Anything you do to your car is technically a mod.

A brick through the passenger wind is a nice cheap mod...

Is this seriously an auto-sticker thread? If so, head over to /reddit or 4Chan and check out their auto-sticker threads.

This is dumb.

Something to do with stickers. Probably best that it was edited early!

id say my front swaybar was the best thing under $200 for me.

guybo 08-21-2017 10:54 AM

Who cares about the OP? The question is- what's the best mod for under $200.

I say used Berk dual exit muffler delete. My used aero kit was under $200 too.

There is no "best" mod for any price. All depends on what you are after. There can be a 'favorite' mod but not "best".

mrspindlelegs 08-21-2017 11:34 AM

I'm not certain if this fits everybody's definition of a "mod" but upgrading the factory wheel studs to ARP-grade studs for ~ $120 may qualify.

that's not a bad idea

I don't think any of the mods on this forum could be bought for less than $200. I mean it's not like they have high standards, they're just so opportunistic.

norcalpb 08-21-2017 02:17 PM

I like driver mods that change how the car feels when you drive it:

Intake pipe/filter - $150 (improves throttle response)
Brake master cylinder brace - $100 (improves braking feel)
MTEC shifter springs, clutch spring, rear shifter bushing, front shifter bushings -$120 (improves shifter and clutch feel)
Cusco gas pedal - $50 (improves heel-toe ability)
Perrin steering rack lockdowns - $80 (improves steering feel)

In a word, placebo.

track lessons?

mrg666 08-21-2017 04:57 PM

First mod you can do that makes a difference in driving is tires. So, start saving your money by putting that $200 aside until you can replace the tires. If you want to replace the wheels as well, don't buy tires until you decide on the wheels; replace them together starting from ~$1000.

The next change that makes a difference in driving, if it is legal in your state, is replacing the exhaust header. You can do that without tune starting from ~$700 as well.

And, you can do the followings for around/under $200 if you do yourself. These make a difference for your reliability and/or performance:
Mishimoto oil catch can
replace the brake pads with stoptechs
install OEM STI oil cooler
replace brake fluid

I don't care enough about anything else to recommend before a supercharger upgrade which starts at $5000.

Catbacks, cold air intakes, K&N air filters, etc. are just fancy mods that actually don't make much difference in performance.

Aesthetic mods are personal and can be cheap or expensive. You can do anything you want.

Be careful with too many mods since their cost can be higher than the out-of-pocket price with reduced resale value of your car.

Since this thread apparently started about stickers I think you are way out of the league!

LOL, I didn't realize that. $200 for decals? :bonk:

BaatLuk 08-21-2017 06:43 PM

Tough crowd but I'll add my 2 cents. For $200, I'd get a Fumoto valve (if you change your own oil, which you should) and a set of OEM JDM side markers and do the turn signal mod. Maybe a window tint if you live in a sunny state.

gravitylover 08-21-2017 07:00 PM

I'll second the fumoto valve. I'd add a good tire gauge a comfortable pair of driving shoes and a few tanks of gas to burn on twisty roads. Learn to really drive the car...

pkolanko 08-22-2017 08:46 PM

The original post was asking about mods and links to these mods. I stated that I haven't done anything besides tint and some decals. The trolls then came out to play. I made this thread to find out some inexpensive ideas that makes your car even better. Things such as the center arm rest come to mind. Oh well, sorry I asked for advice lol

I felt the window tint was money extremely well spent. I have a white series.blue and with all the black accents, the tint really makes the whole car pop.

Well it escalated quickly then!
When somebody deletes or edits a first post we can only assume the worst.

I like this one for Manual Cars: https://anarchy-motive.com/products/titan

BaatLuk 08-22-2017 10:14 PM

Another mod I forgot to mention - if you live in a state that requires a front plate, get a front plate relocator to avoid putting holes on your bumper. Btw, anyone know if there is any quality but less expensive alternatives to the GrimmSpeed one?

Ya it was just people trolling instead of offering advice. However, lots of members did post their ideas, so thanks!

Honestly, I've seen several used ones pop up on various forums, and that's where I got mine. I think for the price its my favorite tow hook plate mount. I would love the Raceng one with a go pro mount but $$$.

How about Lamin-X fog light covers and a set of Toyota mud guards?

The yellow (sticker yes!) is functional as the tinted light works better in fog than white, and looks fantastic with the blue, and the mud guards keep light splashes off the side panels.

Bayareabrz 09-04-2017 12:38 PM

I think the point is best bang for the buck.

If window tint is tour idea you should probably skip posting, I mean really? Face palm.
