That's like having the world record for gazing at your own navel.

Kronos 06-16-2017 05:28 PM

Just read that a few hours ago. Using the 86 for this was perfect. Basically fulfilling its destiny regarding what it was built for.

Celica00 06-16-2017 05:44 PM

The funny bit to me is the previous world record was already a GT86

I suppose this is a stupid question, but I wonder if the car needed aux fuel tanks to go 100 miles plus in that running condition. I also wonder what the rear tires looked like afterward.

PetrolioBenzina 06-16-2017 06:10 PM

I don't get the drifting thing, but then again I'm a middle-aged grump. I'd rather go around a corner just on the edge of the traction pie. I'm not denying the skill involved in doing something like that, though.

I could be completely wrong but with a wet skidpad I can't imagine they'd be in that bad of shape. Guess it depends how wet.

I think I would consider a wet skidpad to be cheating.

Is it hard to drive with an onion on your belt?

Nope, I just tell stories that don't go anywhere.

Could one could put any car on a frozen lake and "drift" around for a few hours/miles and break that world record ......??

Shit, we used to do that in high school on the frozen lakes in the 70's. If thats the case, then I would would argue I hold the distance, highest BAC and stoned out of my mind world record, all while not killing ice fishermen. In a Chevette.

Fuck me, I'm a "drifter" before it was cool.

I'm pretty sure the 86 was not built for sliding sideways in a wet circle for six hours.

Haha... that reminds me of a car club gymkhana we did on a mud flat.

I actually got 2nd in my 2 cyl Fiat 500!

Hilarious fun watching my buddy in his super fast track car (bridge ported RX3 with locked diff). He would try to turn at the first marker and just disappear into the distance doing 360s.

MarkR171 06-20-2017 02:02 PM

Wet skid pad... lol

Drifting = the synchronized swimming of auto sports.

PetrolioBenzina 06-24-2017 06:38 PM

This is useful how in the real world?

Same for the Fiat 500 but in the snow. It would spin in its own length. You could get out, watch it and get back in.

Humfrz holds the world drifting off record.

Yes, awesome fun car.

In another parking lot gymkhana, I had mine up on two wheels around a marker and in almost slow motion it fell onto it's side.

Two spectators ran over, flipped it back up and I kept going without even stalling it.

Who needs 200kw!
