Oh baby- "Baby Driver" movie with a Twin sighting!

Looks very good... Lot's of A List stars, Directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead). Looks like a Transporter, Oceans 11, Drive, mix of action.

Spot the twin!

Blue model of one at 1:04 or so... was hoping to see a real one used in action. Maybe I missed it. Movie shows promise based on the trailer... if past experience is any predictor, can't wait to be disappointed by the actual movie..

If it is chasing the STis then it shows up about 10 minutes after the trailer ends.

During my last flight I came across the following film.... it looked promising as the opening scenes contained a Rocket Bunny Twin but then it was a big downhill ride.

Dear lord Baby Driver is great. Saw it twice. Highly recommend it until someone doesn't recommend it.

I will give a try. Hope is better than the shit broken dreams of need for speed most wanted

wolffbite 07-04-2017 03:37 PM

Watched it last night.

Red wrx in the trailer and the twin car toy as screencapped above are the only subaru/twins in the movie. Sadly, no real twin is driven at any point.

It was pretty good, I'd recommend it. I thought the soundtrack was excellent, which was a bigger focus coupled with baby's driving skills rather than the actual cars in the movie.

StraightOuttaCanadaEh 07-04-2017 04:00 PM

I would recommend you watch it, but keep your expectations low. It's certainly not a 98% movie. I'd give it a solid 7/10. It's one of those movies that is not like the trailer. Sometimes I feel like the people making the trailers have a better idea of what a good movie is than the producers/writers/directors. The red WRX is only driven once. Then it's just automotive humdrum for the rest of the movie.

I'm dragging my wife to this right now. You guys better be right..

What ever happened to @babydriver anyway?

Jumped ship, got into a WRX.. faster car with more room, much better for heists.

Word is the soundtrack either makes it for you, or you leave feeling a touch underwhelmed. I wasn't as interested till I read about this, now I'm curious. Can't wait to rent it (better experience at home than the theater... Especially because I don't have to watch with earplugs. Unless I want to...)

stevesnj 07-04-2017 07:35 PM

Downloaded the soundtrack already, I don't like all the songs but most. Simon and Garfunkel "Baby Driver" song is very good for an old song. Planning to see it a third time. Just something about this movie that struck me.

stevesnj 07-09-2017 12:37 AM

Can't stop watching this movie!! Few movies are theater worthy these days. But this is one is very worthy. #3 viewing complete. My eyes hurt now.

It is.

But it's a film/music nerds movie, not a car nerd or action nerd.

Shit tons of thematic framing, homages to French New Wave and Hollywood Silver Age. Stuff regular people don't notice but that gives critics hard ons, which I think might hurt it as regular people go "it was pretty good but not that good".

It's a fun movie with believable action, practical effects, cool driving. I will definitely buy it on Blu Ray, maybe I'll see it in theater's again if the occasion arises.

strat61caster 07-09-2017 03:02 AM

Excuse the double post, but this was Edgar Wright's first attempt at the concept, if you've got sharp eyes it's in the movie. If you enjoy this you'll enjoy the movie and the car stuff will just be a bonus.

Sharp eyes? It IS the movie. Brilliant. This, for me, just became more about discovering Edgar Wright than it was about the movie itself.

That's actually playing on the TV in Baby and Joe's apartment in one scene

Like Steve says, it's on the TV for a moment in a scene about 1/4 of the way in as baby flips through the channels. A little repeat of what was done in Shaun of the Dead (mentioned in the video below).

Watch the Cornetto trilogy and Spaced and you'll be on tenterhooks waiting for Wright's next project like the rest of us. Scott Pilgrim is pretty great too.

I thought you were only discussing details about his direction. :bonk: Mrs. U. already wants to go back and see it again because she enjoyed it as much as I did.

I've seen Scott Pilgrim but didn't make the connection until last night with all my youtubing. We will definitely check out the Cornetto trilogy and Spaced. Instant fans of his work.

This is sitting on my shelf right now, I've been meaning to watch the director's commentary of Hot Fuzz with Tarantino and Wright, I think this afternoon is the perfect opportunity as I've just finished watching the Austrian GP.

Keep an eye out after the opening heist when baby goes for coffee and the song "Harlem Shuffle" is playing, the lyrics to the song are written on the buildings as he struts on the street, brilliant!!

Can confirm, pretty good movie. Very different from the norm. GF liked it too.
