Toyota 86 2017 special edition HAC (Hill Assist Control)
Hi, does anyone know how to turn hill assist control on?
https://i.imgur.com/NzMKzCy.png according to the toyota website for the 2017 models it should be enableable... I've tried looking through the settings and I can't seem to figure how to turn it on :/ |
Hillstart assist is also off by default. To turn it on:
- Park car in a flat location - stop the engine - start the engine and check that the ABS warning light and slip indicator are off - Press and hold the "Traction-off" button (leftmost button that looks like car with skidmark and the word "off" at the bottom) for 30 seconds. Both VSC and Traction Control off indicator should illuminate and then turn off. - Within 5 seconds after the indicator lights turn off, release the "Traction-off" button, then press the switch again within 2 seconds of releasing it. - The hill start assist ON indicator will illuminate and then turn off. - Turn the engine off, then restart the engine - If done correctly the hill start assist ON indicator should now be illuminated. I still have no idea why this is disabled by default. I love this feature on my Dad's '08 Mini, and wish my '16 had it...

What I'd really like, is to bale to hold the unlock button on the FOB, and have both widows roll down automatically.

Does anyone ever read the owners manual?

My BRZ is my first manual transmission vehicle and I hate hill assist. Can't feel the clutch engage when hill assist is doing it's thing.
|
So hows this work? Just automatically actuates the rear brakes?

For those interested here is the link. Toyota 86 Owners Manaul I'm all for helping people find information but if you spend 25-30k on a vehicle buy a 2 dollar coffer sit down and read the manual. At the very least scan the table of contents so you have an overview of the primary features. |

Everybody should read the manual for anything they buy but it is especially important with cars. There is a lot of cool stuff in there. |

So am I the only one who read the manual 2-3 times while waiting for my car to be delivered?
For me, there are far too many idiots in automatic transmissions that sit 2 inches off my bumper at a light. The extra peace of mind that i wont roll back into them as much is nice. Even if i don't technically need it. To OP: Hill Start Assist wont actually help you get started on a hill, just give you a bit more time before you roll backwards. You will still stall if you let out the clutch wrong, and you will start to roll as soon as clutch engagement starts (this includes backwards if you are too timid once engagement starts). |

Roll back into them. They'll learn. |
im amazed people still do that in san francisco of all places, even on those ridiculously steep hills where even an automatic will roll backwards.

I had no idea this was a thing on these cars.
I thought this place WAS the manual. |

I like the hill assist. It only kicks in on super steep hills and I appreciate it. Don't have to rev as high, no fuss, no rollback. Just forward motion

hill assist helps if an asshole is parked up your butt on a steep hill. i'd much rather not let it roll back or burn the clutch so it's actually helpful. I have it on my lexus which is great in stupid cities like downtown san fran. I personally use the ebrake which works the same. no roll back and easy to use. and it's mechanical so I have full control. nothing wrong using it in a way that it works. those of you who say you don't need it probably live on a pancake and not in terrible cities with hills.
