Engine looks ok. That concept front end, not so much. Strangely, the concept also looks a little cab-rearward. Which doesn't make a lot of sense seing as how compact that 4 cylinder is. Honda designers have been smoking a little too much happy vape-juice over the last 8 years.

front reminds me of the clarity. 2018 camry looks better

The front overhang and narrow space between the front fender and front door scream FWD.

If Honda's designers can only be this restrained. This render will be closer to the final if the artist adds 16 faux vents with fake plastic honeycomb backing and a sea of piano black. Seriously though, this concept look is closer to a Kia Stinger than the current accord. Coin toss on the actual result.

krayzie 06-19-2017 08:11 PM

It's just an even larger Civic that resembles a Crosstour.

I just watched the turbo engine features video, did anyone notice the sodium filled exhaust valves? :D

I wonder what compression ratio they are using. Any of these new Honda/Toyota motors seems like they could be very nice swap candidates into an older car in a few years as they are getting significantly lighter than the engines from 10 years ago and much more powerful.

Well actually they just keep getting bigger and bigger again.
Long, LONG way to go before they reach what they once were.

Well basically it's the Accord Inspire that we've been getting all this time (the larger Accord while lower trim than the old Vigor / Saber but lost the high end connection overtime like the modern Passat).

NOI 06-27-2017 11:34 AM

Just about anything will be an improvement over the current gen. They butchered the whole deal for me when they changed the civic in 2008...all downhill from there.

how i feel about the new Accord

  :suicide: :barf:

mazeroni 07-14-2017 02:58 PM

The current accord is eh. After the recent refresh, when they added "blades" to the wheels, the front and rear fascia treatment, the designers were obviously pushing its relatively boring design to the limits.

I see the design as being relatively subdued. The side profile is rather simple with the 1 strong character line along the belt line. The rear is the most complex, and possibly could be tidied a little, but the front is uncluttered, i think.

So given that so many people complain about how busy a lot of modern car designs are, I'd call this a win.

Not so sure for me. I see it and all I can say is "Hey look, another nondescript midsize 4 door sedan from somewhere between 2015 and 2018"

mazeroni 07-14-2017 04:25 PM

Sure. And you can mostly draw comparisons to:

https://media.ed.edmunds-media.com/d...oem_1_1280.jpg

- mostly from the front. And yea, just about every automaker has gone "rakish" A7-light, But I see the profile as being more distinct, specifically with a cab-rearward design.

But, what else can they do to be more standout?

Obviously nothing touches the Mazda 6's design, imo.

http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopo...-mazda6-04.jpg

Boring, mass market sedan/ crossover is boring. But relative to the whole field, I think it is 2nd best of the current crop of mid size sedans. I put it above the new Camry.

JoeC 07-14-2017 04:50 PM

I have a hard time trying to understand where all the dissenters are coming from. I mean, it's a sedan. what are you comparing it to and what do you want? I think it looks fine and it seems to be well appointed. You can get it with the 2.0L turbo out of the Civic Type R making 252hp and 273tq and a 6-speed manual. sounds pretty sweet to me...

chaoskaze 07-14-2017 05:34 PM

I think NA target customer will love it? ........... I think it looks good... and look kind like vw concept car from few years back.

& i'm sure this is one of those car that looks better then person then picture. Only thing i don't like about this accord is that i think the design will age faster then the other ones....feels too vw like in some of the lines

BTW I think the all new camry looks better...... & i find it funny how ppl say the all new camry looks like they stole styling from altima/maxima, maybe they did but they made it better.

MotorTrend is reporting the Sport trim will indeed have a 6-Speed manual option, which in my opinion would be pretty sweet.

Looks awful. How did they go from a classy and expensive looking 2017 accord to this...the 2017 justjust looked so much more premium. This new one just looks like they made it ugly on purpose to sell more Acura TLX's

& they removed the CD Player...goodbye Honda.

To be fair, both generations look dull and heavy. I miss the old days.

I think it looks pretty good. Rear end is slung over like the Civic, which I find odd looking.

I'd definitely pick the new Camry over this.

sato 07-15-2017 01:48 PM

Engine and transmission tech looks awesome (no numbers there though), but looks are meh...

WolfpackS2k 07-17-2017 10:52 AM

What's so awesome about the engine?

I'd rather have a large NA V6 over a tiny turbocharged 4 banger. And the 2.0T has 22 fewer horsepower than the Sonota 2.0T that came out almost 10 years ago. (Not that I'd rather pick the Sonota - just pointing out the lack of anything notable).

Meanwhile you can get 325hp out of a 2.7 liter twin turbo V6 in the Ford Fusion Sport.

I don't care that the Accord is an American car.

The tragedy is that the NSX is also.
