My 5th twin - 2017 Halo 860 - Louvers On!

So, here I am again, with my FIFTH BRZ/FRS/86. I picked it up about a month ago and my plan was to keep it stock for this year, as I usually go through cars at a rate of once every two months. That being said, I couldn't help myself and added:

Gloss black vinyl roof
TRD Catback
Toyota window visors
Cusco Street Zero A coilovers
Enkei NT03RR

Goal is just to have a clean, mature (I'm old) looking car. Thinking of getting the TRD front lip / side skirts next. Will probably pass on the rear bumper / quad tip exhaust.. at least for now.

So to add to the story, I couldn't find a local dealer to give me the deal I wanted, so I did a 24 hour 1250 mile road trip, non stop, by myself to trade my last car for the 86.

You're making me regret not getting a 17 BRZ. :(

The new 86 front end has definitely grown on me, love it!

I'm totally with you on this, when the 17 refresh was announced, I didn't think there was any way I'd end up with the 86 vs BRZ, as the front end looked awful. When I finally got to see them in person, I almost felt like the BRZ hadn't changed enough, and the 86 looked better than it did in the pictures. When the special edition with all the creature comforts of the BRZ became an option, I had to pull the trigger.

It's very clean and very mature looking. Very well done! Having said that, I think you'll find the TRD kit spoils the lines of the car somewhat, especially the skirts. May I suggest the Grazio lip and side skirts instead?

That actually looks really good! One of the reasons I'm was leaning towards TRD is because it's one of the few ones that I could find. The plan is to wait for next spring to do the kit, I'm hoping by then there are more options. I think a simple lip kit would be ideal.

I agree. And the fact that you have the option of buying it pre-painted in any factory colour is a major plus for me

And once every 2 months? Not trying to be rude just genuinely curious.

Both of these questions have the same answer. I have a short attention span when it comes to cars.. I bought my first BRZ in late 2012 when they first came out.. For various reasons I've continued to get out, and then back into them, as I really love the simplicity of the platform.

I love your 86, and the Halo white. Just like mine. I know 86 speed has a simple front spliter coming in next month. Keep up the good work. Did your 86 not have trunk spoiler on it when you bought it? I know the one in your photos is optional, and I was wondering about the mounting points.

NT03s look really good. Don't really see those on the FRS/BRZ/86.

ApexEight 08-14-2017 11:26 PM

Holy shit those wheels are money. Look so much better than the regular NT03s. Nice start man

I have the same car those wheels came out great. I was looking at them but couldn't tell how they would look.

I was never a huge fan of the NT03+M, I wanted to love them but couldn't. Once these were released, I knew I had to have them it was a bit of a risk, but I'm happy with the way they turned out.

Minor update, got some swag from Cusco and put my plate frame on today. I should just get a new plate, but I've had my plate on so many cars I feel like I have a bond to it. Also "EPS" is the acronym for our Edmonton Police Service.

Hey if that's what your circumstances allow then that's awesome. Hope you enjoy the new car.

Wow, that's a dead ringer for my former '08 E90 M3. Loved it except for how much gas it slurped.

Enjoy your new 86, it looks great! I'm looking forward to completing break-in on my new BRZ w/ PP tomorrow!

Thank you! Yeah, I loved the M3, I'd had a few other BMWs in the past, it was my first M car and I loved it, especially with the Borla exhaust. I stress about things though and the rod bearings, throttle actuators and stuff were always in the back of my mind so I figured I'd get back into something safe and Japanese. I just finished the break-in on my 86 a couple of days ago, it's a blast.

I sold my M3 (e92) and pick up my BRZ just in July. The BMW was my first euro car and I had the same concerns. Great car but it didn't feel like a sports car to me as much as BRZ does. However I will miss the power, lol.

spicyricecake 08-16-2017 06:19 PM

Something about the white rear ends of these cars does it for me.

tawheed 08-18-2017 01:39 AM

Alignment day yesterday.. Not sure if I should match front camber to rear, or get LCAs to dial out some rear camber.

Always have more Camber up Front or your Car will understeer alot.

With your Wheel/Tyre Combination try

Front -2° to -2,5° and
Rear -1,5° to -2°

I have camber plates on my coilovers up front, will need to get some LCA in the rear. Thank you!

tawheed 08-25-2017 12:57 AM

So this week I got some SPC LCA and was back in for an alignment.. Ended up at -2.5F and -2.0R

Yeah, I'm much happier.. I was going to do 2.0F and 1.5R but he couldn't get it to any less than 2.0 on the rear.

tawheed 09-30-2017 01:26 AM

I've wanted these for a while, finally pulled the trigger.
