Looking to turbo frs
 

I'm new here and was wondering about turboing my frs but I don't know really where to start looking for parts . I was hoping someone could help me out . I wanna know what's a good turbo kit and what all will need to be changed if I do turbo my car like injectors, fuel pump etc. if you could help me out that would be grateful :thumbup:

There are tons of kits with tons of info on there. Look around the forced induction threads and read read read. pretty much all your questions have detailed answers.

Depending where you are in Texas I'm sure you could find the Facebook page and ask to ride along to help you decide too.

Look for whatever local group is closest. I.I.e. San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Austin ect

Geez if he can't find a Facebook page or info on FI when posting in the FI sub then this could be another interesting build but I will play.

Do you know how a turbo works?
What are your power goals?
Why are they your goal?
What are your plans for driving the car?
How capable are you of doing your own work?
What have you done to the car already?
Can you afford to have the car down for long and sometimes unexpected periods of time?
And the biggies - What is your budget for install? What is your budget for maintenance and repairs?

Well without all that info what is a "good turbo"?

Although even with that info there will still be 386.62 different and conflicting responses that will leave OP more confused then when he started.

There should be a form to fill out with all those questions before anybody is permitted to post the weekly "What is the bestest turbo" thread.

Do you know how a turbo works? - Spinny whoosh whoosh (I actually do)
What are your power goals? - 496.636kW (actually more like 400kW)
Why are they your goal? - To see what's achievable in below mentioned budget. Also 496.636kW is 666hp ;D
What are your plans for driving the car? - Dry weather daily
How capable are you of doing your own work? - I do all my own work
What have you done to the car already? - Full bolt on N/A, Sprintex SC, Borgwarner Turbo, back to full bolt on N/A, clutch, suspension, diff bracing, solid mounting, misc
Can you afford to have the car down for long and sometimes unexpected periods of time? - Longest I've gone without it was 4.5 months. It's one of 3 vehicles so no issue with down time
And the biggies - What is your budget for install? What is your budget for maintenance and repairs? - $25,000 AUD

Not many people realise the full budget required. Mine will incorporate a built motor but honestly, talking AUD:
Turbo kit -5,000 - 8,000
Clutch - 1,000
Injectors - 600
EcuTek tune (license etc) 1,000 to 1,500
Flex Fuel Kit - 1,100
Tyres or wheels to suit higher power - 800 to 2,500 (very broad prices there)

Total - Around $12,000 AUD roughly. That's around $9,000 USD approximately. And that's only on the stock motor and haven't even included any exhaust system work in that!

A good turbo for anyone is driver mods.

Perfect. Now if the OP gave all the same responses then his first post it sort of silly. Be willing to bet his answers are the total opposite of yours.

Finally, a decent answer...

The SBD turbo kit with most of the supporting mods (fuel pump, clutch and injectors), comes in at $8000CAD. There a few other things that are needed/suggested. One being the STI PCV valve (metal vs our plastic) and an oil cooler. Then factor in another 1000-1500 (just guessing 10-15 hours at 100/hr) for install and you are sitting in at close to 10000CAD (7500USD).

If you are really serious on a turbo the best advice I can give you is have 10 grand in your pocket to start.
