probably just a "unique" paint job and some stitching on a few models. like scion did with the 10 series.

Tcoat 05-23-2017 03:40 PM

LOL

"The Current Plans for Special Edition Releases

As of this article's writing, vehicle experts suspect that the following models will most certainly come out in 2018 special editions: the Outback wagon, the Forester SUV and the Crosstrek crossover. It's also possible that Subaru could be releasing 2018 WRX and WRX STI performance sedans in the special edition form."

Would be surprised if there isn't some special edition BRZ though. I suspect however that what it is depends on how much of one colour of paint they found laying around.

Wait a minute. Fuji Heavy Industries put the first Subaru on the market in 1954. I think they missed their own party.

It wouldn't surprise me if there were no special edition of the BRZ. This seems to be a thing for the "real" Subarus. Subaru people seem to consider the BRZ as a foster child they're just taking care of until it's old enough to push out of the nest.

This is what makes me sad sometimes. They were pioneers 5 years ago and now it looks they are drained of ideas and they are going from the one limited edition to the other.

I bet it will have some more Sti logos inside.

I hate that stupid wing. I would have to swap trunks for something less tacky.

Has there ever been a STi model that didn't have more power than the base model?

This car needs to have more than 205hp so it can outrun the modified minivans.

I don't know. Did Subaru ever have TWD sports car made in conjunction with another company before?

Yep a 300+HP Pedal Masher Special Edition would make a pile of red light warriors very happy I am sure.

I hear someone is excited about this prospect...

A wing and body kit justifies an STI? Nah

Well that has been their standard so far. Of course they could change it up and we will know soon.

Subaru refuses to give this thing more power, other than a 5hp boost for the PP. so maybe max they give it 10. That make an STI? They've publically talked about how they don't want to give this car more power, even in the next generation car

The 5 wasn't just for the PP. It had nothing to do with the PP for that matter. Not everybody (i.e. Europe) even got the 5 and Canada got the 5 but no PP.

IIRC, this is the first time a test car like this has been spotted in the States. All the other rumors were based on concept cars or rumors. This one is actually roaming the streets. It's no longer a matter of "If", but "When".

Maybe they won't increase power, but you can bet Subaru will give this car more than a body kit and wing.

Even more suspension and drivetrain upgrades compared to the PP. Probably Recaro seats and better interior pieces. I couldn't see them doing less than that.

Either they will keep the upgrades to parts bin stuff and some fancy bits or the price will go so high that nobody will buy it anyway. It will be very interesting to see what it actually comes with though.

No recaros. You can see the interior in the spy shots. Standard seats with just a different color scheme

In other words the standard Special Edition fare.

That would be sad if that's the case for the final product.

The recaro seats are my favorite part of the tS.

It's cause this car technically isn't a tS. It's just a package STi put together for the car. There hasn't been a tS developed in Japan for the 2017+ BRZ yet so you wouldn't see the same type of upgrades as the the 2013 and 2015 models.

I would think a STi package would be treated as equal or superior to the tS though. Isn't that how it's viewed in Japan anyways? Don't they have a tS and STi WRX in Japan?

I know America usually gets Japan's scraps, but I would think Subaru would go all out with this car if they are throwing the STi badge on it.
