Is the widebody fad ruining our cars?
Maybe I am the only one who see's it coming, I pray to my atheist non-existant God that I am not, that our unmolested 86's will be worth a pretty penny in the not so distant future due to all of the children ruining their cars by mounting widebody kits to them. Have we not learned from the 90's and early 2000's?
Widebodies are TEMPORARY(yet with no return to stock), NOT PRACTICAL(not even a little bit), RARELY FUNCTIONAL(with most applications), UGLY AS DIRT(with most applications), A WASTE OF MONEY(that you could be giving your mother for rent), RICER AS FUCK(Asia rules!), and most of all CHILDISH(tiny peepee). This scenario is no different than trying to find an unmolested Nissan 240 or Toyota MR2. Those were both amazing cars yet to find one stock would be a rare gem due to the ignorance of people's children. Anyone want to argue about it?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1de78e8fca.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...55a345da5b.jpg Sent from my Galaxy S8+ using Tapatalk |

Temporary? nope Not practical? how much practicality does it lose? not much, other than being a sleeper or fitting into tight parking spots. Waste of money? Not your money. Ugly? Looks are subjective. Ricer? Look above. Childish? Kids are allowed to have fun too. I don't see it as a bad thing, when those cars go to the junkyard, parts will plentiful for those already in the club. FT86CLUB BABY! |

You're right, wind tunnels don't work with stock tires.... Sent from my Galaxy S8+ using Tapatalk |

If a person reaches the point where they actually need it, I doubt they would be doing it and still be using stock tires. Dat front end grip bro!! PRIMACY FOREVER :burnrubber: |

No one uses actual wind tunnels these days, not even the car manufacturers(who would be using stock tires). I use a suite of software that simulates a real wind tunnel to 100% accuracy but with more detailed data than a real tunnel. There are a few different programs out there. I use Autodesk Flowdesign. And trust me, none of them are cheap kid. Sent from my Galaxy S8+ using Tapatalk |
And canards are not primarily for down force. They are intended to divert airflow from entering the wheel well. Hense why a wind tunnel is needed moron. Anyone can create downforce.

In 10 years, Craigslist will be flooded with jank 86's that have widebody rivets falling out of them. "It has a boxer engine with a pandem bunny kit and runs great! $3200"

I say variety is a spice of life. There will always be a market for all sorts..

Why pose the thread title as a question for discussion if you've already made up your mind?
Better yet, are you implying that when someone pays for a thing with their own money that they shouldn't have the right to do with it what they want? That they should refer to a dictator to tell them how to live their lives? Why do you hate freedom. |

I've got a few things to say. Yes, the fad of half baked, liberty walk, rocket bunny, garbage "widebody" kits is cancer. I've seen a few custom made sheet metal widebody kits that are absolutely gorgeous but when you're cutting away your fenders and riveting some gaudy afterthought onto the outside, you are ruining the car. Go ahead and screw up your handling by significantly increasing your track width and not making any other adjustments to accompany it while you're at it. The worst is the front fenders, which could easily be made as an entire new part if they weren't so cheap and lazy. It is stupid.
About as stupid as the OP, who apparently thinks CFD is 100% accurate. That is easily the most idiotic statement I'll see all day. |
Meh, I personally don't care for it but far be it from me to tell a person how to spend their money.

No I think it's improving it if anything.

Over 100,000 twins are in existence currently (with more continuing to be made), how many of those do you think have widebody kits?
Surely far more people total these cars by driving like idiots than the ones who add widebody kits. |

So much bizarre in this thread, starting with the guy who thinks CFD is “100% accurate“ and ending with crazy random Tupperware super glued to the nose of his car.
