What's the biggest waste of money you've spent your money on?
For me, hockey cards.
I have spent quite a bit of money on them. I don't know why but it's fun opening them..... just to get pictures of dudes. It's so stupid. A company will produce the cards and then limit certain ones, which makes it more valuable. Why the ef do i even buy them? I probably will keep buying them though..... Going to buy exhaust for my car soon. That's a lot of money to make my car sound different and add a tiny bit of power. |
Food.
It always just turns into shit. |
MAGIC CARDS! I have so many, and I've sold off a bunch and got like $500 and still have a ton.
Arguably worse than hockey cards. Oh also $5k on a track suspension setup for my car when I don't track. That was pretty dumb. Quote:

My wedding, should have eloped and used the money to buy a new car.

^So glad I'm satisfied with two watches for <$250 total and that addiction got filled before I spent much more. It's a fun hobby but not for me. Maybe someday I'll get a nice German flieger (there's one with a bronze case that I almost bought, but at ~$800 I'm glad I didn't) or a nifty chronograph that's vintage inspired, there's a couple Rolex's that look super nice (I dig the arctic explorer ii a lot) but I get so much more enjoyment out of other hobbies.
I'd say about half my car mods have been worth it, I've gotten an incredible amount of satisfaction and enjoyment from my car so that's money well spent, but there's a few thousand bucks I do regret, they come with lessons though so it wasn't a total waste. None of them were pointless though (like an antenna or intake) No if there's anything I regret it's wasted time, time I could have spent working out instead of laying on the couch getting fat, or looking for a higher paying job, or learning about car setup so I can be at least semi-competitive autocrossing, or writing, or playing/writing music. You need some time to decompress every day, but not 2-3 hours of nothing, I really need to cut down on that wasted time. |
Oh man, that "watch ticking" sound immediately reminded me of this awesome track:

Video games. Much rather have spent all that money on car parts.

Pokemon cards. They release new sets 4 times a year and you need some new ones to compete or just to collect. It was worse when thry didn't rotate old sets out since what worked was a smaller pool so cost went up.
Though I think it is still cheaper then Magic competitively lol |
Market price steak on Valentine's day.

Lottery tickets and scratchers every Friday

Remember guys SNES Mini line-up starts tonight.

I'd sum up my biggest waste of money in one word: "youth".
Seemed like a good idea at the time though! |

Oh the irony! Although this can be time well spent as well. |

I am now going to make a big assumption that you are spending on 'ex girlfriends' when stoned on beer and weed. My biggest cash wasters has been cars, cars, stocks and shares!! Oh and my pension fund!! |
How about 30 years worth of whisky .......:bonk:
humfrz |
I bought a Lenovo Ultrabook ideapad Intel i7 core laptop so I would have an HDMI output for my 23 inch monitor that I could read forums on.
After about a year (no more factory support) the HDMI port quit working. FML. Still it has a 15 inch screen, but wtf. <trump>Sad</trump> |
I wish I had wasted more money instead of time to save money. Money kept coming but time will never come back.

A POS Miata that keeps breaking faster than I can fix it. I bought it to enjoy at autocross a year and a half ago. Haven't been to one yet because of it being a piece of crap or some other conflict like work or other commitments. I could have had a much nicer one by now that actually works if I had just spent a grand or two more up front. It will still serve its purpose of being a cheap and disposable toy to learn on but after about a season, I'm ditching it in favor of the 86, and losing my ass on it in the process.

Air Jordans.

All my R/C stuff. I just don't use it that much. Might have if I didn't get back into autocross...
Though the darkroom setup I've never once used may beat that... |

I haven't checked my transaction history for in-app purchases recently, but it's more than I care to admit. Also, I guess Steam Games that I bought but haven't played count. |

They're getting to be too old at this point but I'm sure they were great to scoop up a decade or so ago when they were still reliable. If someone wants to do an engine swapped exocet, mine would be just about the perfect one to have though, because pretty much everything other than the engine and the body is brand new. |

On that note, I think the FR-S and BRZ are the biggest wastes of money, but the owners have paralyzed their mouths with the shit-eating grins they get driving them so they can't admit it. :D |

The 86 is brilliant and even if your picky most cars out there haven't been too screwed up if you know what you're looking at. |
Biggest waste of money? My Ex wife, hands down :bonk:

Yep. There are still some decent NB's that have been garage kept and are in decent shape. The NA market has completely gone down the toilet. There's also the issue of the broomstick test, which I don't think I can pass even with fixed back racing seats and side mount brackets. What is going to be happening soon is I'm going to get myself a big 'murican 4x4 v8 truck for towing, can the Miata, and start racing the 86. |
Ex wife--no contest! Half of a house, bank account,6 full length leather coats,a new Fiat 124 spyder, yada, yada, yada. Expensive learning experience in my 20's.
Best investment--my wife of 33 years. |
