I just made the worst mistake
long story short, I just signed a contract on GBS BRZ which I initially thought it was WRB. It was midnight when I went to the dealership and I was so hyped up thinking that I would finally own a dream car so I couldn't tell if it was GBS or WRB. I test drove it -> liked it -> signed a contract -> went home only to realize it was GBS LOL. I must have been so high due to fact that it was my first time actually driving the car that I really wanted to drive for past couple years. No, I cannot cancel the contract and now I cannot do anything but convince myself GBS is actually better-looking color than WRB ... which isn't really the truth :( ... call me all you guys want I know I'm so dumb and stupid ... what should I do ?? I will post a pic of it once I pick up the car tomorrow just to prove it LOL.

I think you have a grace period where you might return your car to the dealership, but they might charge few hundred bucks for restocking fee.
The dealership that I bought my car from has 2 weeks grace period to return the car with $500 restocking fee. You might wanna check with your dealership. |
They really won't let you roll the contract over to another new car when you haven't even picked up the first one? It's not like you're trying to bail and walk away entirely.
That said, GBS looks great with silver or gunmetal wheels. If my previous two Subarus hadn't been blue I'd have gone that route. |
I seriously would consider trading my HyperBlue for a GBS BRZ. I love that midnight blue look. It's special and quite rare on BRZ's.
|
Yeah honestly, that dark blue is much better in my opinion. Personally WEB has lost its appeal over the years for me.
As the previous poster said, I hardly ever see the GBS color on the brz. It looks much more "mature" and I bet would grow on you if you kept it. Also, did you ever discuss the WRB color with the sales team? If so and they sort of "let" you overlook it without mentioning anything, that could hold some weight? |
http://www.georgiaconsumerlawyer.com...ng-off-period/
can somebody please summarize this article for me? my capability of understanding this article is kinda hard since my English isn't perfect. Or should I just accept my stupidity and keep the GBS over WRB? |
That means there's no cooling off period where you could come back the next day and return it after you had second thoughts. Some states allow it; some don't. I doubt they committed any type of fraud, since you saw the car before signing and signed the contract that had the VIN and probably paint code on it. In other words, you signed for it; you're stuck with it. Do they not have a WRB car on the lot and they're just seizing the chance to get rid of inventory?
Have you already arranged financing? Through the dealer or a private bank? If that's not been completely finalized then nothing is certain yet. When I bought my first new car the dealer called two days later and said the bank would need another $1500 down to keep the terms of the loan. I told them they could have the car back. They figured it out. |
well thank you guys all for cheering me up ! didn't really expect that LOL. now I think about it, this color seems very rare on the BRZ and I don't mind being unique on the street at all. and @surfwaxsmitty, I, unfortunately, did not say anything about the color as I surely thought it was WRB.

Basically, in Georgia once you buy it there is now grace period where you can change your mind. You buy, it's yours. However, later in the article it discusses fraud, and that would involve you getting a lawyer involved. Tough to say if they misrepresented the car to you. How much discussion did you have about the WRB color? Over how many visits? I mean, one could imagine a scenario where they have a customer who has poor color discernment in the vision, and is purchasing a car for perhaps their child. In that case the customer might be reliant on the dealership to make sure they were getting the intended color. And it could be fraud for them to trick the customer. A situation such as that might have some weight. In your case, if you just knew you wanted WRB and signed on a car you didn't notice was not that color, I think you have to just accept it. .....accept that you accidentally bought a better color! :) Edit- seen your previous response.. well then it's all good and just know that you will truly enjoy the car and there is a very high chance also end up loving such an awesome color!!! |
@gramicci101, I appreciate it for you to actually summarize it for me. Yes, I've signed every paperwork including financial documents. But hey you know what? I'm just gonna accept it and deal with it LOL.

Here's a gorgeous example of dark blue. I've had a WRB car, and I'd rather have GBS.

@surfwaxsmitty, thank you sir! I now really begin to think GBS is actually better-looking color than a WRB... not... yes... I don't know ... hahahaha only time will tell though

Color schmolor...
I kinda wanted that blue color when I was about to test drive/buy mine but the dealership I was dealing with didn't have blue color in stock with a manual. I decided, after test drive, that I should buy the only manual they had, which was some kind of metallic gray color. Never been happier with any other car. |
@gramicci101, wow that sure looks hella sexy!!! thank you for cheering me up!!
|
You'll love it, I have no doubt. Especially once it's clean and waxed and the sun brings out the flake in the paint. I love my dark grey car.
Post pics in the GBS thread once you get it. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3810 |
I forgot that Jive Turkey's was GBS as well. Another beautiful example.

GBS also looks great with gloss black wheels. That's the combo I nearly bought.

could get a wrap (vinyl wrap) and make it any color you want. will protect the real paint job too from tree sap and stuff. will cost you a little more
|
Sorry to hear, but here's my WRB if it makes you feel any better.

It'll buff out, don't worry..

I've heard that rose coloured tints work really well with all colours but WRB. |
There is only one ICONIC colour and I suppose it carries baggage too... a bit like the Kawasaki green or Ferrari red or Honda Type R white..
|
If you haven't taken delivery, don't drive it off the lot. Don't drive it at all.
Look at your paperwork, figure out the financing company and call their customer service. Halt the financing. Level with the sales manager, they have contingencies in place for people who back out of a deal. If they get belligerent with you tell them you have been in contact with the financing company (even if you haven't) and have told them you're not accepting of the car. It generally takes about a week or two for final paperwork to get through to everyone involved (unless it was esigned) so you have a small window of opportunity. Either way....there are ways to get out of the deal. The only color for a proper Subaru is WRB and you shouldn't accept anything less if that is what you want. You'll regret it and resent the car the entire time you own it for your stupid mistake. |
I have a GBS and the color in my opinion is one of the best colors, I dont see many around, then again I dont see many Brz's around either. I might have to reconsider best color too, I just saw a 10 series the other day, and that color had me in a trance lol

Otherwise in the trade known as "Special" dealers and only found through personal recommendations if you know what I mean.. |
GBS owner here. Would never own WRB.

Look at the bright side, you only got the wrong color. Both blues have their own charm. I'm a fan of the GBS, but it's a close call for me.
It could be worse, you could have gotten the wrong trim or gearbox. Imagine getting A/T when you want M/T or vice versa. That affects your QoL, the paint does not as much. Hope you can find a way to solve your issue, but realize that you will have a lot of fun driving the car no matter what color it's in. :burnrubber: I went with a safer white FR-S, but the Hot Lava caught my eye and I almost pulled the trigger on it. "I feel like I'll get sick of it after a year or two" won over the "Wow, this color is awesome!". Whenever I see this hot lava FR-S driving in my neighborhood I second guess my choice. |
I just went to the "build your own" page for the BRZ, and I don't see the dark blue anymore... If that's truly gone, consider yours special now!
Also, I miss my hot lava FR-S, and that's potentially what I'll buy second-hand again when I get my truck paid off! |
Hyper Blue > GBS > WRB
You made a fine decision. 3rd best you could have. I say 3rd best, because red is the best choice. Especially on the BRZ. More Subarus need to be red. |

I wonder why it was dropped?? As for the Lava, Toyota used the Lava as their marketing colour hence everyone wanted one but WRB was only for rally cars and that makes it the dogz bollx! |
