how a can i go back to the MK1 concept???

ok so i was thinking that after the NY auto show and the release of Scion concept, there is no way a can go back and settle for the MK1 or MK2 concepts. so toyota better keep the production version very, very close to the MK3 model, because if not i swear ill consider switching to the 2012 gen coupe turbo.

i know lots of you guys are going to hate on me, but this is serius stuff!

the scion version is perfect! so why would toyota go back and give us boring version and expect us to buy it?

C-Bone 04-30-2011 01:19 PM

With concept cars they only have to build maybe a handfull, so they can have sharp lines and crazy lights and wheels and ehxaust and interiors. When they go to production and are making thousands of cars I'm sure it keeps costs WAY down to simplify the design... Just the way it is but we'll see i guess

Siriusly.Andrew 04-30-2011 01:25 PM

Well, considering all 3 were basically the same car with different body kits...

El_STiG 04-30-2011 02:25 PM

GenCoupe turbo... <3 it's like an updated S14.

Midship Runabout 04-30-2011 02:38 PM

How can you guys think the mkI is boring? A year ago everyone was drooling over its aggressive lines. But now that the hot wheels looking cars have been displayed, mkI is boring?

well, not boring, boring! but, its not a fun fest either. you get what im saying, plus lots of things have chage in a year! and we all know that the 2012 GC is going to get remodel and more power for about the same price of the FR-S. SO IM JUST SAYING THAT TOYOTA BETTER GET IT RIGHT with this car.

plus today i paid 4.04$ for a galon of regular fuel, and im hating the world right now. :iono:

OldSkoolToys 04-30-2011 03:26 PM

I can go back to the mk1, very easily, its still my overall favorite in terms of production styling.

If you MUST have the mk3 bit for bit as the production car you might as well just go look for something else. That's not happening.

I personally don't mind... but you know Toyota is going to take a shit ton of flack for doing that, and the car isn't going to be as well received at it should be.

Jordo! 05-01-2011 02:06 AM

So far I've liked every new version better than the last.

EJ20 05-01-2011 02:43 AM

I already plan to go 2012 miata (or a very low milage S2000) if the ft86 fail. And hopfully toyota will do it right for us "Please God help them think about us"

VenomRush 05-01-2011 07:38 AM

i like when people "threaten" to get another car if its not made their way.. it makes me laugh

More like:

"If this car doesn't have 300WHP and rumble like thunder and is a Toyota I'm getting a Supra"

Although "300WHP", "rumble like thunder", "Toyota", and "Supra" could be replaced with anything that fits.

Funny, I'm torn by the opposite, in a sense. I have always bought used. But if Toyota does what I want I feel compelled to buy new to support them.

I suppose. However, I'm still wondering what that GSport will be labeled as, because there hasn't been any information stating it'll be a Scion. Hence my comment before this. ;p

Of course its now set in stone that the FR-S is going to be a Scion now (which still does suck. Lol). Scion (guessing) <25k. Subaru 25-28k+Turbo and RWD?

[Kind of not related]Ok I'm still subie nub, but I can't take the word that comes out of everyones' mouth when they say things like.. Mitsubishi's Tranny's constantly have problems at around 4-5 year mark and the occasional "Don't get a subie! They have tranny problems like mitsu!" Better to get info directly from guys who know their cars than just asking people who's opinions are already biased.[/ kind of not related]

The G's sport is built with the collaboration of Gazoo Racing and Toyota. Toyota will offer a lineup of Gazoo tuned cars to the Japanese market in 2010 (aka, they already should have). Hence, other markets will not be seeing the G's Sport version. As far as seeing an FR-S turbo?

*prepares to repeat on this*

Scion does not offer different trim levels or packages. The car comes with some features standard, and the rest is added on via accessories. We can be guaranteed that the base Scion FR-S will be N/A. Scion, in the past, has only offered a Force Inducted addon once, in 2005, with a supercharger for the tC. It was very very BRIEF, and Scion has not done it again since. That does not mean to say we won't see a turbo addon option for the FR-S, but what it does mean is, don't get your stinkin' hopes up too high about it. As far as the other things the G's sport package changed on the Mk1 FT-86, those should be standard accessories from Scion (rear lid spoiler, side skirts, misc. aero addons, etc.)

Don't worry, there's always the subie. All I can hope for is an affordable base car . . . hopefully starting at $23k

I'm not getting my hopes up, but you never know. They may not offer any trims right off the bat, but by 2014, 2015 they might add some improvements.

Can we really quantify the MKII (design by Dezi) and the MKIII (by Axis) as valid concepts->production? These were side projects to see what other designers can come up with. I have a slight feeling that the final production might not look anything like the MKII and MKIII.

You are correct. Production will probably take styling cues from them but in the end Mk1 looks the most production ready.

RRnold 05-02-2011 03:00 PM

I really hope so. Only time will tell. :happy0180:
