50th Anniversary BRZ??

Some of you that have expressed wishes in other threads are about to get excited!

Those of you wanting a turbo will still be sorely disappointed, however. :)

It took me reading this article yesterday to realize what you likely meant in a previous remark. I think I know what to expect with this one now. :)

Give us the deets :D

Worth holding off on a tS?

sfdai0 11-22-2017 06:51 PM

Ok give us some clues for us that arent clued in. Is this a HP performance or just more shiny aesthetics?

Isopher 11-22-2017 09:58 PM

I will be genuinely surprised if they actually alter performance. It will probably get some special body bits and maybe a special color/sticker. So basically it MIGHT be wallpaper material, but no reason to run out and buy one. But thats just my two cents.

Is the "new, common color" going to be the Cool Grey Khaki?

extrashaky 11-23-2017 01:07 AM

This was announced in February. There was nothing new in that article. It's just clickbait.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzz...........................

why? 11-23-2017 09:40 AM

unless they decide to add tons of carbon fiber, i doubt it will be anything too special. We know they won't add power, and I doubt they will give us too much extra when it comes to handling.

Summerwolf 11-23-2017 09:48 AM

Its probably going to be a limited, maybe with performance paclage in a unique color with a 50th anniversary badge...... they're doing it across the lineup so don't expect much.

Yeah, but the turbo motor will be an EJ.....so.... :bonk: Subaru never seems to hit the mark.

The internet has already decided they are building a whole new 2.4 engine which I believe will be labeled the OHYA series. That is what will be in it.

We are building a new 2.4l flat four. I can say that because we announced it at the New York show. And it drives really, really nicely.

Now this part is pure wish/hope on my end, so ya can't take it as news because I have heard zero about the next gen WRX/STI, but I really hope some form of this motor makes it into the next STI. It'll probably be at least a year and a half, maybe two years before they start to give us any hint of what's coming on the next model.

Is there some sort of official statement on the 2.4? I have found nothing other than different forum theories and car blogs citing those theories.

I eagerly await the WRX/STI on the new platform. Very impressed with the 17 Impreza we got the wife and a performance version may well be a game changer.

I don't know if they put it in writing, but if you can find the video of the reveal, they said the concept is powered by a 2.4. Anyways, yes, it is. reveal is evening of the 28th, so only a few days away.

I hope Subaru actually proves all the naysayers wrong and drops something in the car and we are all like :confused0068: but I doubt it.

Couldn't find the reveal video but the new teaser doesn't really say anything. It is funny though since they apparently could not find a real person to do the voice over so they had the GPS do it.
