.

Leonardo 01-11-2018 04:03 PM

26 mpg.

Breadman 01-11-2018 05:44 PM

i get about 21mgp daily, but going cross state at 80mpg on the turn pike i get over 34mpg

Benji 01-11-2018 06:06 PM

Just over 300 miles on the ODO, on the 2nd tank and I'm creeping the average up to about 26.5mpg. Manual 2017 BRZ.

Being sensible on a long trip 30mpg looks quite doable, being sensible on a mix 27-28, anything else (city/being crazy) I would imagine closer to 22.

shiumai 01-11-2018 06:24 PM

16.1 avg mpg.

DandoX 01-11-2018 07:07 PM

A couple years ago when I commuted for hours on a freeway everyday I got up to 33mpg.

Now my commute is much shorter and I drive more aggressively and get around 24 mpg give or take.

Good I am glad someone else drive correct. If you are gettin 30+mpg on this car you are driving slower than a Prius!

26 when I bought the car
24 when I switched to E85
21 with AVO turbo on gas
??? With AVO turbo on E85, have not tuned it out yet.

Not true at all. A lot of factors come into play like tire model, tire size, tire pressure, and the road condition/smoothness just to name a few. It also just means you commute on freeways more than you drive on B roads which not everyone can control.

I went 80-85 on the freeway when I was hitting 33mpg which was much faster than most pruis drivers.

Adding tunes and all these other mods will affect your mpg, don't assume how someone drives based solely on their mpg because you don't know. Stock twins can get pretty good mpg with no mods and doesn't mean they are driving like a granny.

It was all city driving TBH. I drive 80-85 on the interstate 30 miles each way, everyday. Average 27.18 MPG right now.

I get 32.
My average speed is 75 mph.
98.5% of my driving is highway with 45 minute to 3 hour non stop runs two times a day.

No doubt you were joking but fuel consumption and speed have very little to do with each other. How you get up to speed and how often you have to stop and accelerate back to that speed has far more to do with it.
If you feel the need to jackrabbit from each start to get satisfactorily low mileage does not mean you are "driving correct" or that the guys with better numbers are driving wrong. This is completely why comparing mileage is a fools game.

Allch Chcar 01-11-2018 09:06 PM

So far I get 29 MPG in the winter and 31-32 MPG in the summer. Average is 30.5 MPG. How I drive depends on traffic and weather. My route is mostly rural highway with one or two stop signs.

And yes this is the umpteenth time this thread has been made.;)

ermax 01-11-2018 09:10 PM

When he says “driving wrong” I think he means driving like you own a Prius. As in, accelerating slowly with your goal being to get the best MPG possible. I don’t think he literally means you are doing something wrong. If you get over 30 in city conditions then you clearly aren’t driving it like a sports car. And I kind of agree with him... that is all wrong. Hahaha

Meh. If you determine the style of driving by some mileage numbers you are probably driving "wrong" in the other direction.

As I said, I drive it like I stole it, not like I’m in a MPG competition. If I wanted that I would have bought a Prius. But I have been very impressed with the mileage without even trying. If running it to red line regularly is wrong in your eyes then so be it. 😉

gravitylover 01-12-2018 12:05 AM

Around where I live 25-26 is about the best I can do. When I spend a bit of time on longer rides 27-29 and if I can mix in some highway stretches, or at least not stop and go for 20-30 miles at a time, 30. All highway 32-34 if I just go gas station to gas station and they're both close to the entrance/exit. My overall long term for the 80k miles I've had the car is a bit over 28.

HSUBLU 01-12-2018 02:57 AM

My daily commute is about 8 miles one way to work on back roads with a few stop signs and lights in the way. If I consume most of a tank this way, I get really shitty mileage on that tank. If I start getting on the highway or doing any longer drives that's when I start getting much better mileage.

Nah. I don't think it is wrong at all. No more then not wringing it out to red line every day is wrong. It is the whole "if you don't wring it out every day you should have bought a Prius" mentality that rubs me the wrong way.
The car has the ability to be driven like that if you have the opportunity and desire to do so but if you don't it doesn't mean you are driving "wrong" as has been stated.

thomasmryan 01-12-2018 08:19 AM

27-31 driving it balls to the wall 80% of the time. i don't/rarely use 5th or 6th gear nor get in traffic/lights. 4th is good to the low triple digits.

IDFWU 420 01-12-2018 08:40 AM

Everything stock besides my 18' inch rep wheels.

21.5 MPG :'''( in LA roads

Zoid 01-12-2018 12:13 PM

Man, you guys are making me feel bad. I was getting about 28.5 for a while but for the last few months I've been getting about 25-26. But I have been driving a bit harder and using 5th a bit less in the city. I guess you could say now that I feel more comfortable with the MT I'm having more fun with the car.

tennisfreak 01-12-2018 12:46 PM

Right now I have to drive my Tundra like a Prius just to get 16mpg if I'm lucky.

Cannot wait to get back in a twin and have "play time" while still getting >25mpg.

JSube 01-12-2018 01:00 PM

Recently installed ACE header to tailpipe mods with Delicious tune. Yesterday's fill-up revealed 18mpg city driving. As I recall, all of them were fun.

Well, I've got around 116,000 miles on mine averaging 33MPG, and I can honestly say they've all been fun.

Like @Tcoat, mine come at near highway speeds but mine are primarily backroads so there is a lot of sharp cornering, fast takeoffs, and general fooling around on nearly every mile.

Evidently, YMMV! :laughabove:
But my numbers weren't an average, just city. And city in a nasty cold snap where I always wait until kickdown to roll off, so I'm sending some gas up into the air. My take-away from your comment, tho, is I have a whole lot more miles ahead of me for "general fooling around!"
