Best way to start is with an intro. So I'm Chris a little about my past and where my passion comes from on this build. Back in 2008 I met a great shop who turned my ordinary Evo 8 into something extra ordinary. The car ended up running a 9.99 1/4 in 2010 to become the 1st stock block evo in the 9s. Then fast forward to 2013 i decided to venture away from the Evo and open a shop of my own. Why would i do that? Well you can't promote yourself while repping another shop which I opened in 2014. But I needed a shop car. Enter my 97 MK4 Supra (Start of my 2jz love). The car was overhauled and fully built in house. I closed up a year later when the military informed me I was transferring to NY. Upon getting to NY I decided I'm going to sell the Supra (biggest mistake ever) and just get out of the military and cars because within 6 months of selling I bought the FRS. Enter my 2013 FRS and the start of the build. I knew I wasn't going to be happy with a stock FRS so I found one for sale turboed with the intentions of driving it a little and then selling off the parts and doing a 2jz conversion during the winter. Well I drove it once and said yea this wont cut it. And so it begins.

So to start the motor had to come out. Wasn't to bad, took about 3-4 hours taking my time.

To go with the trans of choice a T56 magnum you have to remove the stock trans mount. It sucks drilling all the spot welds out. But worth it. Got the motor and trans mocked together, and test fitted.

Got the motor and trans put in. Had to get an extended shifter but it fits. And it brings to where I'm at now.

That's a big turbo.

Chris1083 12-29-2017 05:28 PM

Just a s363, woulda been bigger but had to stay in class regulations.

Been slow go but started mocking up the Ford 8.8, needs a new front cover to fit but will fit good. Then to figure out the mounting for it.

Chris1083 02-25-2018 04:37 PM

Mods please move to engine swap section.

So decided against the 8.8 for some reason. Not sure why, probably to show the naysayers that this diff can hold power. But today was a good day with progress. Installed the new 3.5" t56 to stock diff driveshaft, new intake manifold with Bosch 1600cc injectors, got turbo and downpipe secured, removed stock fuel lines, and mounted/centered the intercooler.

Well depends on the power level you want to make, but yeah lets see how well the stock diff does.

I have the 8.8 here so conversion will cost a little but heck I'll push till the diff blows and then worry about it. I can make a little selling the built axles to offset. I just like to push limits and see. Kinda like I did with my old evo.

What adapter plate did you use to mount the T56? Is is the Granna racing adapter plate?

Chris1083 04-09-2018 08:22 PM

Yes it's the Grannas bellhousing. It's actually his original CSR one he had on his car.

Depends on the day. If someone was to offer a decent price it would leave but nothing ever came of it so it's slowly getting finished.

I told you if I hadn't already bought 95% of my parts i'd be all over this. Any advice for me on expanding the trans tunnel lol? CD009 is having a hard time getting up in there

I didn't have to expand. I just ground down a few spots on the trans. But I'm sure just getting under with a hammer of sorts would. Just gonna take time.
