New paint code for 2018? "Thunder"

Not sure if anyone else uses Toyota Reference, but noticed something interesting that popped up on their site:

http://importarchive.com/scion/frs/paint

If you look at paint section, for 2018, no more hot lava and replaced by a yellow called "thunder". The paint codes (NAD) matches with the 2017 series yellow BRZ.

Mistake or accidental leak a few weeks before 2018 details go out? Argue among yourselves!

I am fine with it ending! I may have to go find a new 16 to buy and park for a few years until I need another though.

Veloist 09-13-2017 02:37 PM

Hmm if that's true that makes HyperBlue the unicorn color between the twins GLOBALLY, until we get more details on that Solid Grey paint released in Japan

Slammillionaire 09-13-2017 02:41 PM

Toyota are a bunch of H8Rs.

Thunder reminds me of BMW's Dakar yellow

imnotsureaboutbrz 09-13-2017 02:48 PM

I'm gonna be pissed if Toyota does indeed produce 2018 86's in the same color as my Series.Yellow... where's the sense of uniqueness.

What about the RS 2.0?

Edit: Meaning, is Desert Khaki offered on the twins anywhere else in the world?

Also, what about the 10-series? Was that color offered anywhere else?

I think that's a different paint color. Different paint code.

Oops, definitely read RS 1.0. My bad.

Breadstickz 09-13-2017 03:40 PM

not gonna lie i'm also gonna be a little annoyed if they come out with the same yellow as my series yellow on a regular 86=_=

Wouldn't blame you. The chip is pretty hard to judge by but my guess it will be closer to tan than yellow.
Pretty safe bet it is a real colour coming up but we don't know if it will be a regular production car or a special edition.

EDIT:

Teach me to not research before guessing (I will do it again though)
The NAD paint code is indeed the same as the Series Yellow!

Oh you are batting 1,000 today!
I have had a couple of yellow cars and as long as it isn't some washed out pastel I love the colour on the right body style.

Yellow can look good, but it requires a ton of work and a ton of black accents, especially a black skirt package that just makes them beautiful, but then again, black accents and black skirts can make any car look good if it suits it. I'll give you a pass on the lancer, but white lancer is the best.

I am a hot lava supremacist, and this "thunder" color is obviously inferior and will not replace us.

Once you go black, you never go back.

I just wish they had stopped before they put that horrible droopy nose out in the colour.

It is a bit funny, though, stabbing the Series owners in the back.. Seems like a new special edition every other month. I like my boring "White Privilege".

Teseo 09-13-2017 05:49 PM

Thanks to that my car will be more unique

ichitaka05 09-13-2017 06:00 PM

Not the actual car in the image, but I had a '73 Opel GT identical to this, back in the day.

Ummmmm. They have one special edition a year. Not so strange or excessive really.

I have a total of about 10 pictures of the cars I owned between 1974 and this one. There are loads on the internet that are at least close to them though.

They didn't have digital cameras back when I had that. I think I might have had a Polaroid SX-70 around that time.

I didn't even have that. The very few pictures I have were taken with a cheap 110.

Or by somebody else (i.e. my wedding)

In all it's six cylinder 3 on the tree glory I could (and did) indeed pass many a "faster" car.

Blue Flame Six - 235.5ci, 145 HP 1 barrel carb
Three speed - first and reverse 2.94:1, second 1.68:1, third 1:1.

If only the 86 had such a transmission. It would be unbeatable.

Engine and tranny swap! No ECU to worry about. Would need to drill a hole for the manual choke cable to pass through though.

I'd like a straight six in mine, please. How about a flat-five? Too bad Toyota did not ask Yamaha to take a look at the engine like they did with the LFA.

nitro_alltrac 09-13-2017 11:09 PM

Three on the tree would be one hell of a security system.
