Grimm speed or perrin front relocation kit?

So which one u prefer ?

WWEVOX 07-18-2012 12:31 AM

The cheaper one? The lighter one if you going to autocross? (but then you should really just take it off)

imravenit 07-18-2012 01:36 AM

price is not an issue.. Just want to know what others would recommend..

DyoGTS 07-18-2012 01:28 PM

I went with the Grimmspeed one. I chose that because you have lots of configuration options, so you can line up the plate right where you want it. The Perrin one looks like you can only move the plate up or down.

Tylub 07-18-2012 03:09 PM

It appears that the Grimmspeed one might be better as DyoGTS stated due to the adjustable nature of the bracket and it seems bracket setup seems to be made of better materials :D same price too soo.... Grimmspeed for me!

itsibarra 07-19-2012 07:09 AM

Grimmspeed. Angle + horizontal + vertical adjustment seems like a better custom mount.

Agreed. The Grimmspeed plate locator has a lot of adjustabilty built in. i'm happy with mine.

FT-86 SpeedFactory 07-19-2012 09:23 AM

Grimmspeed is going to be the best option. Cusco and Perrin are the other two.

Mari0 07-19-2012 09:48 AM

+1 on Grimmspeed!

computertech01 07-19-2012 10:21 AM

Had to post so you can see the benefits of both seeing as everyone said grimmspeed. I like the perrin mount due to it having a more solid feel. I don't really care about adjust-ability this thing is durable.

It comes down to do you want it to be adjustable vs solid durability.

Or, be like me and not run a front plate in a state that requires one. :scared0016:

I haven't run front plates of my S2K for the past four-five years. I got One no front plate ticket... Stupid Pasadena....

finch1750 07-19-2012 01:07 PM

Grimmspeed. The adjustability is huge. The side of the plate sticks out really far due to the body lines unless you shift it more towards center and the grimmspeed one allows for it while Perrin doesn't it appears.

TuxedoCartman 07-19-2012 01:23 PM

I like a lot about my Grimmspeed one, though it's not perfect. I'll try and post pictures later. And finch1750 is right: unless you move it a bit more towards the center, it looks odd and out of place.

thejevans 08-31-2012 04:50 PM

I got the Rho Plate. Great quality. I don't have a front plate yet, but will post pictures when I do.

whitefrs 08-31-2012 05:22 PM

Grimmspeed FTW

Hippophobia 08-31-2012 08:41 PM

I like my Perrin one. Feels super solid and you can't see it from the front, unlike the Grimmspeed one which shows a little bit of the top and bottom if you don't have a plate cover. Also, it's funny if you don't have a plate on it (for whatever reason) it looks like your car has a bow-tie. HAHA!

developer 10-29-2012 04:12 PM

Just got my Perrin plate re-locator. Solid, great fit and finish, professionally packaged, literate instructions. Best customer service I've received in a long time. I am waiting for their ECU tune, it will be worth it.

Tylub 10-29-2012 04:25 PM

can anyone post more pictures of the kit?
side shot, angled front on both sides? probably a back angle to show the plate holder too?

thanks in advance as i still haven't seen good pictures of them yet!

The kit comes with 4 large black washers so that you can adjust how far the bracket extends from the bumper. I used two, but one would have been fine. I hope these pictures help.

Craig 10-29-2012 05:01 PM

I went grimmspeed, I don't think one's better than the other honestly.

HATED1 10-29-2012 05:04 PM

i went with this and have had no problems

SkullWorks 10-29-2012 05:06 PM

ummm....exactly how concerned are you guys with the strength of this product and why?

People keep claiming the perrin one is more durable...I didn't see the stress analysis...please repost...

I find the GrimmSpeed to be more than sturdy enough, line up perfectly with my standard issue Cali plate, allow adjustability, (mine is tucked between the headlight and DRL on the BRZ angled heavily so it is only really visible from front or passenger side.

I don't see there being a real comparison to make here...not that i don't like Perrin (love their R and D for exhaust etc)...but the plate mount lacks versatility and function....if I wanted the plate mounted up front and square i would have put it in the factory location...I wanted mine out of the way...

developer 10-29-2012 05:31 PM

Honestly, I am sure any of them would do. It is just holding a license plate. I just appreciate a nice design and quality workmanship. I just think Perrin took some time to make a really slick kit for the money. I am certainly not saying anything bad about the other kits.

Makes for a great mini-battering ram as well!

zerodark 10-30-2012 06:54 AM

I know the title is asking about GrimmSpeed and Perrin.. but does anyone have the license plate relocator by PTuning?

When it comes down to it I am sure they are all virtually the same minus a few minor differences.

I ordered one but still waiting on it (damn being out in Hawaii).

Neziah 10-30-2012 09:48 AM

I bought a GrimmSpeed one before Perrin released theirs, it has a ton of adjustability since it is more of a generic kit. Which means it takes more screwing around to get it just right. You do have a ton of adjustment with it, but honestly there is really only so much of it you can use on the car and keep the plate off of the bumper. Whereas the Perrin one just bolts on and is good to go. I had concerns the Grimmspeed one would come loose over time, but after 6 months seems OK so far. I would suggest you look at the pictures of the Perrin one and if you like where it sits go for it just based on ease of install. But if you want a little more adjustment for fine tuning go with the GrimmSpeed.

I haven't gotten a ticket since 2007. :iono:

emutcfut 03-13-2013 07:18 PM

A friend of mine has a Rhoplate loves my Grimmspeed not only for its adjustability but because it offers some protection for the actual license plate. Being clumsy, he brushed past his with his knee and bent his license plate because it doesnt back the entire plate like the Grimmspeed does.

No they got me while parked.

It was something like $15 or $25? Just put something on with zip ties so they could see it at the station then took it off again and never got bothered again.

JDKane527 03-25-2013 12:22 PM

I got the Perrin one since I'm running a few other Perrin parts. Part of me wishes I discovered the P-tuning one before I ordered, having integrated camera mount and interchangeability is pretty nice.

Lverasky 03-25-2013 01:46 PM

Grimmspeed it what I have..love it.

Chef 03-31-2013 01:42 PM

I went with Grimmspeed but haven't installed it yet...

civicdrivr 03-31-2013 08:03 PM

Grimmspeed ftmfw. I love the adjustability.

I bought the Perrin... haven't installed it yet.

I just think the whole "off the side look" is going to have to grow on me... it just looks a bit odd.

camelflage 07-29-2013 03:39 PM

i got this, cause its cheap and its prime..
